Very beautiful, easy trails to walk on for beginners and more difficult trials for more experienced hikers. Very nice views, good location to observe birds and the changing colors of leafs.

I walked barefoot in the mud. The ground is always damp and cool here. You can still hear traffic from the road but it quiets as you get deeper in. It is a sanctuary. If you don’t like bugs, you probably want to go somewhere else. It is a swamp after all. Then again, its not really a place for humans, but a refuge for other beings who don’t have much habitat left. A lovely part of New Jersey wilderland.

The manager was so friendly and helpful. He offered advise on what trails would be best for my toddler. The bird blind was beautiful and well cared for. I loved that there were posters inside to help us identify the different birds we saw. The nature center had a lot of taxidermied animals and bird nests on display. There was also a neat little sand box with stamps of different animal paws to make tracks. Ill definitely be visiting again.

Mariton is perched on the steep slopes of Bougher Hill overlooking the scenic Delaware River. This preserve has over six miles of trails that are very well marked. Two highlight of the preserve’s trail system is the River Lookout Trail and the Squeeze Trail. The River Lookout Trail provides an overlook of both the Delaware Canal and the Delaware River 300 feet below, do be aware that the is a huge drop off the ledge. The Squeeze Trail provides a great view out to the hills on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River. This is a great place to bird watch as you may see Wood Thrush, Ovenbird, Black-and-White Warbler, and Red-eyed Vireo. The preserve is has a test area to see what damage deer are doing to the preserve.Other animals include living in the preserver include red fox, eastern chipmunk, northern redback salamander, meadow vole, and milk snake.of this preserve is woodlands dominated by oak, tulip poplar, birch, rhododendron, and tuliptree. The small meadows with native grasses and wildflowers like milkweed and goldenrodMariton’s Wildlife Sanctuary has a Nature Center that includes a library, meeting space, and ADA restrooms,.

A hidden gem. The well maintained trails offer a mix of terrains from easy to moderate difficulty. This is a good place to see woodland birds. There is plenty of parking, clean restrooms and a small visitors center. On the slopes facing the Delaware River there are large stands of rhododendron.

I made the mistake to come here while snow was starting to melt on this beautiful day we had. However I would not change a thing, my Best Friend & I had a wonderful time & made new memories. We definitely plan to revisit once the spring is here. :)

Several great trails to choose from at Mariton. There are not too many miles of trails, but you will find that they are meticulously maintained and take you through several different types of habitats.

Really enjoyed walking around the sanctuary. You get to hear a lot of different kinds of birds chirping and calling. Well marked trails and signs. It seems as though most of the trails I took with friends were not too demanding (Main Trail, River Lookout, Kit, Spruce, South Fox). Would go back to do some more hiking.

Absolutely beautiful preserve, with a large network of trails and at least 3 Delaware River overlooks. If seeking the overlooks, I recommend winter hikes, seeing as the leaf coverage might obscure views (although I do love a lush forest walk too).

For a small natural area, this place is very nicely done. The trail map makes the many intersecting trails easy to follow. That said, they chose to use a non-standard blazing system that seems rather labor-intensive both to install and to maintain (posts in the ground with painted tops). No real views that I could find, but a pretty place. The Nature Center has great displays and loads of information.

This is a great place to go if you want a moderate-skill hiking experience and you have a camera with you. Theres a bird blind on one of the trails and 2 overlooks, though there isnt much of a view from either one. There are also fields with bird houses and bat boxes.

Fairly difficult hiking trails...Lots of up and downs. Challenging, but worth the workout. In Oct, we did not see much in the way of wildlife; few birds and one red-tailed Hawk that was very close to us. Very disappointed in the Lookouts; trees were overgrown and cutting off any views. Very nice visitor center, with lots of mounted specimens to view.
