We love the Northeastern Nevada Museum! Its not huge, but the exhibits are well curated and it is wonderful for the whole family! If you are a local with kids, definitely spring for a year pass - with my littles short attention span, we explore for an hour (perfect to get out of the heat/cold and into somewhere climate controlled), then come back next week or month and see something we didnt notice last time! The museum gift shop is chock full of artwork and products from local artists and producers.

First class exhibit. The local history side was good, but the animal collection was outstanding! We spent lots of time identifying animals using their well done diagrams. Art lovers will enjoy the paintings and photographs. A real bargain.

A fun museum that had a little something for everyone in the family. My littlest ones enjoyed and marveled at the huge variety of animals from around the world, my wife appreciated the painting and photo exhibits, and the historical relics and paraphernalia were impressive and educational. For a small museum in a small city, there is a lot to see and be interested in.

Great place to go and really see things that are a part of American History the gun collection is Amazing. Museum is well laid out and easy to meander thru at your leisure. Will James art brought me to tears as he was one of my favorite authors and horse artists as a child never thought I would get to see his work in person.

Ill admit it, I went in there with LOW expectations. I was shocked. There is a giraffe in cowboy boots, animals Ive never even heard of (and I was a vet tech for a couple years), amazing gun collections, and beautiful local art and jewelery. After popping in here on a work trip I will make going into rural museums a regular habit. Well done Northeastern Nevada Museum!

Its a shame the museum ruined all of its charm with the Wanamaker Wing. A giant build-on nobody needed, full of some guys hunting trophy collection, that no one in the museum was prepared to care for. Every specimen there has been poorly preserved. Creepy, disturbing, and just plain sad to see. I loved this museum as a child before the Wanamaker exhibit was built and nowadays I couldnt pay any kid I know to let me take them here, which is a shame as the Native American artifacts, antique printing press and a few of the other exhibits are pretty cool.

The North Eastern Nevada Museum is a one of the kind museum. It has plenty of cool interesting things of the history of our town from the Spring Creek Mastadon to the railroads and gold mines; it has something for everyone. Dont forget to also see our infamous Wanamaker exibit with animals for m all over the world!

Very nice informative museum with a lot of informational sections. Since visiting just prior to closing we didnt have an opportunity to go up stairs. Enlightening to learn how early settelers lived and with what tools were used to perform every day functions many take advantage of. Recommend visiting when u have at least 2 hours to enjoy without feeling rushed.

Nice collection of historical items in the Elko area. I enjoyed the two gun collections, and the displays and descriptions of moving the railroad out of the center of Elko. I also enjoyed the artwork on the 2nd floor of the museum. I was appalled by the stuffed animal exhibit. It is my understanding that this exhibit was done on behalf of a wealthy donor whose donation stipulated that the donors animal collection be included as part of the museum. I find it repulsive and disgusting that someone killed all of these wild animals just to have them stuffed and mounted as trophies. I would have given the overall museum a much better rating if not for this exhibit.

We were in town on Easter Sunday and planned on going as the sign on the door said they were open Sundays from 1 to 5. It also stated that the only holidays they were closed for was Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. We waited around until 1:15 and they were not open. I just feel like they could have posted that they were going to be closed for Easter. We missed other opportunities to see this museum because they didnt even have common courtesy to post their holiday closing. I would not recommend this for any business.

Its small but cozy. Well ventilated and good for family. The taxidermied animals are set up in a friendly way as to not scare children unlike some. They recently updated their mine section. And if you go often they have a GREAT yearly family rate that comes with quarterly news letters. Front desk is friendly and they have a fun shop with jewellery, educational but fun books and activities and yummy snacks and small food things. And local artists stuff for sell too!

The museum had its hours posted on the front window , and said it would be closed Mondays, New Years Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We planned to go on Easter Sunday, as it says nothing of it being closed. When we arrived the place was closed with no postings or anything. We missed celebrations in our home town as a result of waiting till 1 for the museum to open. Complete lack of consideration for others. Fix this.

Nice museum. One whole wing dedicated to mining and Nevada life, another wing had numerous stuffed animals.
