So much history to explore! Hidden painted images all throughout. Food was excellent as usual. You always hear stories about ghosts. If you go to the front check in counter, you can check out the employee ghost story binder! It is a collection of encounters from guests, staff and builders from before they even opened. Try to walk through the hotel, take notes of specific rooms, but wait until 3AM, as that time was mentioned the most for encounters. We did not wake for it, but were not disappointed either! During breakfast, while we were talking, my girlfriend said Look at that! We turned to see a cabinet door, at standing eye level, swing fully open. Nobody had walked past it, as I was facing that direction. I immediately assumed the hinges were tilted and gravity pulled it. I walked over, closed it, then pulled the handle to get the door swinging. It stopped right after I let go. I pushed it open further, it stopped again. I repeated this multiple times, but could never get it to swing fully open, nor swing at the speed we watched it move at.Whether you believe or not, just be ready for anything!

Solid fare and good service. I hadnt been in for a number of years and it was as I remembered. We sat in the Iron Grill area/bar. I had the halibut fish and chips, it was good, but not the best Ive had. The fries are hand cut shoestring and I liked them quite a bit. The tarter sauce was surprisingly tasty. The coleslaw was mediocre, though edible. What really brought me back was the promise of a Ruby ale. It was the first craft style beer I drank back in the day. It truly hit the spot! Mens room was getting quite a bit of use with the large crowd in main dining and two groups in a couple of the large private rooms, it needed some attention. There was an event fundraiser for an elementary school so there were many kids around. The place is big enough that it didnt feel like they were in our laps. Good food in a family atmosphere.

My husband and I enjoy coming here on a Monday for cheap movies. The theater is small and cozy with blankets to use. We love that we can get a bite to eat while we watch the flick. Also just a cool hotel to begin with so lots of other stuff to do like soak in the mineral pool ;)

Always fun and lots to do. Many little places to eat on site. A soaking pool is available so bring your suite $500 for a couple hours use. Beautiful setting, and the best brews. Staff a bit slow and prices are right up there. You pay for atmosphere. Ruby spa -get your nails done. Yes you can stay overnight in the cool themed rooms. Also there is a theater, family fair. Out door seating when its sunny!

We had a truly enjoyable weekend spent exploring the magnificent Grand Lodge and its truly expansive grounds. We opted for one of the rooms in the basement which have communal bathrooms for $130.00. These were the cheapest rooms available but they were adequate and the bathrooms were kept very clean and were strategically placed so you never had to walk far to get to one. There was also three pubs in the basement and one on the main floor, which served McMenamins fine award winning microbrews.Theres never a shortage of things to see and do at the Grand Lodge. From swimming in the main pool or possibly sneaking in a visit to the spa with a hot stone massage you cant go wrong. We came prepared to read everything on the walls and truly get the full experience. If this is something that you think you might like to try, make sure you plan for a whole weekend as there such a rich history it cant be truly enjoyed in one day.The grounds were kept, as always, in near perfect condition. Its truly a fabulous time of year to visit if you enjoy long leisurely strolls through gardens in breathtaking condition. An evening drive-in size movie picture on the lawn (we were lucky enough to get the original Jaws movie). Or just trying to identifying a myriad of blooming flowers and herbs. Some even edible.Lest I forget this was a visit to one of the McMenamins fine establishments. So it almost goes without saying the food was very good. It was just exotic enough to not be your normal fare and downright tasty to boot. There are two different restaurants at the lodge, so once again you dont have to drive anywhere. We ate at or ordered take out from both of them several times and it was always prompt and well put together. I dont know how they fit that many flavors into one dish every time.Five Stars, well earned!

I have stayed here twice and loved it both times. What a great and historical place. The rooms are nice but BE SURE and ask for your own bathroom! Some of the rooms have shared privys. I am one of those that likes to have my own. The wine list wonderful and the food so delicious. Definitely would stay here again

This whole building is an awesome looking place. Great historical local building. Lots of hotel rooms, although I have never stayed here. The various bars and restaurant throughout the property are very cool. Also a few public sitting rooms with fireplaces. Miss the old cheap movie theater though. Now its an expensive one.

Who doesnt love a movie theater where you can eat pizza and drink a good beer! They only have one screen, so dont always have all the movies you want to see, but they usually have the more popular movie at the time. Drinks are phenomenal. So many choices, as well as they make their own beers and spirits. And, if guy ou get too drunk to drive home you can generally get a room for the night too!!!

The experience is pretty good. The food service unfortunately is painfully slow. Which isnt the fault of the theater wait staff, they are dependent on the restaurant on the 1st floor. The seats are roomy and comfortable. Get seats in the middle portion of the theater for the best view.

Great pub theater! Complete with table service of drinks and food! Seating is a little weird. They are not elevated, so if you sit in the back youll have a lot of heads in the way. First two rows are arm chairs and sofas. You can reserve seats by ordering your tickets online! Great place to see a movie if youre okay with a few compromises.
