I just want to start off by saying that everyone in the work place is very nice, however Manny the artist that did my tattoo wasn’t as nice , I went in for a consultation to explain what I wanted & even showed him a picture of what I wanted done, after I spoke to Manny he walked outside to talk to somebody else making me feel like I wasn’t important enough. All he said before walking away was “it will be around 4 hours , and it will be $150 an hour” & I was definitely fine with that. So I scheduled my appointment and paid my deposit.When I walked in for my appointment the nice lady in the front desk told me to fill out some papers and then it was show time , unfortunately even when I was done with filling out the paper work Manny came to me and showed me something completely different on what I wanted!! I was definitely not satisfied to say the least

I heard a saying that went cheap tattoos arent good, good tattoos arent cheap, but unfortunately, the tattoos at Funky Rooster are neither good nor cheap. My tattoo was very overpriced for the quality I received and ultimately did not give me what I wanted. I was charged $400 for a substandard tattoo. It was overall an immensely stressful and disappointing experience. I would highly recommended you go to another tattoo shop.

10/10 love this shop, the people are always friendly and welcoming, full of creativity and passion. I have been tattooed by Paige a handful of times and love them all! Highly suggest checking them out for your next tattoo adventure

Sarah did an amazing job. I wanted sunflowers on my foot and she created exactly what I wanted. She was very patient and gentle. It turned out amazing. Shop was very clean and all the artists seemed very nice. Will definitely get another one there.

Tried to get a Tattoo there. Tried to give a smaller local shop my Business. The first artist I was working with ended up not working any longer at the shop before my scheduled appointment. The second Artist called in with “possible” Covid exposure an hour before my appointment.i was then giving the option to wait another week or so or just take a refund on my deposit, the shop Personal seem very uninterested in working with me from the beginning, so I decided to take the refund and go elsewhere.” To many bad turns for such a short distance”. It’s a shame too because I was very excited about getting this medium size, very easy tattoo.

This is the first tattoo shop that the front desk associate/owner and tattoo artists are actually nice! Their customer service is the reason why I decided to stick with them. I have been working with Manny and he is a true artist. Not done with my back piece yet but I am already sooooo happy with it.! If your sick of those rude tattoo shops come here. They are so professional! Thanks guys!

Made an appointment with Manny a week out. I told the person who answered that my daughter and I wanted to get something to celebrate her 21st birthday. Let them know we liked the Avengers, Día de los Muertos and the play Hamilton. Also made it clear we were open to any suggestions. Show up today and tell Manny the same thing and he ask if we have anything as reference. Hello... I just gave you four references. He doesnt bother to show us anything hes done before or as an artist give us any ideas. Either this guy is the worst salesman ever or he’s so busy he feels he doesn’t need any new clients. If I could give zero stars I would. This place is garbage!

I want to thank the entire team at funky rooster, especially Manny and Sarah for helping me create a tattoo in memory of my daughter who didnt get a chance at life. I love the tat and will be back for more!

I came to Funky Rooster for my first tattoo. I chose Sarah, since I wanted a dog/cat design to honor all my 4-legged kids. I wanted a “Vintage” style tattoo.Sarah spent time with me and gave me several options. She made me feel relaxed, and was extremely professional. I absolutely “love, love “ my tattoo! It’s exactly what I expected and she even added funky retro colors to make it really vintage.I highly recommend this place and I’m getting ready for my second tattoo This place is very clean, very professional and very reasonably priced.

I got my first tattoo here and I am glad I did! I got so many compliments on how nice and detailed and beautiful it looks, so Im happy overall. Paige did a great job at explaining everything and making sure I was involved in the process. We also had nice conversations and got to know each other, so that made the process less painful and more enjoyable. I would recommend this parlor in a heartbeat and will for sure come again for my next piece.

Got my first tattoo of a watercolor tree on my forearm here from Paige Hudon and I absolutely love it. I scheduled a consultation with her and showed her some ideas as well as explained what I wanted. She has a fun and colorful style - you can definitely trust her with your ideas. Her design was absolutely perfect. She had a great eye for size and placement on my arm. Everyone at the shop made sure I was comfortable and had all my questions answered. The result is more amazing than I couldve imagined! They also gave good aftercare instructions and made sure I knew I could call or stop in with any questions that come up. So glad I got my first tattoo here!!!

Worked with Paige today after being recommended by a friend. She did amazing work. The shop is clean and sterile. Its also got a friendly and fun vibe to it and everyone was upbeat and easy to talk to! Would recommend it to anyone from first tattoo or 20th. Also got to see Jose work on a new client who was getting his first tattoo and he was very patient and understanding.

This is a great place! I called ahead and they scheduled me a time to meet with Amy Porter. At our first meet, we went over what ideas I had and what ideas she had. It was a great collaborative experience. After emailing each other a few times, we got a final tattoo drawn up. I had a more elaborate tattoo (a penguin in a golf cart next to a sign) and it took 3 sessions to finish up. We stopped early one day as it was draining for me (coloring is rough!). Amy was super understanding and encouraged to not push myself. She was also super easy to talk to since we are both big nerds.The shop itself is super clean and open. Everyone that worked there is super nice and friendly. I am already planning that my next tattoo will be at this shop!

Artist TOTALLY messed up on my tattoo, which was also overpriced btw. I should have just gone somewhere else, but it was the only place I could go to at the time.Now I paid too much money for a tattoo that is very visibly messed up.

Love this place! I was very nervous about getting my first tattoo. But the staff here were great in walking me through it and making it a comfortable experience. I hold Funky Rooster and their staff close to my heart. Even though they dont know me personally, I love the place. The atmosphere is so welcoming and not as intimidating as other places out there. Their prices are great and reasonable. I got my first tattoo with Josue, who is super chill and a super talented artist. All of the tattoo artists here are great at what they do and I always tell all my friends and family about it. Ive brought my brother with me and hes gotten a couple of tattoos done here as well. We both love coming here and will continue to until we get our fill, and our friends and family get theirs.

I walked in to get my first tattoo. Paige and the other lady (sorry we didn’t catch her name :( )took care of me right away even though paige had an appointment in the next half hour. I got a small wrist tattoo so it wasn’t going to take a long time and they didn’t want me to wait an hour. They were both very informative and made me feel comfortable. I walked out within 20 mins, very happy so I highly recommend!

Went there on Jan. 4th for my appointment with Manny at 5:30.... First tattoo done in 9 years first in Elgin.. It was the second shop i went into that day looking for a tattoo in memory of my Dad... Sarah was very helpful with trying to get me in asap and talking to Manny that day, made me realize this was the place to get it done... Checked other places around the area n in Lake County. But knew in my mind this is the place for sure. Sarah is amazing and Manny did a great job and heck so good i actually fell asleep... 5 stars isnt enough for this place.... I will always recommend Funky . Sarah is awesome.. Manny is da man.. Even Paige was awesome as well... Thank all 3 of ya for the best experience ever.. I WILL BE BACK!!!!

Not happy with this place. Without going into full detail the guy could not give full detail when asked questions. He also interrupted me while I was talking. I had to call another tattoo place that are very good and well known to get accurate information and did NOT interrupted me. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Best experience Ive had with a tattoo shop. The shop is warm and inviting. They have original artwork (mainly large canvas paintings) hung up all over their walls, of which, all were for sale. I went in for a consultation on a Saturday and they had a sketch drawn up for me in 6 days. It was a colorful, traditional chestpiece drawn up by Sean Kim. They require a $50, non-refundable, deposit for any consultations that lead into an original sketch.The following Saturday, I came in relatively early, (12:30), and started my session with Sean. He was polite and extremely professional. He completed my Tattoo in 4 hours. Really great price for a really great piece.
