Always love coming here. This park is a great mix of nature and history. We mostly come here for fishing, which is always great. I’ve caught some of my biggest catfish here. Swimming is also great here. It’s a popular park though, and often fills to capacity on summer weekends. Overall highly recommended!
This was my first time going to North Point State Park and I really enjoyed it. One of the things that interested me in going was that this was where the Bay Shore Amusement Park once was. It was open from 1906 to 1947. Although much of it is gone, there was still plenty to see. Highly recommended!
This was my 1st visit to this park, it’s a great place but.... my visit was cut short due to a facility issue. During my visit I went the main center to use the restroom, unfortunately it was closed with a sign stated that it was closed due to Covid, and to use a portable potty near the terminal. The unit was very dirty and with Covid why would anyone feel safer in that cube than in a bathroom with running water? It made no sense.
It a perfect weekend picnic spot close to the nature and to have great time with friends. They have barbecue grills, need to be prepared to clean them before use and I request to clean them after using as well. Great spot to have a get together. We went in a small group and really had fun time
Love this park. Trails in the woods, beach access, and two fishing piers. What more could you want? It does reach capacity on summer weekends pretty regularly, so get there early, but outside of that youll generally have plenty of space to yourself.
Very cool hiking that is unlike most of the trails in Maryland including a long causeway through Black Marsh. Easy hiking and bird watching. The Park could have built the scenic overlook platform up a few feet higher so people of average height could see out over the marsh without scaling the railing.
This a terrific place to hike given the diversity of the experience. Start out at the point viewing the Bay from the long pier usually crowded with anglers, then enter the woods nearer the entrance. From this area you will walk to wetlands with wading birds and ghost-like dead trees white with age. When were here, we are especially grateful for the Maryland State Park system! Elaine & Erik Rifkin
Only cost $4 to get in, & that was per car not per person. They have grills there already and there close to the water. There were picnic tables to use also. Went swimming and had a blast. I loved it. Went 2 weekends in a row now. Great experience each time
Sept 1, 2020 Park is clean, which is remarkable since the trash cans have been removed. Visitor center is closed. Bathrooms are closed but there are port-a-letts a plenty. Park was pretty empty today. Only employee we saw was the person in the gate house.
This place is phenomenal...beautiful location and has this wonderful quietness about it...perhaps because there are bits and pieces of an abandoned amusement park leftover.
I loved that the park was local, and that it takes less than 30 minutes to get to. It opened promptly at 8:00 AM as advertised. There was ample parking, but Im not sure if this was due to me getting there when it first opened. The beach area seemed decent. My objective was to go hiking, so I cant speak on this too much. During my hike, there were sufficient color-coded markings on the trees to guide you on the trail. There were various paths to take. I started on the white trail, then went on the purple trail after. The first part was fine, but I had to run out of the second trail because the bugs were merciless. They were relentless. No amount of swatting kept these persistent bugs at bay. Thats why it didnt receive all 5 stars. There were a couple positive things that I experienced on my trip. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I witnessed a baptism. And, I watched an avid fisherman reel in a huge catfish on the pier. I recommend the pier because it has a great deal of chairs to sit and look out at the peaceful water. This all happened in 2 hours at the park.
I went fishing. A lot of fish were biting. All the little ones. Had to throw them all back. Really enjoyed myself. Until I had to use the portapot. Absolutely disgusting. All of them.
There is a Bayside area that you can walk, bike, or beach on. It is a well maintained area with ample paved trails if you prefer that over dirt paths. Lots of big open green spaces. Lots of picnic tables with grills close to the Bay.
The park is lovely. We had a wedding photo shoot there and there are a ton of places for very nice photos.
Very nice relaxing place a wedding was being set up for when we were there very nice fishing pier
Its a great park. Lots of trails. Very crowded since Covid, though.
Absolutely beautiful park along the bay! The views along the causeway are serene and the pathways through the park are like walking in a vine-filled fairytale that open up to beautiful picnic tables along the open water.Just one warning-Most of the paths sit pretty low, so expect mud/mini creeks after rain storms or as the snow melts.
I went to the dog beach today with my 2 children and dog . It was wonderful. The staff was very helpful when I called. They also gave us a map and clear directions when we arrived. The picnic area was clean and shady. ( no trash cans you have to clean up after yourselves )There was lots of washed up natural debris from recent storms. ( some trash too). The trails were clearly marked and easy to navigate. We saw beautiful butterflies, frogs, heron and other wildlife. The beach was peaceful and we had the area to ourselves. It was a great place to spend an afternoon. The price tag of 3$/ car was a further incentive.
Lovely park to go swimming, fishing or clamming. They have lots of picnic benches and grills so you can have a nice cook out. They also have a lovely fountain from 1900. Overall a very lovely park.
This park was was very clean and very pretty. Only problem- due to the virus -the public bathrooms were not in use and there were no garbage cans available. People were enjoying swimming and some people were cooking on grills and quite a few people were riding bikes. I was walking my dog. Good park to spend time at.
Great little place to go, has a lot of amenities. Beach, swimming, fishing, family gatherings are great things to do. Restrictions in place but you can make a good time of the trip, just plan out how you are going to enjoy your time there.
Nice trails and dock. Good for bird watching.
Very pleasant park and plenty of space to fish. Loved it. It was a beautiful day!!!!!
This is a great park. Its very large and right on the water. There are lot dog trails and places to relax.
The park was great! Plenty of open space to explore and go hiking and fishing. The swimming area was large however not much sand. The water was rocky at first then leveled out to sand. The water was shallow without a lifeguard.
From the little time I spent there, it is worth going to. There are at least two piers, one wooden and one concrete with a brick path. The latter was more like a peninsula as it was so long. There is a very large pavilion for events, a lot of parking. Places for fishing. The water views are amazing and there is a small beach area. There were no swimmers in the water while I was there so I have no comment on that.I would return under different circumstances with more time to explore.
Great park. Great for bike riding and so much more.
Great place to hike or spend a day at the beach with your family.
Great place for photographers. Take the marsh trail...bring bug spray.
Love the Black Marsh trail!!! I almost hate telling people about it.. amazing birds, snapping turtles, snakes, tons of frogs, beavers, heron, deer, wild edibles, hiking, abonded graffitied buildings, beach shore with amazing water views.. totally flat so bring the kids but wear boots as its always muddy in certain areas. Hidden gem in Baltimore for sure.. oh and pay the entrance fee even if no one is at the booth.. dont be that guy ... its $3 before Memorial day and $4 after.. i have filled my envelope with quarters before so no excusesSupport these parks people!
Nice weekend walk
Lovely park with nice views of the water. Great fishing in season as well, but dont forget youll need a permit for it!
I wish I could give no stars. My family and I were harassed from the point we entered the gates. We moved another bench closer to our grill like other families did. We were asked to move them a few feet over and if we have to put our food on the ground. Then the ranger came back and told us that our phone was to loud. Other people had speakers and all. They asked could they search our coolers. Our family members were turned away at the gate and told they were at capacity. 2 mins later people began entering through the gate. We were basically forced to leave between the rangers security guard and other employees circling around us . They watched us to our cars and waited for us to leave out the gates and waved goodbye with a smile.
Havent been here for years and finally went for a walk... I was a little disappointed that the Visitors Center was closed. Also, there are not any trash cans around the park. Other than that, it is still a great place to spend time outdoors.
Great park with beautiful scenery and a nice lil beach. Had my wedding by the water there. Its a hidden Gem.
A great secret place it seems. Once you get there youll see its a good place to have a cookout with the grilles they have there along the waterfront. Fantastic biking and hiking trails, all flat terrain. Welcome Center has info with Park Rangers on duty. Clean restrooms too!
I like Gunpowder more but for $3 and just wanting to be outside it was fine. Had a small sandy beach, picnic tables, nice place to fish, and walking trails.
I love taking my dogs for a walk here. We can take leisurely stroll near the water or get into the woods for a light hike.
I love north point state park it nice in clean the ppl are great my family love this beach a hidden gem.
Wonderful!!! Peaceful, never crowded. Views of the waters are lovely.
Nice park. Well marked trails. Good parking and bathrooms
There is a lot of trails throughout this park. Beach that rounds in to Black Marsh. Lots of good fishing here. Picnic tables and a pavilion. There is a museum and office there too. Can buy t-shirts and other goodies. Its where the Red Cable car started but closed decades ago.
Beautiful spot on the Chesapeake...you can see the bay bridge and hart miller island from the small swimming beach and picnic area.
Needs some much needed maintenance
North point is a bird watchers dream. There were so many to see, as well as beavers and snakes (watch where you step!). It was very easy going, its very flat. You can also fish if you have a license. My only complaints are the terrible maps. They arent detailed or helpful. The trails are clearly marked though, but none indicate how long each trail is at the start. Blazes are clearly marked.
Close to home has different parts to see
Nice place to fish. Saw some decent sized catfish.
Beautiful solemn park in the winter. Must pay park fee to get in. There is a jerry you can walk and fish on. Plenty of park benches and picnic tables to sit on.
Beautiful place. I recommend it, to spend with the family
Great place to explore. Winter is best as no bugs
Always a pleasent experience!
Nice, well kept park with bay access
Interesting beach and trails to spend a few hours. Beach was easy to get to but no lifeguards and water was shallow but murky. Nice jetty for walking out far or fishing. Several Porta-potties but no restrooms. Lots of DNR police patrolling the beach. Space for large families who were grilling and picnicking.
Tons of space, right on the bay... this is one of my favorite places to be!
Very beautiful park..
Peaceful, nice people, great place to walk the different paths.
Beautiful place. Help keep it clean for everyone to enjoy.
Nice views, near the water, picnic areas.
Nice park, plenty of shade, picnic tables and bbq grills, there is a beach for swimming
Quaint little beach and quiet biking trails
This place is very nice .
Very nice laid back pack where you can fish!!
Most Beautiful park in Baltimore County!
A nice place to take your family to cool down
This park is awesome. Its got so much! Theres a beach, a 1,000 foot pier, boat slips, peaceful, well maintained walking trails, wildlife, plant life, plenty of picnic tables and grills, and even a museum that contains the entire history of the park and the area, all the way back before the revolutionary war.Definitely will come back. I love that I live near here!
Fishing is great clean park restrooms available swimming area
I wish they opened earlier! Also the horse flies are pretty bad, other wise its a lovely nature getaway.
A treasure tucked away in SE Baltimore county.
Swimming, fishing, gentle hiking. Fresh water marshes and the Chesapeake Bay
Great place to hang out.
Beautiful walk in the forest and around the wetlands. We were greeted by a very friendly small, and shaky fawn, observed white tailed deer, a fox and lots of bird life and butterflies.
Ive been going here since the early 90s, back when I was a little kid. One of my favorite places to go to to unwind. Quiet, easy trails, nice land pier. And wild animal. If youre lucky youll spot the bald eagle family that lives there.
Love it, husband and I got married at the gazebo!!! We go there all the time for walks and water fun
Quiet on an October Friday. Lovely pier, people fishing. Ample parking.
Beautiful hidden gem.
Great trails...awesome beach and fishing jetty!!
Lovely park with a beach. There is some wonderful history about this park.
Love the beach kinda small but great to have a picnic
It was a wonderful place, I had a great time
Pristine water (nil bacteria counts) swimming, fishing, picnic tables w/ grills (go early).
It was a wonderful place, I had a great time
Great place to walk and get some fresh air.
We stopped in just before they closed to see the bay and relax for a few minutes before continuing our trip. clean park, lots of hiking trails, awesome water views of the Bay! We will stop back next time we are in the area for a longer visit.
Great park.
Awesome place to spend time with family. Great view and a perfect picnic spot.
Family oriented park owned by Baltimore county parks and recreation, really nice quiet place to go hang out with friends or take a nature walk, there is a small fee to enter the park however there are state of the art bathrooms on site and a concrete pier that goes roughly 70ft from the bulkhead, and vending machines for a quick snack or drink.
Awesome place! This is the 2nd season that myself & family have been going. Clean for the most part. Occasionally find trash on the sand, grass, or in the water. Otherwise, well kept. The water is usually warm! The rocks & seaweed at the shoreline are obnoxious & the rocks will hurt your feet. Started going the end of May this season & the water has been so warm. I can go far out into the water & STILL be only up to my waist. I am 53. My niece, nephews & grandson absolutely love it there. Park rangers are always around & will get you out of the water if the weather looks ominous.
I love all the trails. The bathrooms are kept clean. The original station still stands and the original water fountain from the Amusement park is still there as well. The little beach area sadly had dead fish and crabs around so didnt stay there too long. But other than that it is very BEAUTIFULLY kept
I love fishing here! You can catch huge catfish!!!
