Beautiful building, but the seats are tight tight tight. I had my baby arms i felt like i was on top of the people next to me (one being my friend). However because the auditorium is small you can see everyone one stage which is nice

Very cool theatre with great employees. The lighting tech (female) and sound tech (male), cant remember their names, were incredibly helpful we wouldnt have been able to complete our movie shoot without them.

Event venue was ok. Bathrooms were downstairs. Seats were comfortable with room for people to pass. No bad seats for viewing. Parking was in the garage and a bit of a walk.

Hemmens has awesome lighting and a great stage. Especially for dance performances it is brilliant. Ample green room space. Lobby area and campus is beautiful. Really good photo shoots can be done.Lobby area can get crowded if there are are more than 600 people.Overall a great place!!

We have been to the Hemmens a lot of times for various events. Its a really nice venue for seeing the Elgin Symphony, but we were there to see a play that day. These are the old style seats so its a slow rise and shortened pitch but pretty much everywhere has a clean, unobstructed view of the stage.

Very nice, clean, small theater. Easy to locate bathrooms. Parking is free.

No Center aisles which makes entering and exiting a real chore. Hope there is never a fire because if youre in the middle seats, just relax and start to pray. Also, empty your bladders early because there is a shortage of toilets.

Great place of culture

It is a concert hall. A lot goes on here. It would be better to review the events themselves then the space I guess? Plentiful parking, seats are a little small.

The Bravo Broadway concert was spectacular. The singers hit every song out of the park and the Elgin Symphony Orchestra played tremendously. It was a wonderful afternoon

Excellent performances by these improvs at the Hemmens in Elgin. The best actors and actresses I have ever seen. I enjoyed it the whole time! So worth seeing!!!

This is a great theatre to host my kids plays. Very clean and a lot of seats.

The Sounds of the Season event was absolutely wonderful! The Symphony and the Chorale were both fantastic, but the special addition of the solo soprano and the dance troupe made it a truly exceptional experience. I am a bit biased, as my young granddaughter is part of the dance troupe that performed and we drove over three hours in hopes of seeing her. That said, the music and choral performances were fabulous. The sing along at the end was very festive, and everyone in the venue was friendly and inviting. Definitely an event to attend!

Came here to see GreenRoom Productions for their improv. So much fun as always!

One of the few places outside Chicago with a Symphony Orchestra that can compete with the CSO.

The overall facility is very good for larger audience requirements. Major pluses include fairly easy access from the major interstate (about 5 min south on RT 31), multiple FREE parking options close by, and a nice clean park setting with the river flowing nearby. Slight cons are it is somewhat dated, the lobby area can become congested, and all restrooms are on the lower level. Note that when entering the performance seating area the side aisles are extremely inclined. This helps with seat elevation and viewing between rows but I suspect can be troublesome to older individuals.

Very nice theater. The seats were comfy enough for a 2 hour dance recital so that was good.

It is a great place to see the orchestra perform. Not a single bad seat either. The orchestra is fantastic, especially the principal bassist!

AWESOME PLACE THERE IS SUCH A BIG AUDITORIUM AND HUMONGOUS LOBBY. DOWNSTAIRS BACKSTAGE IS A AWESOME FROM THE DRESSING ROOMS TO THE BATHROOMS TO THE TVS TO WATCH UPSTAIRS IT IS SO BIG AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!!! I GIVE THIS A 5 STAR RATING!

We had my Daughters dance recital here. What a wonderful surprise of a venue. The Town needs to start having more shows here and people will come. More comics, more plays more concerts and trust me, they will come. The whole place seems underutilized which is a shame for such a nice cozy venue.

Their performance of Newsies 2019 utterly blew me away! I thoroughly enjoyed going to this theatre and would definitely come again!

My daughters dance recitals are performed here every year. Its always a great experience.

No center isle for emergency evacuations. To difficult to get in and out.

We saw The Mersey Beatles at The Hemmens. It was organized extremely well for the large amount of people in attendance that night. Parking is free and a quick walk to the building. My only issue is with the seating. There are only 2 ways to get seated on the main floor - far left or right. If your seat is near either end youre constantly having people going past you to get to their seats. Aside from that its a perfect small venue. It was a fun night for music with very pleasant staff if you needed any assistance.

Enjoyed the acoustics, the conductor, friendly ushers, and most of all, the music The only drawback: when sitting in the balcony, first row, the view of the orchestra is somewhat obscured by the solid balcony wall. Im sure the wall is that way for safety, but I wish someone, somewhere, would have mentioned it (like maybe in a review?). Otherwise, lovely time, and we will be returning!

We visited for a dance competition and its a good venue for it! Prepare to walk a lot of steps if youre helping your son or daughter with frequent costume changes. Youll get your steps in that day!

Bathrooms are inconveniently located 30 steps downstairs! (Ladies, prepare to wait when you have to go too)Wide open first floor seating with no center aisle has slanted floor with not a lot of verticality. This means no one gets a bad seat but none are that good either Lots of room and very nice bar/ concession service - loads of handicapped and free Parking too

Nice place for a Dance Competition! We were there for the Rainbow National Dance Competition & everything went very well. We got to enjoy the riverfront walkway & scenery just steps away from the Cultural Center on our down time.

Great theater! Love the hidden art gallery.

My friends and I saw Rupazal, we enjoy the play. Made plan to go again. The actors did a great job. The squirrels will be remember.

This is definitely an underutilized gem in Elgin. Its a great location and venue for almost anything. I wish the court would dump more money into it to spruce it up and upgrade the facility. Lets get some bigger bands on things in here.

The place is nice. Ive been there for dance recitals and graduations. Seating is good. If they have bathrooms on the main floor I didnt see them. I had to go to the lower floor.

Needs work. Security is lax. Lousy seating pattern. I hear balcony is drafty. But great any how. Elgin symphony is there and that is great. The two stars are for the venue not concert. That would be 5

ESO is great. Building getting old. In the balcony there is quite a draft from the HVAC. The key here are the performances. Dont plan to be wowed by the setting.

Lots of Plays especially for the holiday season and for heritage representations. Has been here for many, many years. In the heart of town.

We have enjoyed quite a few symphonies here so much so that we became season ticket holders.Great acoustics and comfortable seating with good leg room for the taller travelers.

My Fair lady was preformed by a high school group. Fantastic.

Went to the annual ESO Christmas concert and loved it. We had balcony seats and had a great view of everything on the stage. Performance was outstanding.

Saw the Elgin Symphony. They are outstanding. J am going again for sure.

Comfortable chairs easy to see the stage

Good art theater in downtown Elgin. Theatrical Plays, performing arts, ballet, and dance. Small art exibitons inside. The place is bigger compared with other art theatres around. A lot of light and space. Contemporary Elgin atmosphere, beautiful Fox River Walk near the theatre.

Its a very nice auditorium where the Elgin Symphony Orchestra plays. I would give it 5 stars if the restrooms were bigger and more accessible.

Parking venue was terrible. Next door. handicap on 2nd floor , thats fine but elevators were turned off. So you had to take the steps. Real good. Reporting this to ADA

Elgin Symphony Orchestra is World class. The venue at Hemmens is timeless, clean and well-run. More people should take advantage of Hemmens and ESO.
