As a student and now an alumni of CWU I can say that this rec center is fantastic. Staffed by students and professionals who treat you with respect for everything you are doing with the equipment and activities that are available in this facility. There is a lot to do here from all the sports you can play on the four basketball courts to the rock wall which is extremely fun to top rope and boulder on. It can be busy at times which is the only downside so time your schedule well to maximize what you want to do. Another con is that the pool is not in the same location, it would be wonderful if it was but it is only a few blocks away. Final thoughts are you should visit or use this facility as a place to work out not only because of the opportunity but the community, cheers!

A fine recreation center situated in the SURC building of the CWU campus. 3 large basketball courts with an upper level 1/8 mile indoor track as well as workout rooms, and a very large variety of machines and freeweights spread across two floors provide ample opportunities to personalize your fitness training regime. Additional services include a climbing area, saunas and free day-use lockers. There is also an aquatic center located to the north of campus with a full size swimming pool. Equipment rentals are available for tennis, badminton, ping pong, boxing and many more sports. Well worth the fee to retain use of this excellent gym after graduation!

I chaperoned middle schoolers to CWU for an orchestra festival. We arrived at the universitys music hall on a sunny day in winter. While waiting for our schools scheduled performance, we walked around the campus and was attracted by its atmosphere. So calm and quiet, it was lack of the scene of busy running crowd as impressed at a few other colleges. We enjoyed a relaxed campus tour and were delighted by the variety of lunch choices at its cafeteria (located inside student union) before returning to music hall for the festival program. The festival ran smoothly and successfully, starting from warm up, on-stage performance, through after-performance clinic. The faculty, staff and volunteer college students provided professional and courteous guiding. Our middle schoolers were benefited and felt grateful. It was a memorable event and wonderful field trip for these young minds.
