We spent two nights at Chena Hot Springs and had an amazing time. We did all of the tours. The northern lights tour was great because we saw them but be prepared for a long night as you dont get back until 3am and theres no guarantee youll see them. The dog sledding and kennel tour were great. The ice bar was amazing. The hot springs were very relaxing during the day and night. The restaurant at the resort had great food and decent prices. Overall it was a great trip. Highly recommend.

We spent over $550 for one night on the “romantic getaway” package. The day of, about 4 hours before check in they cancelled our couples massage which was a big reason we chose this location. It was peaceful there and the tour guide for the Aurora tour and ice museum was awesome. He was very educational and helpful. The Aurora tour is worth the $75 a person. There is a heated yurt, but it is cold! Dress warm. The ice museum was great too. Food was pretty good and waiter was great. Our issue besides the massage was:The place felt well over 80 all day & night even with the window openThere was no microwave or fridgeThe menu only offered 1 vegan option for dinner & nothing for breakfast (which is part of what is in the package) it equals about $180 of what you paid for and you can’t even eat itThere was little communication about how to get into a tour and where to go/sign up.If I could go back I would probably book everything separately.I also got engaged on top of that mountain so cheers

I am beyond words to describe my stay at Chena Hot Springs ResortWe stayed here for 2 nights 3 days and all my days of the stay there were wonderful. The Resort location and the surrounding beauty of the snow covered white mountains is like a winter wonderland.1)We stay a big bear cabin which occupies 6 people 2 queen beds and 2 twins beds in another attached room with 1 bathroom and 2 washrooms. It was pretty good... we managed having good sound sleeps :) in that cold. The heaters are well maintained.2)The Chena Hot Springs experience was amazingThe pool area , the bathrooms, showers everything is maintained very well. If you stay at the resort you have unlimited access to the pool. We enjoyed the most of the natural springs experience.3) The Chena Restaurant is also very good...there is only one restaurant in the resort and one cafe at activity center. The servers and host are very nice and kind people. The menu is quite vast , food options are good to choose from I love their salmon pasta, chicken blt sandwich and salmon burger. Also, their breakfast menu is very good.** - Chena Hot Springs Resort have their own Green House and they use all of this fresh food produce in the restaurant.4) Chena Hot Springs Resort Activities- we did snowmobile, dog sledding and Aurora Borealis Tour. All the activities were awesome and the guides and people who helped were very nice and helpful. The Aurora Borealis Tour was mesmerizing.5) Ice Museum Tour - The beautiful Ice sculptures and the Aurora Ice bar with the Appletini severed was so good the bar tender was so funny. We witnessed an proposal of a beautiful couple at the Ice Museum.Overall Chena Hot Springs Resort is a must visit if you are planning to visit Alaska.

Awesome!!!! Forget what you think a Resort is for this place, its super nice, the food in the restaurant is delicious, but its not the exquisite resort you might have in mind. We had a great time, so much so that we extended one more night so we could soak in the hot springs more. Our room was good and in a good location but the bed pillows were very uncomfortable. Next time I will bring my own from home. Other than that, it was great. Food was good with generous portions but they could have used a bit more help like maybe a hostess to seat the guests and get water, drinks etc. 2 servers stood out for us. One was Kiatti and the other was Liam. Both very helpful and attentive even though they were very busy.

I visited this Resort, on a solo trip to see the Northern Lights. The tour that I purchased picked me up from my hotel in Fairbanks, brought me one hour to the resort, included an hour and a half in the hot spring, an hour and a half at the Ice Museum & Ice Bar- Appletini included, a 30-minute ride up the mountain- 4 hours camping out in a yurt to see the Northern Lights, 30 minute ride back down the mountain, and the one hour return to my hotel in Fairbanks-$200 total. About 30-45 minutes into camping out, Aurora lit up the sky! That experience made my ENTIRE trip!

Chena Hot Springs was a pleasant stop on our tour of Alaska. We tent-camped in their very nice campground. The outhouses could use some improvement...very rustic...but there are normal restrooms available in the lodge if outhouses are not your thing. The hot springs pool was clean and very comfortable...now, keep in mind, it is outside! There is algae growth and such...and the smell of sulphur is obvious but not overpowering. Everyone there was pleasant and helpful from staff to other guests. All the staff we came into contact with was knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant seemed similar to many others we encountered across the state...nothing to write home about but good food and pleasant staff. The dog kennel area and building were very interesting and offered much information on dog sledding and the husbandry behind the dog teams. We did not hike any of the trails available or investigate the ice museum...

The hot spring is nice but the whole experience wasn’t. We waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive and when it arrived it was wrong and poorly made. We asked our waitress to please serve us something else even if was something else small and quick and she quickly said no. She said that they were busy and that they don’t “cut in line” orders like that.We were starving and left the restaurant hungry! This place is a tourist trap. The old exterior and $28 for a pasta plate just goes to show how customer experience is not what they consider here.I have never been so mistreated in a restaurant like this one.If you come to Chen’s hot springs, please! Bring your own food!

Okay so... the spring itself is $15 per persona en $10 for resident and charge $5 per towel . Getting to the spring is one rod 56 miles straight to the end and on the way multiple river points, hike trails, and hunting location. When you get to the springs it’s cool little “town” where you spend an hour or two and see it all. You can opt in to take the tour to go to the top of some trail to see the aurora (which If they are out no need for trail) the spring itself is only open to people over 18 what they don’t tell you so for the people who vacation with kids really get screwed but they do have an indoor pool for them. Overall it’s outdoor small spring that is cool, keep in mind the Colder it is outside the more steam you get. So on a warmer day (50’s) it will not be that. Steamy

Pros: The Ice Museum Tour was nice and our tour guide Sam was great!!!Cons:- The parking lot lacks much needed directionals- The hours provided by the staff prior to us arriving for our reservation to stay at the resort were completely different after we arrived. So needless to say this made our stay very stressful trying to fit in dinner and then the Museum tour because the restaurant was packed and no reservations were allowed and the wait was endless trying to get seated prior to the 7:00 p.m. tour and then since it was taking so long we would have never made it to our tour so we had to cancel our name on the wait list and then try it again after the tour to have dinner before the hot springs closed. Their was still a long wait list once we tried again after the tour so we just ended up having to order to go and take it to our room. Not a very relaxing trip based on your timelines and set up- Now for the room we stayed in which was the Bear Suite. Definitely could use an uplift- After that long drive to get to the resort we would have really liked to relax and enjoy our stay but instead we were rushed for everything

Everyone who worked there was extremely nice and welcoming, especially Sophia and Sam at the activity Center. We didn’t stay the night at the hotel but we did eat at the restaurant twice, go to the ice museum, the hot springs, and the aurora tour. We spent a lot but it was all worth it! The food was amazing and the staff were lovely, and the hot springs felt so good (even my boyfriend who hates water loved it - makes you forget ever being cold!!). Sam took us around the ice museum, he was very funny and very kind. Sophia was our driver for the aurora tour and she was wonderful! Great driver and very knowledgable and kind. So much to see and do on this beautiful property! My 3 kids (5,7,10) walked the property and took pictures of all the cool sights: the gold panning area, kids playground, all the old tractors, the cool bbqs, the gift shop (and coffee), ice museum, lodge restaurant, and hot springs to name a few! The food and service in the lodge restaurant was 5 star and affordable which surprised me! The ice museum is year round and cost me about $35 for the tour and an appletini from a carved ice glass. The gift shop was cute and affordable and they make a good latte! I plan to come back in November with my husband for our anniversary and some hot springs time under the northern lights!

Horrible experience overall. People are rude and disgusting. Even quality of guests are questionable. So many drunk obnoxious people. The rooms were dirty and floors were sticky.Pool - dirty. Hot tubs - had hair and was dirty as if the filters were not working Hot springs - it clearly said no kids allowed but there were those people that think rules don’t apply to them and their little kids in the hot springs. Restaurant had good food and good portion sizes. (Veggies were fresh from their greenhouse) Not worth it. Save your $ and go south and spend it somewhere else in Kenai Peninsula

I only booked one night at the hotel to come over and try the hotel’s famous hot springs. And I’m glad I decided to come just for 1 day. I am not really an outdoor person, so I only visited an Ice Museum which is on the hotel’s grounds, and spent a lot of time hanging out in the hot springs. I enjoyed the hot springs, but at one point it was super crowded there, which I did not like at all (especially now during COVID-19 pandemic). Also the changing rooms and lockers looked very outdated and trashy, it did not feel clean. The inside swimming pool area was kind of dirty and nasty looking too, so I did not even want to go into the pool or hot tub. The hotel had a restaurant, which was designed very nicely, but food quality was awful, even the fish dishes did not taste good! There was no cell service, and Wi-Fi completely sucked, I could not really browse the Internet and open apps. My room was ridiculously awful looking, outdated and very small. The two twin beds were super uncomfortable, and bed sheets seemed not freshly laundered and even dusty. The bathroom was super tiny, I barely had any space there. The shower cabin was so old that you could see yellow marks all over it! Disgusting! I was so super happy to leave this terrible room and the hotel actually too. I paid $136 for my one night there, and I believe it was too pricy for the poor quality. A resort? Sorry, but for me this place did not look like a resort at all!

A place thats a pretty long drive from Fairbanks. In the winter the road can be dangerous, so be careful. The main attraction is the hot spring. Though there is a spring on the premises, the water is actually pumped into the rock pool from the spring.regardless, its not a bad way to spend the day. The pool and indoor hot tubes are pretty lame, so just use the outside pool. There are lockers available for $.50 each use, and theyre pretty small so dont bring any unnecessary items. Plan to spend at least half a day here. The food at the restaurant is like everything else in Alaska, pretty expensive. So eat there at your own risk to your wallet. Never stayed there, so I cant comment on the rooms, but the prices are up there. There have other activities as well, just be ready to pay out for them. All in all, not a bad way to spend a half to full day.

Do not waste your time or money. HUGE tourist trap! We went here in September 2019 specifically for the Northern Lights Tour, but we came early in the day to check out the other amenities they had to offer. It took four days of continuous contact to get in touch with someone to book a tour. The hot springs and pools are dirty and overcrowded. Theres no cell service, so you can pay for their wifi, which is overpriced and doesnt even work. The restaurant is hugely understaffed. Their ice museum was a very cool experience. The only reason Im even giving two stars is because of the two tour guides on the Northern Lights Tour. I dont remember their names, but one was a younger gentleman with blondish hair and a middle-aged man who also took us on the Ice Museum Tour. They were both informative, friendly, and hard workers.

A real gem of a hot spring. Accommodations are definitely old school, but the gravel floored hot spring pool was excellent. Naturally heavy with minerals and hotter than most I’ve been to (106+ degrees Fahrenheit), this is the real deal. I’ve been to hot springs all over the world, both wild and resorts, and based on the water alone this place is right near the top—you’ll feel it right to your bones. The room wasn’t too pricey compared to other places as well. Definitely a thumbs up from me.

This place is a tourist trap. The pictures make it look like a 5 star resort when it’s more similar to a motel 6. The room was alright, basic. Two sunken in queen beds. The room was HOT when we got there with no AC. Had to open a window to cool it down and the window had no screen so...hello mosquitos. The worst part was the water that came out of the bathroom sink. It was brown. And I mean dark brown, couldn’t see through it at all, and had so many particles in it it seriously grossed me out. It took a minute of letting the water run before it turned into somewhat normal water. I can get around the sulfur smell because it’s to be expected at a naturally occurring hot spring, but wow. Ate at the restaurant which was mediocre at best. Dry, what tasted like frozen fish and chips. I will give our waiter kudos because he was bar tending, seating and serving multiple sections and doing a great job. Tried to buy some stickers at the gift shop but no one would check us out so just put them back and left. The only cool thing about this place is the hot spring lake itself, but it’s not as nice as the pictures make it look either. Not worth the money, or the hour+ drive from Fairbanks.Edit:Forgot to mention the WiFi. It awful. Works for 2 minutes, then quits. Nothing ever loads.

Hot springs unforgettable experience once you get used to the fart smell. The rooms clean and quiet despite the renovations. However dont be fooled by the ice bucket theres no ice machine in the building. After searching the whole building I tried to call the front desk but another trick was waiting for me, the in room phone didnt work. Parking is limited and the staff (especially where you check-in for the tours) are distracted and disorganized. But youre probably here for the hot springs. So grab your flip flops and swimwear because this place is incredible in the winter. The subzero temperature coupled with the hot springs make for awesome photos (bring a waterproof case for your smart phone).I am docking one star because the changing room is not very well maintained and the towels they give you are absolutely terrible. But for $15 a person, its worth the hassle of getting quarters for your locker and fumbling through close quarters with naked people trying to dress up after a dip or dress down to prepare for the experience.

We spent 3 wonderful days at this resort, the hot springs were crystal clear and toasty warm to hot depending where you soaked at. Just a heads up don’t forget to drink as much water as you can, the hot water dehydrates you very quickly! Bring your water bottle, you can refill it in the building where you checked in. There is a lot to do if you want or just relax and unwind. To cool off visit the Ice museum on the property a cool 26f. And very beautiful and unique. This resort is off the grid only Verizon and ATT cell coverage works here what I have been told. We were very blessed to meet the owner Berni sp? And his family. Unfortunately he lost his wife in January and they were having a celebration of life for his wife. What a wonderful man he is and his family. Sending prayers to his family. The resort is a work in progress, and progress takes work what he said. The new hotel covered entry way and drive way was getting paved when we were there in mid Aug . The hotel rooms are nice like camp rooms, don’t expect 5 stars here maybe 3. The restaurant has amazing tasting food, 40 % of the food is grown in the green house and garden. Ooh, bring shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty, paved and in paved areas if you walk around a bit. And hiking shoes if you want to do some hiking. Lastly friendly staff .

Beautiful and peaceful place. Has a few amenities such as: outdoor hot tub, pool inside for children, (no toys however so bring your own! :)), two indoor hot tubs and a fairly clean locker room. Also no lifeguard so swim at your own risk.

Nice trails in the area that you can use for snowmobiling, hiking, cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Theres also a cool ice bar igloo. But the main attraction is certainly the hot springs. Theres a large outdoor pool with crystal clear water and varying heat levels. You can grab snow from the sides in winter and its just beautiful outside. It was snowing when we went, which I love. The sulfur smell wasnt too bad either. The indoor stuff isnt special with a warm pool and a couple hot tubs. Make sure to bring a towel or youll be charged more. Its $15/adult for entrance and lockers are 50 cents but you can just leave your stuff in an open one - its super safe. No photos of the hot springs as we left it cameras in the lockers, but surrounding area is shown.Every local we chatted with during our stay in Fairbanks asked us if we had done this, so it seems to be a top attraction and was definitely worth it!

Great hot spring pool. Dont need any package to go there... just go. Simple and convenient for a day trip. Staff is very helpful and will explain everything.

Great day trip destination from fairbanks! There are a lot of pretty hikes surrounding the area. There is very little/no reception around, sadly, unless you have verizon. Even then, the reception is very spotty and only 1x. I couldnt purchase the wifi at the resort (it wouldnt load) but my friends who did said it was bad since it comes from a satellite. The restaurant was also pretty good. I tried the alaskan salmon and duck tenders. Both were pretty good, but the salmon was amazing!! Definitely recommend!

Springs, hot tubs and pool are all dirty. Smells like wet dog. Service at Restaurant was TERRIBLE. Food wasnt awful, but wasnt amazing. Lets just say the Dry Calamari and Flavorless Halibut were the highlight of the trip.

We got the Aurora Borealis View from the resort, which came in as a plus, during the visit. The indoor pool was good but doesnt have the CLEAN feel. The outside tub was nice as well as the outdoor spring pool.

Save your money and stay somewhere nice in Fairbanks or just camp, it’s not too long of a drive to go out to Chena hot springs for the day without staying there. I should mention that the food, while expensive, was fantastic. I would definitely recommend eating at their restaurant, and all of the staff was pleasant. The hot springs themselves were fine, nothing particularly special, and the outdoor rock pool (which is the nicest part and only area children aren’t allowed) is beautiful, but there’s nowhere intentionally designed to sit/relax in it, and if you’re over 5’4” you’ll probably be unable to comfortably stand in the rock pool without cold shoulders out of the water. That made it hard for me to relax in the only area without screaming children, which was a bummer, although they have made a lot of improvements in the past few years. We stayed at the Chena Hot Springs “Resort” for just one night, thankfully. The rooms are not heated at all until the weather outside is below freezing, and the weather was in the 30s and 40s (F) while we were there so the upstairs room we had was pretty freakin cold. I slept in pants and long sleeves under the covers. The room (2 queen beds) was small, and the shower was TINY. I am a 5’6’ 120lb female and was uncomfortable in the shower, although there are also showers in the hot springs locker rooms, which I would recommend using instead. Overall, I wouldn’t have a problem if they just called it a motel instead of a resort.

An absolute must see and or stay, I can only imagine how amazing it would be in winter. Rooms are basic but really youre paying for the unique setting and experience.

This place was amazing. My group and I did a lot here. We had brunch at the restaurant, relaxed in the hot spring, shopped at the gift shop, did a 45 minute ATV tour, and marveled at the ice sculptures in the ice museum. And there was still so much more to do! A tourist getaway that is reasonably priced. Definitely recommend if youre in the Fairbanks area.

This is well off the beaten path but its no secret! Loved the hot springs, the indoor pool was a bit over crowded but a beautiful resort. We did not stay at the hotel on the grounds and we THANKFULLY brought our own towels to save the $5.00 upcharge to use the resorts towels. The changing rooms were quite nice, be sure to bring change for the lockers! We enjoyed a lovely lunch at their restaurant and the food was delicious but not near enough servers for the crowd.Definitely looking forward to returning to enjoy the Northern Lights and the hot springs in the winter months!
