We were fortunate enough to have an amazing wedding at the Hawthorns in early Fall. Stephanie was an absolute joy to work with and my wife cant say enough wonderful things. The actual day turned out perfect--great food, everything setup beautifully, and guests having a great time. The icing on the proverbial cake was Stephanies assistance during the event itself. She brought up refreshments, golf-carted us to some good picture destinations, and pulled us aside whenever there was anything we needed to be looped in on. Thanks to the entire Hawthorns staff for helping to make our wedding so fantastic!

Course was in great condition, the staff was friendly, and amenaties were great.

My husband and I had been planning our wedding for a year and a half in another state and found out 2 months prior to the event that the guest list would have to be limited to no more than 30 people, which didnt even cover our immediate family. We immediately started looking for other venue options, and came across The Hawthorns through The Knot. We met with the event coordinator Stephanie, who assured us they had our day available, and everything would be taken care.We ended up having our rehearsal dinner and wedding at The Hawthorns, and everything was beautiful and perfect! They had space available for an outdoor ceremony, they took care of arranging rentals for linens, tables, and barrels for the bar, had several decorations and table numbers available for our use, and no matter the question or issue that came up, Stephanie was more than capable of handling it. They arranged breakfast and lunch for the bridal party as we got ready (on-site, they have some fantastic spaces for this), worked with our photographer on the best places for pictures, and helped the DJ get everything set up for the outdoor ceremony and the indoor reception.Honestly, we felt extremely taken care of and valued and could not have imagined a more-perfect wedding venue. The attention to detail was fantastic and made us feel almost VIP. They had several club-related events going on over the weekend and every time we stopped by for a visit, but that did not hamper the attention that was shown to our events and guests. We would highly recommend holding any event here, especially if Stephanie is your coordinator!

The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club hosts the gold outing for the Midwest Food Bank every year. And every year, I am impressed. The facility is always immaculate. Staff are always above and beyond in whatever we need. The course is always fantastic. Im a loooong way awya from being a country club membership kind of person, but someday... This would be a great one.

Our event manager, Stephanie, was nice but unprepared, seemed under-qualified, and was absent for the rehearsal dinner and actual wedding.My sister had won a free rehearsal dinner that was marked in her file clear as day, Stephanie was entirely unaware of that until we reminded her and she actually read through the BEO. Because of her inattention to detail, there was no longer a date available that would allow us to rehearse in the actual space. Instead, we had our rehearsal dinner in a space next door. During the rehearsal dinner, there were waitstaff and club members cutting through the space, as well as a vendor with carts coming through for the event that was happening next door.When we asked about what the club was doing to ensure food safety in light of Covod-19, she said there would be staff present to handle serving the rehearsal dinner so that everyone wouldn’t be handling the same serving utensils, there was no staff present to do this.Stephanie was our day-of coordinator, but wasn’t present for the rehearsal dinner nor the actual wedding. There was no other member of management assigned to the event, nobody came forward to say they would be our point person for the day, and ultimately our photographer ended up keeping things going.On the day of, while the bridal parties were getting ready, not once did a staff member check in to see if everyone was doing alright and even tracking someone down to get some water was difficult.There were some issues with food service as well. One guest at my table (the bridal party table) had a nut allergy and asked if they could have a salad without nuts. The wait staff returned and said that the chef had already left for today and they couldn’t get a salad without nuts. It was spring mix, feta cheese, dried cranberries, and a balsamic dressing, and there wasn’t someone in the kitchen capable of doing that. Instead, they brought out a sad looking fruit cut with melon that was 2 days past it’s prime.My salad actually had an additional topping, to my surprise, I was greeted by a live spider!The chargers that were preset at the tables were scratched and scuffed, someone at my table actually had pieces of dried food on theirs.The bride and groom were brought their beverage for toasting, but it was just put on the table as if they were expected to pour their own glasses at their wedding.The waitstaff, while friendly, did not serve or clear plates from the correct side during service and several of them were wearing jeans with untucked shirts.Matt was great though. I was fortunate enough to have a few interactions with him during the reception and his demeanor and professionalism was great.I’ve worked in the industry for 7 years, 5 1/2 Of which were actually at a country club, and I still am at a loss of an explanation of how there was nobody else called to step in for Stephanie’s absence of the entire event.

The breakfast was awesome! ️ Everything I tried tasted good and it was displayed nicely as well. They had real whipped cream to put on top of fruit and it was delicious. The waitress was pleasant and its a very clean facility.

We were only there for a 2 hour seminar. Enroute to a restroom, I spotted the wedding reception dining area. This place would be perfect for a wedding!

Our wedding is not until September but I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Erin and Emily so far! They are AMAZINGLY accommodating and I am so excited to share one of the most important days of my life with them. I honestly cannot say enough about their patience and the way the work to customize your special day!! I would hands down recommend Hawthorns for any event. The space itself is to die for! The pictures do not do it justice and it makes it even better when you are working with a great staff!!

Attended a wedding here, nice setup. Enjoyed the facility layout, had an outside wedding on a nice patio overlooking the golf course. Reception/banquet room had a dance floor and seated 200(?). Had areas for cocktail hour before the reception also.

I cant wait to hold my wedding reception at The Hawthorns and it isnt even until June of 2019! There is something so incredibly special about The Hawthorns. My mom, fiancé and I had a tour with Erin to take a look around and to just learn more about the venue itself and I am still raving about it to all my friends and family! Erin is seriously the best. Shes extremely professional, passionate, bubbly, creative and so much more. She answered all of our questions and it made it known from the beginning that they would work around our budget in order to make our dream a reality without breaking the bank. LOVE. The thing that makes The Hawthorns stand out from the rest in how personable and attentive theyve been from the beginning. Very blessed.

Really beautiful club with not such a friendly staff and unwelcoming environment. Upper management makes false promises to their employees. I was hired on here as the Pool Manager for the Summer of 2019. I was let go before the season even started because the communications manager didnt like my style. Liz wanted to micromanage every move I made and never let me make decisions for the Aquatics Department. If you are planning on working here as a lifeguard or manager for the summer I suggest you work somewhere else. The food at The Arbor Grill will knock your socks off though!

We have training for northwestern mutual here. It is an awesome place with great service. The food is fantastic and I love the staff. The technology there is not the best (the projectors are always broken or too hard to work) but other than that, the place is amazing.

I was here for a wedding. The staff was very helpful with any requests. The food was excellent. There was rain the day of and the staff handled it beautifully.

Brides Beware!Somehow my reviews continue to be deleted. So, Im posting again in hopes that it saves another bride from potential disaster. This venue is pretty and has great food. That is exactly what sold me. But, that is truly all that this venue has to offer. Severe lack of communication. I went through 4 point of contacts in less than a year. No one communicates internally at all so a lot of follow ups and making sure that EVERYTHING was in writing. Little to NO attention to detail. My DOC quit just prior to my wedding day but The Hawthorns failed to tell me. My rehearsal was double booked and we were rushed out of the door. People were scrambling on the day of my wedding. The cake was put in the kitchen next to the ovens. It started to melt. Then the staff refused to physically move the cake over a few feet and made my bridal party do it. Decorations did not go as planned. One example is: After vacuuming, my aisle runner was left folded in half so my entire bridal party tripped during the bridal march. My guests were to be surprised at the end of the ceremony. Instead, the staff gave the items to the guests at the beginning of the ceremony and made them do it themselves. Guests were charged for drinks during the cocktail hour. Cocktail hour was included in the package that I paid for. They threw away or lost hundreds of dollars worth of items that were to be returned to me. The day after the wedding, my bridal party was left to clean up the bridal suite. No help was offered.These are just a few issues. If this is the venue of your choice, make sure you have at least 2/3 other people outside of yourself to handle every single aspect of your wedding.

We were here for a wedding the 4th of July weekend and the place is beautiful! There is a decent size sitting room as soon as you walk in and a large reception area with two balconies.From what we could see, the golf course is beautiful and perfectly maintained. There is a scenic area outside with plenty of seating that looks over the golf course. Having fireworks going off in the distance was a perfect addition.

We recently celebrated our 3 year old birthday at the club. They helped me plan everything (from linens to kids entertainment, Moana!!).Moana came, and she did a great job, telling her story, singing, face painting and even cutting the cake!. Everybody was extremely happy, and kept commenting on how beautiful everything was. Food was delicious, and they even found a cake caterer for me.Great venue for any party you may have in mind, with a great service.Erin and Emily (as well as Kari and Allison, the servers), did a fantastic job!

I got married here almost 2 weeks ago. The location itself is beautiful and the food for the reception was delicious. The bartenders and serving staff were wonderful. The only complaint I had was the person in charge of organizing and handling the details of the event. There only issues we had in the entire planning of our wedding were a result of things that the person had done (or not done), or a lack of communication with us by the venues event coordinator.

The wedding we had there was the perfect day and couldnt ask for anything more, they did an amazing job setting up and the food for the reception was amazing!
