It would be nice if you would tell people that the reservoir was drained down to work on the dam. It is mostly mud. I drove four hours to get there and it looked nothing like the photos.

Boat traffic is horredous during warmer months...carp dominate the fishery....camp sites are generally at a premium...

Good facilities, but the wafting smell from the dam was obnoxious and made you want to vomit. Could not do more than 1 night.

Love coming out here as it always seems like there is something new to do. Have kayaked from the Narrows to Blackbird Point, camped along the Carson River, joined a Ranger led float down the river from the dam, walked the interpretative trails and learned about the history of the reservoir, and explored the pioneer and Native histories of this vital river. The Rangers and park staff are always friendly and welcoming. Easy park to access and a fun way to spend a day or weekend.
