Azalea course is outstanding. Greens, bunkers and fairways in very good shape. Fun layout.Dogwood course has a lot of water and is in great condition. Some interesting holes but Azalea is a better challenge.

Wonderful facility in a great setting. I dont understand why they can not get the food preparation right. It has great potential if they work on the food and service. Hopefully they will eventually work on the problems. You could not ask for a better facility.

Great facilities and staff. Now part of RTJ Alabama golf trail. One course being renovated in 2019 I believe.

Excellent golf course! The redevelopment using the new turf grasses for fairways and greens was a stroke of genius. Greens are the truest I’ve ever played. Beautiful course! My compliments to Simon Perkins, Superintendent.

Smelled like cigarettes. Event bartender was extremely rude and never returned my change. Didnt make a scene because it was my annual homeowners meeting. I would never go there again.

Challenging course. Different tee locations that match your handicap. Great recommendations from pro shop staff, attendants know the course well. Meet the golf pros. Try the Pitch and Putt for lunch. You will be glad you experienced your round

Marriotts Grand Hotel in Point Clear, boasts two 18-hole championship golf courses (known collectively as Lakewood Golf Club), which are included as part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama. Compared to its Lakewood companion (the Dogwood course), the Azalea is the stronger layout, with slightly more undulating terrain (particularly on the back-nine), very impressive bunkering, and a more natural setting - all closely aligned with the high-quality standards of the other Trail courses.

A true gem in Alabama golf. The two courses both have their perks, but I prefer the Azaela for my game. If youre lucky enough to be in Fairhope, dont miss a round at this place. Also, if staying at the Grand Hotel across the street, you get practice facility access for the duration of your stay. The entire practice area was recently redone and leaves nothing to be desired. They even have a small bar on the practice tee complete with cocktails and flat screen TVs!

This course isnt really on the Robert Trent Jones trail. You can only play here if you have a trail card. It was pretty embarrassing being turned away.

The Pro Shop staff and resident Golf Pro were fantastic! The cart attendants and bag guys, at the end of the day could care less. They were more concerned about leaving, than tending to our clubs etc.For $130. per player one would expect better service. Also, residents were popping up in front of us on holes, or hitting into us without any regard to the paying customer.Going to stay at the Grand Marriott again, but NOT playing golf at Lakewood! Will find somewhere cheaper, and sure they will treat their customer(s) right.

Just played it on 7/20/17. $140 for 18 holes. Only one course was open. The other scheduled to be reopen in October. Made a tee time at 7:20, so there werent many people on the course to contend with during the round. There was sand all over the greens, muddy fairways, no electronic gps on the carts. Some of the staff was friendly. The layout was pretty good. Challenging from whichever tee box you played from. The Experience that everyone talked about beforehand was not much of one considering we barely had time to use the range. Its a good course. Is it worth $140? Especially if youre staying at the Grand across the street? Maybe not. Talking with a guy that played the round with me, he found some sort of package online for the RTJ course in Mobile along with this one that cost $130 for the 2 rounds. Id suggest finding something like that. I certainly wouldnt pay $140 again. To the credit of the nice cart guy that gave me a lift back to the hotel and tried to get my address to send me a voucher for a free round of golf, I honestly couldnt think of a reason I wanted to go back.

$80 for a set of rented clubs and nine holes. Bill does not include balls or teas which with all the water fouls youll need a few spares. The course was fun and challenging. To summarize it was a nice course I may return too but would not recommend as my first choice. It was a rocky start when walking out of the club after paying for the course and a meal I would not be allowed to play as they do not allow jeans on the course. Just participating in a work retreat with a fresh pair of clean dark Wrangler jeans I was frustrated as I did not live near by and did not bring another pair of non Jean pants. I asked what he suggested and he attempted to communicate with staff for several minutes to find rain pants. After some time I contacted a work colleague which luckily had a pair of pants I could borrow. Considering my age and the rest of my outfit I felt the rule dated and pedantic. Im the future I will be sure to verify course rules and avoid less progressive establishments.
