Very serene and beautiful. Such a good walk and lots of resting stops with benches. All the attendees were very observant of wearing their masks.

The garden is nicely maintained, with a variety of plantings and different bed areas, some with a certain theme (for example a rose garden, a sensory garden, a shade garden.) Around the Garden area is a nice walking path that features various beds, benches, ornamental trees and memorials dedicated by the volunteers who maintain the gardens. New lighting is being installed that will make the pathway safer, and more usable at night.Pros: free access, nice quiet area for walking, jogging and biking, dog friendly (walking path only), a variety of birds and other animals live in the park, beautiful plantings that offer year round interest.Cons: hours for the park are limited, the garden closes at 6pm, so weekends are really the only time most people can use it. Some weed and waste issues, sometimes people dont clean up after their dogs. People use the walking path as a bike path and its kinda annoying.

Today was a wonderful experience. We waited for three months for the park to open, and it was well worth it. Beautiful butterfly gardens, and a walk over the bridge to the water fountain.

A beautiful community garden project nestled on 17 acres of land

Its very beatiful place especially in spring and summer. Trees, flowers, and birds are everywhere, I believe that It will give you peace of mind for sure. If you live in Floral Park, it will be wonderful experience to walk through the garden. But it doesnt open regularly for some reason, even though it says that it opens from 12pm to 5pm during weekdays.

A peaceful place to get away from it all

This beautiful garden has Evey option for peaple. Meet a friends for a breath of fresh air just to relax and take it in and walkabout. My favorite place to get some quiet me time. You can walk the exterior garden w your dog, it has a large space for the people and their pooches.It is exceptionally kept. So, so beautiful!

A beautiful bird sanctuary and nature walk. Absolutely gorgeous and they even have a giving garden that they sent food to the shelters around.

Amazing gardens. A bridge and walkway through and around the gardens makes a great place to visit and enjoy the trees and birds and flowers. Various sculptures decorate the walking paths. Very nice place.

Unbelievably beautiful! They have a secti6for kids to play in little play houses. My Brothers wedding photos were taken there, thats how amazing it is. What makes it even more special is all the trees and plaques they have surrounding the outside of the park as well as inside the park; dedicated to children who have passed away.

Great park in the Floral Park area! The bird sanctuary and gardens are open to the public late spring into the early fall! Unfortunately - dogs are not permitted within the fences and MUST be leashed around the outer perimeter.The gardens are a renewed storm reservoir that will flood after heavy rains - I would advise keeping a distance after big rain storms.

This converted storm sump was opened in 2000, and describes itself as a bird sanctuary. The open hours are noon to 5pm daily, and it closes for the winter on Thanksgiving weekend, re-opening the following April. Its maintained, meaning the flowerbeds and such, by several volunteers. It makes for a pleasant walk during the warmer weather and there are lots to interest young children down in the grassy bottom of the park. A dirt track runs round the park next to the high metal fence separating it from the surrounding streets. But keep in mind it is probably best to enter during a dry period as the pathways are mostly dirt and a bit of gravel, and mud could be an issue. There are interactive beds of a variety of touch, smell and sight plants, like the aromatic mint leaves that kids can experience as well as a garden of vegetables. Be aware that during heavy rains it still functions as a sump drain, evidence the mass of accumulated bottles and plastic containers in the one section controlled by Nassau County, behind the cement sump overflow dam. Evidently Nassau County has dragged its feet in cleaning up that area. All in all its a free access garden, with plenty of shade or sun depending on your wont. Parking is along the streets bordering the park, non metered.
