Great place to run around and explore. Lots of little ponds. Lots of fossils. Lots of opportunity to scramble on rocks.

Excellent open area for meandering. Gravel covered paths make for easy walking. Bring a hat because there is very little foliage cover in the main section of the park.I also suggest that you look at some geology resources before visiting the park to enjoy all of the rock formations.A small riding trail can be followed into deep under brush, But the rocks are the real reason to visit this beautiful park.

This is a very cool place! There a few trails, but a lot of open area to explore. It reminded me of a desert, which was weird since thats not Ohios normal feel, so it makes for a unique experience. There are great places for RC cars or boats, and some neat plants to check out.

I was disappointed with the area. I love the fossils, and it is a pretty place, or could be. I saw too much trash around and graffiti The walk was not an easy one for me, so anyone with joint issues should be prepared. Also, there were supposed to be educational signs from what I understand, but I only saw two. I would say its worth a visit, just pick up your trash and respect the park.

This is a very unique place. It is an old rock quarry with a few ponds and some hiking trails. I found it very interesting, but quite different from most parks. I did not see any playground equipment, but I think they should add some. It could stand to be better developed, but maybe it is fine as it is since it seems to be well attended during this time of COVID-19. The ponds are full of water in the Spring and there is so much space one feels quite safe.

One of the nice places in Fairborn. The most I like about it is that nature is mostly taking care of it. The park is very big and it takes many visits to walk all it’s trails. Also, it has different sets to enjoy, such as a pond, open spaces, and trees to walk in between. Some people say that if you pay attention you may found fossils! Parking and admission is free. I highly recommend this place and if you love nature go and enjoy your day!

Amazing park for free roaming or trail walking. We were able to keep our distance from everyone even though the parking lot was full. The park is huge! We found fossils, hiked up the rocks, played in the water, found birds, and walked the wooded trail. Definitely family friendly and dog friendly time!

Oakes Quarry Park is very unique. The dramatic rock formations and semi-desolate landscape impart a sense of adventure and energy different from the other parks in the area. I really enjoy seeing the lakes, fossil beds and cliffs here. It is fascinating to see forest succession happening here as barren areas are taken over by grasses, scrubby brushes and small trees.

I ended up here because the family I came to visit all worked, none of whom have actually been here, having no idea where I was headed. At first it looked like I was not allowed to be there with the construction trucks, but there is a sign(also dog friendly, was flying or he’d def be with) and I entered the trail the an amazing outlook of vast nature, rocks and trails leading random relocation of where you start, but it really was beautiful and defiantly plan to return.

We did a Star Wars themed photoshoot here last May 5th and it was great. A great venue for outdoor shoots with feels of desert/ abandoned planet or something. It has rocks and small ponds and horizon of mountains. Saw some people fishing and walking their dogs. Im not sure tho if there is any entrance fee to go in but for shoots i know you need to secure a permit. Not sure how much bec our organizer prepared the permit for our shoot. :)Check out my ig: @izzyquinnzilla

I gave it 3 stars because it is a very nice place to walk and explore, but my complaint is there doesnt seem to be much upkeep going on. The graffiti is getting bad and the trail marker signs with the educational info are getting so faded. Some trail markers are knocked down. If it were kept up better it would be such a wonderful place to learn from. #fairborndobetter.

This was an okay place to hike. The trails were not cut back so there were branches and spiderwebs in a lot of places on the perimeter loop. The quarry was nice to wander around. There is graffiti on a lot of rocks but not a lot of garbage. My young son enjoyed throwing rocks into one of the ponds but the water didnt look too clean around the edge so I didnt want him to wade in it. Im glad I went to see the park but I dont think Ill be going back anytime soon since there are so many other nice parks in the area with much better maintained trails.

Fantastic place to spend an entire afternoon! Hiking, swimming, or hunting for fossils. Great place for the dogs! Wouldnt be a bad place for the kids if the familys would start throwing away the trash they bring in. There are plenty of trash barrels on site no need for this littering.

It was really confusing. There was a map at the beginning and that was about it.There are areas of rocks all throughout but we werent sure where the designated fossil area was?? I kept looking for a sign like the one I saw on here but never found anything like it.Paths were not clear. There was a port o potty! No TP tho.Idk. I expected more.Do not take kids for fossil hunting if youve never been and dont know exactly where to go. My kids hated it! I found a few but the kids really killed any enjoyment with all the whining. I noticed there were at least two other families with the same issue so Im glad it wasnt just us.Ill be back but the kids will stay at home. And we will go when its not hot as you know what (theres very little shade anywhere).Trail markers?? Please??
