Way overbooked today. 4:45 round. Really disappointing. Ive been playing here for 25 years and this was the worst Ive seen. Pins hadnt been moved in days, no ranger, and two groups on each tee. Every hole. Too bad. The beer was good.

Wanted to like this place / But the tee times are way too close together for Covid. Groups were stacked on top of each other. At one point, there were 9 people on one par 3. No ranger in site. Many other courses around town that aren’t piling groups in.

I’ve played this course 40-50 times over the years as it is a part of a rotation of courses that I play. It is in very good condition this year and you can see that there is money going back in to the course. My biggest concern is that the course is now $69 w/cart. I understand that you can command this rate due to many people resorting to golf as their primary activity of choice during Covid-19 and it is central to the growing community in Farmington, however the course is not worth the cost. You could play out here last year for $31-38 w/cart and now it is almost double the cost. There are other courses within 10-15 minutes that are much more affordable and offer a comparable experience that will get my green fees instead of Southern Hills.

Awesome to finally get out and golf. Southern Hills Golf Course is open and in good condition, with the range open as well! Hard to believe we had 15+ inches of snow less than two weeks ago. Always great service and you should check out some of the updates to the clubhouse! Looking forward to a fun season and visiting Southern Hills many more times...

Wait times over 25 mins on 2 holes per 18. No one answered the phones due to low staffing, greens are slow, 18 holes will take roughly 5.5hrs to 7hrs, no ranger. Disappointing after they had the course meticulous the last 2 years and let it be run down .

I called to make a tee time and the girl told me if I needed to cancel it had to be 24 hours in advance. I found out we couldn’t play and called well within the 24 hours and the same girl then told me all she could do was give me a rain check!! Very deceiving on their part. I would NEVER HAVE made the reservation if I had known that!!

Southern Hills is one of the best courses in the twin cities for the price. Greens arent the fastest nor the most challenging. The layout is forgiving and wont eat your golf balls. that being said, the course conditions are always top notch. The layout has variation between holes which you dont get with the city courses. It also provides a great landscape for an enjoyable round. I cant wait until the harvest starts as the changing colors in the fescue and surrounding farms makes for a beautiful fall round. I highly recommend southern hills for a great value.

Played here just the other day for the first time, and I was pretty impressed with the course. Awesome layout, not too long, and some challenging pin locations to keep things interesting. All the things you would want at your local public course. The greens were in somewhat rough conditions...a lot of ball marks and other defects that sometimes made me feel I was playing at Chambers Bay in 2015. It was also after a heavy rainfall the night before, and I had a 3:30 PM tee time, so plenty of golfers were able to destroy them before I got there. Maybe that isnt the case all the time, but that was the only complaint I had. Great course, otherwise.

PROS -Challenging greens that are in great shape.Decent distance from the tips.Practice greens and driving range.Price on twilight rates.Good elevation change considering the area and plot of land.Friendly staff.CONS -Full price is expensive for what you get.Not enough carts when they are busy.Advertise water on the course but all the jugs were empty.A lot of blind shots.Tee times booked very close to one another. A lot of backups.OVERALL -Fair course overall. Some holes were generic and others offered good challenge. Par 3s are longer than most courses. The greens here get 5 stars easily with condition and slope. Be prepared to wait on most holes when it is busy. There seems to be more inexperienced golfers at this course than compared to most courses at this skill/price point in the metro. It was disappointing to see them scramble and kick people out of their carts right away when they came off hole 18 for golfers going out on hole 1. They say complimentary water on the course but they must only fill these in the morning once for the day. Every jug was empty going out on a tee time at 2pm.Hit this place on twilight during the week to avoid the worst crowds and get the best bang for your money. I would not pay full price here for what you get.

Played here today and absolutely loved it. Heard good things from PCC members about how fast the greens were and was not disappointed. Very challenging but very fair and its fun to get even a taste of the speed that you see the pros play on TV.The course does a great job of keeping things fresh too. Never are you playing two similar holes back to back and whether its elevation, water, bunkers, a big dogleg, or a huge pile of rocks in the fairway each hole has something unique to offer.Would not hesitate to play here again.

I had heard some good reviews about this course in Farmington with the great greens so some buddies and I figured we would go check it out. It did not disappoint. The course was in amazing shape even after an hour plus rain delay. The staff kept everyone that was waiting informed and got us all out in an efficient manner. By the third hole you wouldn’t have even known it rained on and off for the last 12 hours. Can’t say enough good things about this course and staff we will definitely be making this a regular in our rotation. A couple of us in our group even shot a personal best! Can’t wait to play it again.

This was one of my dads favorite places to golf in leagues/teams through his company and the community. He had nothing but positive things to say about the golf course! It is well-maintained, has a welcoming clubhouse, and if the parking lot ever fills up, there is plenty of free parking just across the street at the youth softball fields.

Love this course...Very fair and you can let the big dog eat on every hole. The conditions this year have been great, and even when its busy, pace of play hasnt been an issue. The thing I like best about this place is the greens. They cut them so that they are fast. The greens roll true, you just need to make sure you spend a few minutes on the practice green before you go out.

LOOOOOOL1st weekend of spring. Finally. 12” snow two weeks ago. All courses scrambling to open.Southern Hills opens and is charging full weekend rate of $61.This is a half way decent course. Short but decent. Course defenses are blind shots and severely sloping greens. Friendly people. Pace on a crowded day was decent.Negatives are that at least 3 holes have the driving range come into play, Routing of course is a little confusing so pay attention or you will get lost and tee off on wrong box. And, because of the routing, some holes it seems like a shooting gallery where you have balls coming from all directions and people often playing from your fairway.But...This is not a $61 course in the middle of summer let alone 1st weekend round of spring.Enjoy my $. It’s the last you will see from me.

HSouthern Hills Golf Course played your course today. OMG. You should be applauded for your conditions. The greens were amazing. The rough was challenging but fair. But your greens are superb. The layout is beyond awesome. I can’t say that enough. Every hole has a give/take relationship.... and it’s legit perfect. I love that 3 years ago I may not have considered your course as an option but now Kevin Unterreinerand his commitment to golf in MN has brought me this new jewel of MN golf. I love going back.I mean that. I don’t post lightly with my opinion. Kudos. See you soon.

I played here early on a week day, and now that the grass has had time to grow, the course is in excellent condition. You could hit every green in regulation and still shoot 90 if youre not careful with your first putt. A true test there, however it is on the shorter side at only around 6300 from the tips. Water is placed well, so its hard to over power the course, and there are solid penalties for careless or errant shots. There are a few blind shots, and it can be hard to pick an aiming point sometimes with no distinct figures in the background. A taller flag in some cases may alleviate some of these though.Over all great course, walkable, beautiful views, and some of the best greens Ive played on.

Very good golf course, with a good challenge if you are up to it. The course is striving to make improvements every year and it just continues to get better. There are options for the high handicap/beginner to play and enjoy a great round. There are some holes with OB near by. Make use of the provisional ball instead of having to walk back! The wind is what makes the difference on the course. There isnt an extraordinary amount of it, but each wind makes a different round.Par 5s can be reached by some of the longer hitters, and the par 4s are right in line with challenges along the way. The par 3s offer a touch of a variety (unless the wind is just right, then it is somewhat repetitive). One of my favorite courses to play.

DO NOT become a member of this golf course. We paid for the membership in the winter time. The description of memberships lay out the costs and times that you can play. What it DOESNT tell you is that you are locked off the course during league time and corporate events. The 2 times Ive tried to get on to play, I was told no due to a corporate event. Im a member and cant play the course.
