This was a great tour our guide was just wonderful and knowledgeable very sweet. We went in the fall but it was still beautiful. We went during covid19 so their practices are not the same as normal but when they can get back into the swing of things it will probably be amazing. But if you at all like history, old things or just something different go check it out! There is also a lack down the hill with ducks the white ones were raised buy a nice lady who visits them daily the white one with brown spots is Cupcake

It is a good place to see ducks, geese, herons, trumpeter swans and other shorebird wildlife. Other songbirds are also present in the trees around. Occasionally I have seen black rat snakes (non venomous so not dangerous as such) cross the biking trail. The walking/biking trail goes over a bridge and you get a view of a railway bridge from it, so you can get some cool photos of bridges too.* Do NOT feed ducks or geese please, they get enough natural food from the river

What a beautiful place. The history of our country is preserved here by the reconstruction of this Fort. Knowing that our ancestors had to flee to the safety of one of the many forts built just for survival is humbling.

Was here for a half marathon on local paths and trails. The museum was closed for the weekend (in January). But it looked very informative and realistic. Grounds and restrooms were clean, pleanty of parking in overflow lots a short walk away if main lot is full. Nice views of the river. Located on a rolling hillside so not a place for kids to play soccer at and no playground area. Picnic tables available and on the trails just a short walk away. Trails suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.

I went for the Candlelight Christmas event at the park this past weekend. Even though it was dark and I couldnt see all the buildings, it was still a great place. The main buildings were decorated as they would have been in the 18th century and lit only by candles. There was a guide in each of the buildings to tell you all about life in that time period. Everyone was very knowledgeable and friendly. I especially liked that this was a hands-on park so you could really interact with your surroundings. In addition to the fort and additional houses nearby, there is also a museum telling you a bit about the history of the area. The price is also very reasonable. The entrance fee is only $8 and you get full access to the grounds. If you like bicycling, the rail trail runs right through the park, as well.Overall, this was an enjoyable experience I would definitely recommend. I look forward to going back and seeing the place during the daylight too!
