My entire family consisting of myself, my wife, and 5 young kids had the greatest time here! Very good memories that will last a lifetime!!!! It was so much fun seeing the exhibits and sliding down the ice slides! I thought it was really cool (no pun intended) they converted an old movie theater into this museum.

What a fun little treasure in Fairbanks! Admission is $15/person and the experience starts with a 20 minute video on ice carving and its historical and cultural presence in Alaska. Then we have 20 minutes of exploring the ice sculptures and posing for pictures with them, they are all pretty interactive! There is even an ice slide we can slide down using the sled provided, how fun! The experience is wrapped up with a demonstration of carving ice and incorporating color into the carving by the funny and nice host. Great visit!

Deceptive from the Outside, cute little place. You will be in and out in an hour. My kids (14 and 9) loved it. There is an ice slide inside both the kids and adults loved. If you are in Fairbanks, it is a good bit of fun and the owners really make an effort to make the experience fun. There is a slight language barrier but not enough to dampen the experience.

This was so cool. Never been to an u w museum. It was a lot of fun. Cold but fun. You also get a personal ice carving show from the owner. It’s a must see just a little place. But it brought me make to my kiddo days. A ice slide, bar, stools, etc. it’s cheap and doesn’t take all day. You can add this in with something else you’re doing in the area.

Wandering around Fairbanks with some time to kill, the Ice Museum helped to kill that time. The highlight is Andy, who took the time to tell us which sculptures to take photos of (spoiler alert: its all of them ). The ice slide was really fun. Then Andy demonstrated some ice carving and that was also pretty ok. Museum gets like 2 stars, but Andy gets 5.

I liked the second half, but sitting thru he movie was tough. They really need to update the movie which must be at least two decades old. The owner was nice and engaging. Id give the movie three stars and the exhibits four stars and the demo three stars. So like 3.3 stars. At fifteen bucks a head its a good value, but fell a little below my expectations.

This place was fun! The film was rather dated and low quality, but the host of the tour (Andy) was very friendly, fun and talented! My 19 year old son and I enjoyed the experience and even went down the ice slide! It was an experience that we will remember for better or worse. It starts off with a 20 minute video that is composed of solely pictures that are zoomed in on. Later we embarked into the cooler where we took pictures and were encouraged to slide down a ramp of ice on a sled. Andy’s enthusiasm made this aspect of the tour worth it. Lastly we watched Andy carve a flower and message into a block of ice. So fun!

My wife and I definitely expected more. The museum has very few ice sculptures, maybe 10 that are centered around visitor interaction (sitting on, standing by for a photo, etc.) . The video shows a lot of amazing pieces that you would love to see in the museum, but thats not what they have. The video itself is very dated and mostly just a slideshow with narrative. The visit basically sells you the ice sculpting competition in March and how awesome it is....but its September

One thing you need to get used to is cost. Everything in Fairbanks is costly. That being said, the ice museum is a decent place to see if youre a tourist. You get a movie about life in Fairbanks, geared mostly around the ice Alaska event (the museums owner also owns the ice Alaska venue). If you want to see an ice slide and a few sculptures in the summertime, thats cool. Ice Alaska is better venue, if you have the opportunity to come to Fairbanks in February, its much more exciting.

Most are photos from Chena Hot Springs, so do not be fooled! Regardless, this was a nice spot to visit. Lived in Fairbanks for almost 5 years before moving back down to the lower 48.
