Based off address, parking is directly off MD-32. (Upon leaving, check to see its safe before crossing over as there is a blind corner and cars come fast) Try to avoid coming on busy days as the limited spaces fill up fast. Decent views, more of a tranquil wooded setting. A few inclines here and there but nothing too strenuous. There is a fork about .4 miles into the trail which leads to private property, though it is vividly marked. You can get a decent afternoon workout here and its close to Sykesville proper.
A great and relatively easy trail with many nice views of the reservoir. Bring a fishing rod if you like as there are many prime spots along the trail to trow a line.
Great trails in Eldersberg, not a lot of parking so you may have trouble finding a space on the weekend.
So disappointed as this trail had so much potential I had read about the muddy low areas but since it had not rained all that- much prior to my visit on 4/22 I figured it would be OK. It was not, one area resembled the rice fields of Laos. Hiking around it would have been problematic, getting my mountain bike through it was nearly impossible. Next there was a severe blowdown issue, they really need to get a crew with chainsaws out there. There were easily 10-12 trees across the path and most needed me to get off my bike and carry it across. Finally leaving the park to go south at afternoon rush hour meant crossing Route 32 with fast moving traffic coming from both directions, from the left you have traffic coming around a bend so they were bind until right on you, I saw one truck nearly get hit as he crossed, I finally gave up and turned right, then had to turn around.
90% shade so not so hot in the summer
