A nice walk for a nice day. Dont let the first hill by the parking lot and the restrooms put you off. After that the trail is easy. In the Autumn when we visited, we saw a couple people slip on the leaves, but if you are careful you should have a beautiful hike. The falls are just a short distance from the parking lot and are in two stages separated by a short distance so dont stop at the first smaller falls.

Absolutely love getting away for a day hiking trip to this lovely fall in Howard County. Fun little watering hole for the whole family to just stop and take in its beauty, or take photos, or better yet step into the water to cool off and/or play.

This is really nice hiking trail. There are several paths you can take depending on your fitness and skill level. The paths are well marked and easy to follow when you consult the maps that are available on line.

Nice looking falls in a gorge with good trials up on the ridge looking down at the falls (for waking, running, and mountain biking). Plus some old stone ruins of small buildings to explore. Overall nice place with a scenic view and plenty of miles of trails.

A beautiful trail to hike. Ive been here on a Saturday and a Monday morning. Saturday was packed with families and people having photo shoots near the falls. Monday morning was very chill and relaxing. Depending on the trail you hike to get here, be prepared for mud and wear proper hiking boots!

About as close to baltimore as you can get for real nature. I only give it a 4 mainly as compared to other waterfalls. Still worth a trip out if you live in the city.

It was a decent trail, definitely for first time hikers. The waterfall was packed with people and it wasnt too big but it was a fun area to play around in and maybe even get your feet wet. 3.15 rating in my book.

Absolutely amazing place to visit. The trails are well maintained and several biking paths are available. Parking can get a little rough during the busier times but its not too bad. Beautiful and peaceful to just take a walk, and theres a little rock climbing if your willing to go out of the way for it

Park at the swinging bridge and enjoy a trail walk with great Falls to view along the way. Got a chance to check it out in the last freeze and it did not disappoint.Lots of trails right in the area, make sure to get there early in nice weather to get a good parking spot. Lots of places to stop and take in all that mother nature has to offer. Please be considerate and leave no trace behind. There is usually never a problem here with trash but we should always be mindful

Beautiful waterfall within the trail loop! It takes ~20 minutes to get there from one opening of the trail where you can park on the street. The main parking lot was full so we parked along the road. Great place to take your kids/friends! There aren’t many steep inclines (1 or 2 little hills) so it’s a nice easy hike.

This is a beautiful area and trail to go around, its rather nice to see during the spring or autumn seasons. Heres a few pros and cons:Pros: Lovely views and trails are well-marked, theres a playground near the river and its a good fishing spot, the park is very large, can bring pets as long as theyre on a leash, cycling is okayCons: Bring a map its easy to be lost if youre not familiar with the area, parking fills up fast--arrived at 9am one time and it was already full, wear good hiking shoes, if youre hoping for a quiet hike go on the weekdays or when its not Summer Vacation.

It was muddy and crowded, but still a nice little hike for kids (we did a lot of about 2.5-3 mi). Falls are nice but just ok, the hike included a little bit of rock scramble and crossing a stream on stepping stones, but there were plenty of small children and small dogs handling it as well as babies in bjorn/wraps. Theres a suspension bridge and a nice area by the river nearby to the falls, and old stone foundations for the kids to explore. Theres a bathroom facility and (full) parking lot by the bridge, but be aware there were no trashcans in sight so prepare to pack out whatever you bring.

Cool destination within the park that is not very far from the parking lot. Just a short hike in. This place gets quit crowded during nice weekends. I generally try to make this the halfway point on my hikes and usually eat lunch there while listening to the water.

Wonderful place that we hike in all seasons. Although of course law & signs say all dogs need to be leashed, would highly encourage folks to just relax when meeting an off leashed dog. Makes everything worse when you tense up w/ or w/o a dog. Understand we all have histories. Just a thought.

It was a very quick hike to the falls. ~5 minutes walking from the trail head in Patapsco Park. So it is great for kids and day trippers. They do have trails after the falls which are beautiful for trail running or a leisurely stroll by the creek which feeds the falls. It is a relatively easy hike. There are two stream crossings and a small segment of the trail with rocks which need to be navigated up the hill from the falls.

Cleared out trails marked with colors and easy to follow. Easy to hard perfect for the mood you are in. Plenty of cool looking water spots to stop at. Scenic and serene. Perfect for a peaceful little getaway that you dont even need to travel to get too. Lots of dogs and people on the trails and on the side of the river on the weekend afternoon. The entrance I used was hidden in the neighbor hood with just side of grass parking.

Review №99

Great walk/hike, especially for dogs. I saw a few complaints about the trail not being marked well, but it is fairly easy to follow. The only part that may confuse you is having to pass a few streams, but there are rock paths to cross without getting wet. The waterfall is not the end of the trail, but its very close to the end. The temperature felt amazing under the tree cover considering it was in the 90s today.
