I dont hate it. Its nice to walk around the area but the beach is not kept up at all. Its a shame and a disgrace because Fairhaven is such a beautiful town. It isnt cared for by the town, I believe its the state. They have West Island and that is always such a beautiful spot. The islanders wouldnt tolerate anything less.
Beautiful beach. Nothing left of the fort except some cannons.
Beautiful place to take photos or walk the jetti. Tide was low and my family an I were able to look and find crabs
Beautiful small and quiet. Theres a duck to walk on you can also walk down to the opposite end of the beach there are fields to play on there are tennis courts you can play basketball theres a small playground theres a bathhouse during the summer its a local place with local charm and every couple of months they do something with the historical society where they fire off the cannons at the actual fort, or they have something like settlers days where they do a revolutionary war era encampment and invite the public to ask questions and they bring kids along and its a good time for families to get out and see something interesting.
This is a very clean, well-kept state park with plenty of historical info as to the nature of the site and the fort that formerly stood there. The views of Buzzards Bay are incredible and when the weather gets nicer I will definitely be taking more trips here!
Awesome beach with breathtaking views a long beside the old fort Phoenix bunker and cannons good place to go for a walk with the dog or the family good place to go sit in the car and eat a quick meal. I recommend everyone who comes to the fairhaven area to stop in and have a look
This site has great views great walkways can go up and down the beaches can stay here and fish it can also sit next to the real cans that used to be used in 1828. This fort was built before the civil war and was used for harbor defense it was destroyed by the British in 1778 and was later rebuilt to enjoy and remember where we were as a nation. Kids love the beach and the rocks that you can sit by or climb.
Nice walk on the hurricane barrier and around fort. Beach is nice, mostly sand, and water good for swimming. Grills, picnic tables, basketball & tennis courts.
Nice walking area, very scenic. Walking out on the jetty was phenomenal,
Great p lace to watch the fishing boats going in and out to buzzards bay. Very cool place to relax..
One of my favorite places in my hometown; it’s so much fun to walk the hurricane dike and see the boats come through. Also it has some historical artifacts such as it’s cannons which are open to free exploration. It has a lovely little beachfront and some gorgeous views of the ocean. If you’re feeling sporty, there is a tennis court, a beach volleyball area, and lots of rocks to climb. What a fun place for a swim, a picnic, or just some sightseeing; it’s a local staple of our ocean front town.
The beach has not been taken care of. Seaweed everywhere rocky. I wont go in the water here. Neither would my uncle who swam there as a kid.
Never too crowded. Beach, tennis court, dog walking. Many people also go to just look at the view of the water from their cars.
We love forts and this one has the ocean, massive stone outcroppings, beaches and the hurricane wall. Amazing!
It was a beautiful day for a picnic by the ocean, plus I got to see puppies
Great views...not much of a fort... just a few cannons....still a great peaceful place...:)
Very beautiful park, great views, relaxing.
Its great I like to take my top off and drive in the sand.
This is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. A place Ive been visiting since I was a child!
Decent beach and place to walk though I do wish theyd replace the volleyball net.
Nice place to walk around a relax. Great view of the city.
Free to park and enjoy! Do it. You will be glad you did.
Nice walking and getting some fresh air today.
Been going there since I was a kid and have a lot of great memories. Very historic and a great place to relax. I do suggest sandals or swim shoes if you go in the water as it can b Rockie. Would give 5 stars if there was a small eatery closer.
Not bad when you’re new at “finding peace”.
Great place for relaxing and walking. But they need to do something about the playground and beach house.
Beautiful overlook of new bedford harbor, a very nice beach and an historic revoluntionary war fort.
Great place four alone time
Beautiful park with benches and picnic tables. Plus amazing views.
Amazing historical park. Both walking and swimming.
Plenty of space, lots of shade ,sun, grass, picnic areas, gazebo, restrooms, play area, tennis, volleyball net
Parking is free, and theres lots of it. This place has everything from sandy shores, rocky waters, rocks for climbing, benches for resting, and paths for walking.
The weather was nice at Fort Phoenix nice breeze coming in off the water and it was not crowded
We Loved it!!! Very peaceful and friendly people
They let you shoot the cannons. No, not really, but you can pretend.
Cool place nice very historical with ocean views walking and swimming
Spacious park. Great historic information here. Beautiful place to walk the beach, there’s grassy areas, picnic tables and benches well placed. Bathroom available. Fishing allowed. Easily accessible parking.Closes at 10pm.
Had a take out meal there awesome
Great place to relax and enjoy the weather
The views are beautiful.
Inspirational views!
This is where I park to start my ride. Gorgeous views.
A very beautiful historical place to visit, especially late summer afternoons, beautiful sunsets.
Nice place to check out the scenery and visit an old fort with a small history lesson. Beach is pretty good and is still free with free parking.
Very beautiful and relaxing nice place for a slow walk.
I love this place. Now my son can explore and love it as much as I do.
Great place to bike ride!
I wanted to buy a state pass they wouldnt allow me because I lived in Mattapoisett not New Bedford
Treasured lifelong family memories at this beach/state park. Lovely hurricane dike 2 walk down & watch boats go by. Or playground;&tennis, basketball courts.dog friendly.all around great family day trip
Great day for some family fresh air. Make the Best of free and abundant family time!!
Great place to see the ocean, walk, fish, picnic and explore.
Wow .. Fort Phoenix is a state park, there is a beach. I live there practically embracing in awe the beauty of God’s creation.. I had a vision long ago and saw myself under this just perfectly made by our Lord.. I went there and I knew I arrived as I saw the tree and the whole area as a wonderful place, people are very friendly and so welcoming.. I would say arrive because it is a good place for a picnic, sit and look at the ocean as the wind touches your face, to read, swim, walk the dogs, I really love it..Thank you Jesus for such a amazing place.. AmenAna
Its great being by the beach.
Its a nice place to take the family and it is dog friendly as well. We loved it.
Beautiful Fort! Summer time is always busy and they host reenactments here too.
Always a great place to go and enjoy the water .
A little bit of everything in Fairhaven. You get some rock hopping, some running, and some beach. There are basketball and tennis courts on the premise. Bring a snorkel and some goggles because the sea life under the water is pretty diverse and visible on a clear day.Facilities?Bathroom and snack shop is open during the summer. But it is the fall, so all that is left is a fairly clean port-a-potty to squat in.There are stores about a mile up Main Street. So make sure to bring what you need!
Great place to just relax
My doggies love it here!
Great place. Peaceful.
It is a really fun destination, specially for summer. The are some decent beaches with a fort park. This place also includes an outdoor basketball court, tennis court and awesome beach volleyball. There is also a small playground for kids. The parking size is decent enough. This park welcomes all the people from all the age group. The view is lovely, relaxing. The only missing part is and I hope it’s because went there in spring not summer, there are no restaurants at a walking distance. Besides this there is nothing to complain about.
Loved this place my whole life
Small nearby beach great for bonfires at night
Nice place for fishing and simple relaxing
Beautiful place. Lots of parking and room to relax. A nice place to walk around as well. They have a tennis court , beach , playground and more. Lots of pokestops for those who play pokemon go.
Kids playground is so rusted that parts are hanging off and exposed rusted, jagged metal sticks up from the steps. Junkie needles right next to the playground. A view or nice basketball court doesnt make up for the risk of your kid getting hepatitis.
Senic and nice to spend time at.
Im a history buff, especially local history. Great views and rich history makes this a must for everyone curious about our nations beginnings.
Love going fishing here however the beach is horrible and full of rocks would not take children here
Night swimming late July! Like bath water and a piece of heaven!!!
Very scenic and beautiful
Great place to relax on the beach, take a walk, or learn a little about local history. Also have areas to have parties(not sure if need to be arranged in advance) and play tennis and basketball. Can do other activities on the grass. Has a playground for kids as well.
Beautiful and lots of people with dogs.
Great location. Love the views
It was very nice
Dont bother launching a sea kayak here. No signs or buoys indicating the swim area so you basically launch and land in an unmarked swim zone without knowing it. So then you get yelled at by the dumb security people. Also, they came within 6ft of me without masks so Im gonna sue.
No reservations bout this place, its great
Nice beach and great views
Very clean and nice
Beautiful scenery
It is nice to do yoga and play tennis near the beach with a little breeze. The rocks are fun to climb on. Swimming here is a little too Rocky for me.
Very pretty park with enough parking spaces. Great for a quick lunch break to let your thoughts wander :)
Oh the sights of the beach was very relaxing. My stepdaughter and her father and I had a good time walking the shore and sitting on the rocks. Took lots of pics.
My border collie/labrador loves it...just got to continue if theres decent weapons...always a bit cool during the winter with some wind...
Bathrooms were clothes and facilities nearby were gross
I love the view and the little cliff area. Sometimes it gets a little crowded for me. They have a picnic area on the other side with hibachi grills just bring some foil, and charcoal. There are bathrooms and plenty of parking for free. Tennis and basketball court, great area to rollerblade as well. I would wear shoes as Ive seen a needle there before.
Lots of history ,Very well kept, nice beach
Beautiful place to walk the dike and look into the cape cod bay and the open scenic view.
GREAT place to JUST relax & enjoy the sea breeze &
A peaceful spot in Fair Haven with great views and mild bay water. Nestled in a neighborhood this no frills beach remains popular for the quiet seclusion and sun drenched sand.
