HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This is a hidden gem! Although we were a little nervous picking such a newer venue, we are so glad we took the chance on them! We could not have asked for a better facility or location! We were able to hold our ceremony & reception all in once place! Beautiful space, so many photo ops on the golf course, and a spacious bridal suite to enjoy with your bridal party! The event coordinator & manager, Candace & Janet are GREAT & were so accommodating to all my requests as a bride! Get the word out there & book with them! You will not be disappointed!!! Our wedding day could not have been anymore perfect ️

I played this golf for the first time last week in a scramble, and it was immediately one of my top 10 favorite courses in Ohio. The event my friend and I played in was very professionally run. The course layout is phenomenal and fun. I hadn’t played the course since it was Spring Valley Country Club in 2006. I love how Jack Nicklaus left the great holes Spring Valley once had alone, while completely renovating others. Just a beautiful golf course in Elyria.

Golf in northeast ohio is a difficult business. I have played all over the country and what valley is doing is really raising the bar for everyone. The course does need a little work but i believe they are doing. Could use some paved cart paths but overall its great. The course is run well. Its one of the only courses that does tee times right with 15 min gaps. Every other course up here is 10 minutes and sometimes 8. Great work valley. Keep up the improvements

The food at the restaurant is high quality and prepared by a chef. Its a hidden gem! Its a beautiful place to go and dine w no waiting!

To my fault, I left a sand wedge on the course. A good patron returned it, and I called within 48 hours to confirm someone turned it in. Once I was able to have a neighbor stop by the course to pick it up (few weeks later)- they lost it, gave it to someone else without proper identification, or an employee stole it. Once I brought it up to the management (Barry Friedman) literally had no remorse and his responses were quite rude and tasteless. I have referred many golfers to this course and always bring a foursome every year to this course. They have lost a customer for life due to their rudeness and irresponsible customer service. Hope the $100 dollar club was worth losing a customer for life. Bad business decisions.

First time playing the Valley and it was a great round of golf. Came out as a single and paired up with another gentleman. Pace of play was great for a noon Sunday tee-time (just under 4 hours). The course layout is very unique with several challenging holes and great scenic views. Course conditions were very good considering the heat wave the area has had. Clubhouse was beautiful and the staff was very welcoming. Cant wait to come back here in the spring when the river is rolling strong.

Set up a venue tour for my wedding weeks in advance. Drove an hour out to meet with Jill at the event center. After arriving, nobody was there to greet me, the venue was empty and the event center and coordinator, Janet, would not answer their phones. Its been hours since this appointment and nobody has called me or messaged me back, even after leaving messages. Would be understandable on a weekend, but today is a weekday. Very disappointed

I love this place. I used to work at Spring Valley under different management. The golf is great, the cart paths aren’t finished yet so the gravel gets a little dusty on dry days, that’s about my only complaint. Everything here is excellent, one of the 3 best places in the City of Elyria to eat for sure. Great lunch menu and prices. Great beer selection. Try the beer cheese and truffle fries. Great place to do brunch with lots of cocktail options. Excellent place if your in the mood for a steak. Rent a simulator by the hour and have food and drink brought to you while you play just like TopGolf. Great place to rent a room for events as well.

Nice place... huge improvement over the old Spring Valley. Met some friends... appetizers , drinks and dinner we will be back..Not a Golfer but the course looks beautiful...

Very Beautiful golf course. But it is very difficult. Me and my buddy both lost alot of balls and we are usually above average golfers. I would not play this course if you are just begining. Also it is a bit pricey $60 per person for 18 holes. Compared to the other courses around its almost double the price.

Beautiful course near Black River. Lots of dog rights and plenty of hills. Awesome condition! Im gonna come back as a regular!

The course has come a long way from the ol Spring Valley days. I would say currently its one of the best courses in the area. My only issue is replace the PVC with plastic noodles so the ball drops in for a true score. Some of the holes the PVC is even with the ground level.

Josh was a fabulous server. And the food was fabulous as well. We love to sit out on the patio with our pup and enjoy the scenery and nice weather.

This course is one of the youngest and best courses in northeastern Ohio. Barry the head pro is a great guy to talk to and get info about the course. Overall a huge fan of this course

Went on a soggy wet day. Will definitely return for a dryer play! Challenging course in a great landscape with the river running throughout the course! Even with the course being wet the greens were true and good speed!!! Cant wait to play it dry!!!!

This place is a gem!!!! The food was decent, not great, but good. The seating and the atmosphere are phenomenal. Service was impeccable!!!! Im not one to write many reviews, but I played the course this past weekend and it has come a long way back to CC status from the Ol Spring Valley Days. VERY NICE all the way around and it is now one of the best courses in the area. My only critique is changing the PVC in the holes to foam and/or lowering it down into the cup so the ball drops half way in (covid-19 rules). Most of the holes, the PVC is level with the ground while putting.

Great course and a hard course but a little pricey, would return but only on a weekday where prices are a little lower

Very good food and nice service. Pizza had lots of seasoning and beef sandwiches were overstuffed. Unique fries and peppercorn ranch is absolutely incredible.

Not your neighborhood bar. The place seems to be mostly set up for the golfers of the course. That said, the place is very nice, they used a lot of wood and brick that was found on the course when it underwent renovations in the bar. The food is upscale, service is nice, drinks are good but it comes at a pretty high price. You and your friend will have a tough time getting out of there for less than $65. This is a fact. Ive been there 3x lowest bill was $65 highest was $115 but another couple joined us that night and i picked up their miller lite bottles. I think they each had 3 beers. Its Definitely worth a trip to check it out, but its not the kind of place you want to goto everyday!

Love the layout of the course. It is new and slightly on the young side so its not quite where its going to be, but the greens ate great fairways nice and short. Lots of traps due to the golden bear design.

A little pricey, but Im a senior and loved the course. It still has that country club feel. Challenging and well manicured yet friendly and helpful. One needs to play it more than once to get comfortable with the terrain.

Chocolate martini was delicious and the pizza was yummy. The French onion soup was average at best ... my toast was burnt! Will definitely go back.

Great fun place to eat and hang out! We had my sons 23rd Birthday dinner here and did the indoor golf. His favorite! The food is so delicious! And presented so beautifully. The atmosphere is rustic with beautiful wood and brick. Nice dining experience! Will return again!

Challenging course. Plenty of tough greens with sand traps that will dare you to clear them from the tips. Fairways were average in terms of condition. Clubhouse and bar seem to be very nice.

Best golfing experience in NEOH Ive ever had. What golf course has their own craft beer as well? Worth the trip from wherever you call home.

The course was challenging and in great shape, in a couple of spots you can tell its a newer course but its still in outstanding shape. The staff was top notch and when I called to make my tee time, I was told about them airifing the green even though my tee time wasnt for two weeks after and they had done it the week before I had called. I took my father there for his birthday and we all had a great time, the only disappointment was that I had forgotten to make reservations for the black river tavern and we didnt have time to wait an hour for a table but that wasnt in anyway their fault it was totally on me. They were friendly and curtious and the course lived up to expectations. We plan on playing again and the next time make reservations for the end of the round.

Save your money the course is 2 to 3 years away from being what you expect. GPS devices do not work and only markers are at 150. Fairways need more time to fill in. Bar and food were great.

Played it yesterday great track!!! Even with all the rain they fairways and tees were all mown nicely. Some holes are kinda blah and plenty of good holes. Scenery is great!!! Plays very fair yet challenging look forward to playing it when its dry and greens arent punched!!! Seems greenskeeper knows a little something!!!

This was probably our 5th visit to Black River Tavern, and it has not disappointed!!! The food is amazing and at very reasonable prices! The décor with all the stone, brick and wood is mesmerizing. I loved hearing how the tables are made out of wood from the golf course, not letting any wood go to waste. In addition, the one wall made of differing sizes and all the species of trees with their rich tones is very intriguing and unique!

We went to the Black River Tavern. The atmosphere was great. The food was amazing. I had the Autumn Pork rib chop. It was really good but the bussell sprouts that came with it were to die for.

Tee to green is nice but the common grounds need help, cart paths are gravel which was horrible. I feel like I was on the baseball diamond all day.

The black River tavern at valley of the eagles is the best local restaurant in elyria. They have gourmet burgers, sandwiches, and entrees that stand toe to toe with any other high end restaurant in Lorain county. Burgers are around 10 dollars. Steaks are $20-30. All worth every penny. The building itself is really nice. woodwork is hand carved from local trees. They have an entertainment area with golf based games that look like a lot of fun.

It is Funny that You ask, because My Crew was on the other side of the Creek at Cherry Ridge, having a Blast and Not Going Broke. Your Lame approach of moderately pricing 5 holes of Golf is a Weak Attempt of trying to make the ridiculous fees that You think are fair. #Really #Get A Grip

This is a Jack Nicklaus golf course that took four years to remodel and has been open for two seasons. It plays well with some very challenging holes but needs some work. It is also very scenic as it plays in the Black River valley area. There are more then a few bare patches that need seeding. It needs a lot of just sprucing up, trimming ditch areas etc. The day we played there were a lot of maintenance staff sitting on their equipment not doing anything. The cart paths are gravel and could use some maintenance.I know they have been instructed to not mow while golfers are playing the hole but they need more productivity out of their staff. Typically on most courses the staff is on the job by 5 or 6 AM,. start on the first hole and stay ahead of the golfers. Way too much down time. We live on two golf courses - one in Ohio and one in Florida so we see and are very attuned to golf course maintenance.

Staff got 5 of 5 stars... Course is subpar. Horrid layout. Drove past the 1st hole four times on the front 9. No rhyme or reason to layout. Tee off towards the clubhouse and parking lot on 9, almost kill a landscaper as they are 220 yards away. Needs major changes, layout on top!

We went to the Black River Tavern to have dinner at this location and if there were 6 stars, they would definitely deserve it! The food is wonderful and the place is absolutely gorgeous! This IS my new favorite place to eat!!

Newly renovated golf course & clubhouse of fun atmosphere. Course needs maturity & parking lot is a mess, just takes time to come together.

Its going to be great if all the up dates go through. Fast greens good lay out still needs some work. Had a nice time. Inside very nice and friendly.

Well worth the wait for the course to reopen. The course is scenic and well-maintained. The black river tavern is beautiful and the staff is top notch. James in the pro shop is the best!

Played indoors on the simulator. As we played, a server offered us refreshments and we ordered. Service was excellent and the prevailing attitude was very good by employees.. Definitely will go back and recommend others to go there.

Highly disappointed in the course. I Couldn’t wait to take my father in law and he said he would never play there again. The course was in terrible shape, the tee boxes were cement, broke numerous tees trying to get them into the ground. The fairways were burnt out, like hitting off of cement. Most disappointing is the landscaping, it is not maintained at all! You can’t walk into the taller grass areas because they are covered in 3 foot tall pricker bushes. The bunkers are full of rocks and terrible sand. The only holes in decent shape are the ones closest to the road, so passerby’s can see them, the further away from the road you get, the worse the conditions. For being a Nicklaus design, I was expecting a lot more.

Great revamped course. Formerly Spring Valley Country Club, redesigned by Jack Nicklaus Design, this public course is beautiful and challenging. I lost about a dozen balls on my first round. Id give it five stars if not for the high cost of a round/membership. I hope they succeed, but Ill probably stay away until its affordable.

Food was just ok, server occupied with something else. First visit was a better experience. This was my second visit. I probably wont go back for dinner.

Could be 5 stars in another year or two. Just needs to grow in a little bit. Layout was fun and staff was very nice. Price was a little high for a course that is not really complete yet.

Just had a 10am tee time yesterday and this course is humbling. Been a while sense Ive seen that many sixes. Its still under construction so a lot of dust in the air till the cart paths are finished. I would of payed an extra $100 to bring the starter with me. He was the most informative and personable starter I have ever spoken with. He took the time to explain the layout and things to watch for which helped pace out the players on the course. We never had to wait on a hole and no one caught up to us either. Simply there starter did an amazing job. The course itself has some rough and bare spots but nothing that isnt expected for a new course, with a season of growth and a winter to rest it is going to be the most beautiful course in the area. We did the $40 18 yesterday and it was worth every penny even with the condition of construction. The starter also told us that it is going to be $60 next year when its finished, which is still an amazing price for the course. Lastly I can say jack makes some evil bunkers. The course as is now is 4.75 of 5 stars but by next year it will be an easy 5 and the staff puts it well over the top of any course in the area. I will be back soon. (I believe I have found a new home course)

Shows promise... can definitely tell its a Nicklaus design... huge risk/reward options... needs time to mature. Club house service definitely needs work! 10 minutes to grab a water at turn while rangers giving grief about pace.... get priorities straight!

Nice course. Greens were slow. I’m sure they will be better next year. Growing pains. It’s a course that needs to be played more then once. It was my first time and not sure if where to hit it to.

We werent golfing, but got to spend some seriously lovely time sitting on the patio drinking cocktails and wondering if we should take up golf. Esthetically stunning.

They took a perfectly good course and totally screwed it up. Removed over 1000 trees that made it a beautiful course. Dont waste your money. Nothing there to see.

One of the worst experiences I’ve had on a golf course. Grounds crew guy was taking a pee behind a tee box that I was on, course is in horrible condition and it looks like they have goats doing the maintenance

I have always had good food here.

Still not fully matured. Some awkward rides between holes. Bar and proshop area really interesting with several video simulators. Could be a great night out in the winter. Overall, its going in the right direction.
