This relatively small museum is packed with the historical marvels of when Ennis was the central hub for the great railway era of the late 1800s on into the early 1900s. Our boys loved the huge diorama and the many vintage model train engines on display. The introductory video was very informative and helped set the stage for the rest of our self guided tour. Before we left we got to tour the big caboose outside of the museum. Definitely worth the trip.
This is an amazing museum with exhibits that are in fabulous condition. The museum quite rightly dwells on how the railroad started the growth of Ennis. What is really interesting is how the it also reflects on the community and business as well. The people working there are super friendly as well.
We had such an awesome time exploring the museum! There is so much to see in such a small space. The staff was very kind and friendly. Would recommend to anyone!
Good history about the Southern Pacific railroad. Retired train employees had very interesting stories to tell & were very informative about past railroading.
Ennis was a popular railroad town that had more than a dozen daily passenger trains stopping for a meal and crew change daiy in the 1940s.. The museum accurately displays this history and in fun to visit for all ages
Awesome experience, takes about an hour to read everything.
Cute little train museum that told the history of the city and its ties to the rail road. My four year old loved the toy trains and enjoyed climbing on the engine outside. Great gift shop that was pretty cheap cost only three dollars an adult to get in. Well worth the money!
Great museum. We had an informative informal tour by Needa since it was raining and we were the only visitors! My train loving son was really glad we stopped by. Neat place with lots of history.
We went on a school field trip. Informative, and educational on Ennis History. Nice staff. Cool antiques.
Although the museum was small, it was a joy for my kids. They were awed with all the displays. It is very informative. The icing on the cake was when a train came to a full stop right in front of the station and got to wave at the conductor.
We got a personal tour from the docent there who was friendly and knowledgeable. This place was educational and engaging for young and old alike.
Great pieces of Ennis history.
Open caboose from the MKT. Your kids can climb on rail stock in Denison and Saginaw unsupervised. Frisco is tour guided. In Ennis, this one is open. Currently it is the best rail museum in north texas until frisco gets theirs finalized. Well worth the trip.
Great place, great staff
