I went in for balayage and I got all over highlights. My hair doesn’t look bad it’s got some dimension, as days go by it looks not so great. I paid $200, a bit overpriced. I’m bummed because I’m not from area and I thought I had done good research on where I would Get my hair done. After the wash I didn’t get any product added to my hair, heat protection or anything went straight to blow dry and curl. I was kinda thrown off. The hair dresser was nice.

Was overcharged by $60 and they did not return my phone call when I called to question it. When I called a second time 10 days later, they did finally answer and gave me a refund. Overall, I felt that experience was kind of shady. I know these things happen, but not returning my call made me feel like they didn’t care about overcharging me.

Scott the owner is an amazing stylist and an admiring mentor to his fabulous stylist and team. Hands down best owner and team In town. Scott focuses on the quality of his employees journey and client journey. You can truly feel from the moment you step foot into the salon you are right where you need to be for all your beauty needs .

Went in for Makeup, first ladie turned me orange and my upper lip looked like I had a stash , I called in and they had me come back in. Brittany went above and beyond for mentoring make sure everything was perfect! Even styled my hair! I definitely will be back !♡

Great atmosphere and staff

I always love S salon! Ive been going here to get my hair done since Scott opened the shop and my mother goes there too. The atmosphere is always inviting with creative energy. I love how Scott supports local artists and events too. Highly recommend Scott and Brittany (currently shes a student but will graduate this spring/summer). Im sure others there are great too, but Ive only had Scott and Brittany do my hair. They also do makeup there!

I cant believe it took me so long to come here! It is professional, fun, and they do a great job! All the stylist are great conversationalist and most importantly know what they are doing!

I am in Alaska for a one year military assignment. I had my hair cut once before at another salon in AK and was not thrilled with the cut; however, I understand that sometimes, the bad cut is the direct result of a poor description of the desired style (on the part of the client). I digress..I have medium / tight curly hair and have always been very careful in choosing a stylist. I ran across the S Salon through google maps search and it had fairly good reviews and I was eager to get a new cut for my impending vacation. My overall experience was positive, and after settling down, my hair looks & feels fantastic. In an attempt to remain objective and concise, I am outlining the pros and cons below. For me, the pros far outweigh the cons.Cons:Noisy, busy salon (If you like a quiet relaxing experience, this can be off putting)Online scheduling program seems inoperativeMy stylists personality was a bit overpoweringParking was scarce (park on the street if you can)Pros:Salon scheduled me on short noticeReceptionist was professional and helpfulSalon (although packed with people) was clean and well organizedMy cut turned out beautifullyThe owner sent me home with a complimentary sample pack of the products used on my hair.Salon supports local artistsWaiting area is clean and spacious with beverage offerings (receptionist offered me a beverage)NOTE: I had no idea what a Deva cut was. Turns out, it is just a dry cut meant to preserve the natural curl pattern of the hair. Apparently, the Deva cut is an effective method as my curls have come back to their natural glory ;)

I have only ever had good experiences here. I used to have a regular girl I went to, but she left the state. Since then, I have been seen by two other girls who were great and listened to what I wanted or made suggestions. Everyone at the salon is welcoming and friendly. If you need an appointment, book early because they can fill up fast!

Absolutely love S Salon! Ive gone to Liza for years, and she always does absolutely amazing work! In that time, I have watched what everyone else in the shop turn out; it is an immensely talented team. Ive only had one other stylist from S Salon, Skyler, do my hair before and she was super nice, easy to talk to, and knew what she was doing. I would recommend any one of the stylists here, no doubt!

Highly Recommended! I loved the haircut I got from Scott, it is an amazing complex cut, yet easy to style either curly or straight. Scott gave me a lot of curl education and how to enhance my natural curl, and I love it so much I dont think I will be blowing it out straight any time soon. Although it looks great both ways. S Salon is in a great downtown location and the employees are always nice, available, and attentive. Win, win, win!

Brittany is seriously such a delight! So sweet and easy to talk to! She paid very close attention to detail and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. When I mentioned that I didnt want any color on my face she went above and beyond to make sure there was no color left on my face, ears or neck. Ill definitely be returning to see her again in the future!I also wanted to mention that Sharon cut my boyfriends hair and did an amazing job! She was very sweet and polite the entire time. You could definitely tell she knew exactly what she was doing. My boyfriend didnt find anything wrong with his hair, which was a first for him, hell definitely be back to see her. :)

I really enjoyed Sydney working on my hair! She listened to what I wanted and didnt try to push me another way. Very nice atmosphere! I am looking forward to my next appointment with her!

I just got my hair colored and done up by Anita and she was great! Not only was it an enjoyable conversation but she was able to be really creative with my colorful peekaboo. 10/10

Great salon! I was nervous to find a salon comparable to one back in the lower 48 and S Salon does not disappoint. Sierra does a wonderful job.

To the person who keeps creating multiple profiles to slander S Salon & Skyler: mental health is a subject I take very seriously. I strongly suggest you seek help. There are medications, cognitive behavioral therapy, homeopathic therapy, etc available to you. It is unfortunate that you are in a state of mind that allows you to believe that such things have happened to you. I have been to S Salon several times and feel so welcomed when I go there. The quality of work is incredible and I always leave looking and feeling beautiful.Also, why would you continue to go to a salon that you feel you didnt get the quality of service you expected several times? And on top of that, give the stylist gift cards, which shows that you are praising her work? That doesnt even make sense. If I was unhappy with an establishment the first time, I would consider giving them a second chance. After that, I would move on. And I definitely wouldnt go out of my way to give the person additional gifts if I didnt think they work was efficient. Super weird.

I cant begin to tell you how highly I think of S Salon & Studio from the Owner to the Staff they are TOP NOTCH! Liza has always done a wonderful job! Professional, on time, and skilled. She listens and achieves the ideas I have for cuts and colors. Im always welcomed by friendly staff. I leave feeling like my money was well spent every time.

I had a cut and beard trim from Skyler. She was friendly, professional and made me look great. She hooked me up with a great oil for my beard. I would recommend her to all my friends and family

I got my hair cut by Sydney and she did a fantastic job, when I walked in I was expecting to wait but she was on time and ready for me. Being a man I normally just get my hair cut but she washed my hair and before I knew it she was done. Highly recommend her!!!

Very friendly staff and clean salon. I brought photos of the style I wanted and I got assured she understood and can do the cut instead it was a choppy short haircut. My hair is semi thick and I had mentioned it to my stylist and I wanted short/medium layers and I got a bulbous layered cut shorter and not what I had envisioned.The effort was very much present just not a flattering cut. I will not be returning. To be fair the color she had done on the last client was beautiful.

Sharon did my hair today and she was AMAZING! I am very picky with my hair and she went above and beyond and my hair looks more perfect than it ever has. She touched up my blonde roots, and trimmed my hair. I would highly recommend her. Amazing is all I can say! Thank you Sharon!

Went from extremely long hair to a lob & now Im rockin a beautiful bob by Skylar. Skylar is my short hair Goddess, the only person Ill let touch my hair now! Great environment with tons of nice people, I very much recommend S Salon & their staff.

I walked in looking like Frankensteins Monster had just cut my hair with a chainsaw, due to a god-awful job done by the old Korean lady at Olympic Barbershop, and left looking legitimately presentable. Shout out to Kirsten for the quick, and very high quality fix. Cant thank you enough.

Came in with my hair all messed up from previous cuts from salons that claimed they knew what they were doing. I went to 4 different ladies to cut my hair and I always ended unhappy with the works they did. When I came here a lady name Amanda did a really great job fixing the mess using scissor instead of clippers to give me the real A line Bob Ive been looking for and I left very happy and satisfied. If I knew this place existed 2 years ago I wouldve been a regular customer by now, but I highly recommend S Salon, very nice place with friendly staff. Thank you S Salon!

I have Skyler cut and dye my hair twice already came out perfect both times. And she was able to cut all 3 of my lil kiddos hair in under 45 mins. And that was amazing to me. She did an amazing job on my hair and my kids hair. Highly recommend Skyler!!

Had a not great haircut with an inexperienced stylist who seemed unable to understand what I wanted. Perhaps she is just not experienced with short cuts. Left the salon very unhappy. Initial attempts to rectify the situation were unsatisfactory as they said they could make a new appointment for me the next week and then maybe the next day. Living 100 miles away made a return the next day impossible and the next week undesirable. A few hours later, Amanda was able to work me in around another customer. She did a great job and I am very happy with the cut which is exactly what I was asking for. I also appreciated that the owner stopped me on the way out to look at the cut and make sure I was happy with it. I hope to return for another cut with Amanda in the future.

I scheduled an appointment to do deep condition, blow dry and flat iron. The receptionist instead of scheduling this appointment correctly, she mistakenly booked me for only deep condition. I was then told that they made another appointment for me at another place and wanted me to pay for the minimum work that they did. Extremely expensive and not for those with curly or thick hair.

Hands down the only salon worth going to if you want a wonderful experience every time. Ive been going for years and have never left unhappy. All of the stylists come together as a team to deliver top notch service and results. They listen to their clients. Not only are they obsessed with giving you what you want but they are so community oriented- a refreshing change from self centered businesses and exactly what this town needs. Skyler in particular has always been professional and has proven herself as a young up and coming stylist. Shes put in the time and the work to be where she is and I highly recommend her services to anyone as shes got an amazing personality and has wonderful customer service. Her skills as a stylist are right on par with those of her peers and her etiquette and her way with people is admirable.

Sounds like the bookkeeping needs to be updated as well at the S Salon. Or someone doesnt want to take responsibility. The responses alone from the owner states enough of the professionalism of S Salon. Instead of calling people nut jobs, maybe Skyler should take all of this as a learning/growing experience and learn that the customer comes first (not the amount of clientele) and to respect peoples boundaries by not getting too personal. I agree with Erica and Susan. I experienced problems with Skyler as well. She seemed nice but her personal talk and questions were way too much for me as well. I stopped going to S Salon because of the lack of professionalism. She seems to have a great friend to speak for her, but the dysfunction of it all is not worth the salon experience. I moved on to another salon and am happy there.

I would never use them for an event! The bridesmaid makeup was amateur at best. I had to fix their make when we got to our hotel. Foundation wasnt blended and didnt match their skin. And let not talk about eye makeup. The brides updo was beautiful and well done by brittany. As far as the rest of bridesmaid it wasnt worth what was charged. They were over booked and moved our appointment many times. I would not suggest using them.

My hairdresser was awesome my perm is beautiful. .BUT the receptionist and of all people the owner were extremely rude to my husband! ! He felt he hadto apologize for walking in the door .and the prices are ridiculous. Supposed to go back for color and highlights, but for $200. No thank you. .

We had the unfortunate displeasure of choosing S Salon while stationed in Fairbanks. A young lady who cut our hair was undesirably off when cutting. She did not get one hairstyle correct . I find that blasting customers because they disagree with the service rendered is extremely unprofessional. Luckily we have moved out of the state and are much happier at our home salon.

People have the right to speak their review. I think that instead of claiming fake why not instead read the reviews and take them to heart. Over it...dont forget us. We are fake too and psychopaths. (whatever)I will add though, as I read through all of these, my girlfriend also experienced some uncontrollable mouth problems with Skyler. She does seem nice, but my girl would state that she was also nervous and took time to calm down after visiting with Skyler. She did prod for extra business, maybe it is Skylers fault for not having the clientele that she needs.

The quality of work you get at S Salon is incredible. The employees are super friendly and it has a very comfortable atmosphere.

I find a lack of professionalism at the S Salon. I believe that instead of pointing fingers and mistreating clients that they should at least humble themselves and find some sort of responsibility for actions assumed. Many people are writing negative reviews. There are reasons behind the reviews, they are not pulled out from the clouds.

The lack of communication at this salon was very apparent. I had a situation that I tried to rectify to no avail. I received attitude from the front desk for errors made by staff and not myself. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.

Scotts place is so upbeat and fun, and I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Theres an older lady there. Dont let her touch your hair. She scratched me (not the good kind), got water in my ears, down my back. Burned my scalp with the blow dryer. All around terrible experience.
