This shop is a GREAT find for me. Family owned and operated, Animal Kingdom has better pricing and choices in fish small, animals and pet supplies than the chains. Customer service seems to be a lost art but not at Animal Kingdom. If you are looking for value and great service, this is your store.

I called the pet store before coming there to see if there were any rabbits available. The man told me they had one left and it was a boy mini lop. Not that I cared what breed or gender but I went to look.Upon arriving I saw the bunny in a very small cage in a hot humid room with a ton of reptiles. The bunny was definitely not a mini lop and upon further investigation we are thinking they are a Netherland dwarf mixed with English spot.We were told that the bunny was a year old, but this bunny was teeny tiny and when I questioned why it was so small the man said “well maybe he’s ten months.” I asked again if he was truly a boy and he picked up the bunny and looked really fast saying “yep it’s a boy.”We ended up feeling so bad that this bunny was trapped in a hot room in a small cage with no hay or toys and surrounded by reptiles that we took them. We couldn’t leave that poor bunny there. The guy insisted he loved it there and would go to the other animals cages. But regardless anything can happen when you’re mixing that many animals together in one hot room. We had to save this bunny.the bunny eats a LOT and whenever we give them food they seem starving like they’d never eaten fresh veggies and fruits before.When we got home immediately we made a vet appointment because not only did we wanna check the age and gender but the poor bunny was sneezing like crazy every five minutes. However this ceased once they settled. We ended up having the vet examine her.The vet informed us that the bunny was in fact a girl and no older than 3-4 months old. A lot different than a year and thank god we hadn’t planned to spay her soon or else she would have been too young. The vet also informed us that she looked malnourished which explains why her appetite is so large.I know a lot with rabbits is guess work when theyre young, and the employees were very nice. I understand not knowing because theyre young, but saying theyre a year old when she was just a 3 month old baby is just uneducated. I’m just asking that they try to be a bit more educated when it comes to these matters as age is important not only for surgeries but for diet and routine as well.It also would be nice to see the bunnies in bigger cages with hay and toys and a temperature comfortable to them.Overall I wouldn’t buy a bunny from a pet store again and probably would only adopt from rescues as breeders are very sketchy with the information they are providing your employees, saying a rabbit was 6 months older than it actually was when it was extremely tiny. There is a lot of misinformation in pet stores about rabbits and how they should be cared for and what to expect.Thank you for your kind attitude. Please be better educated in the future for the sake of healthy rabbits!

Not happy with this establishment at all. Visited here a couple of days ago because they were local. I informed the young man that was partially assisting me that I had 2 to 3 week old kittens and I needed some products. Ok cool purchased some items.Today I went to Pet Valu. Love love love this store. Very informative without me asking a question when I did ask a question the customer rep was extremely helpful and never left my side. I had to purchase litter all over again because clay litter is not good for kittens. Animal kingdom didnt tell me that. What I did have to rebuy at pet valu was $2 to $3 cheaper than at animal kingdom.Sometimes convenience isnt always convenient.I gave them 1 Star because at least they were open during this challenging time.

Awesome staff! I had an emergency with my tank and called. A staff who was very knowledgeable on tanks assisted with my issue. I had 45 mins to get to this store or they would close 5 mins to closing and they held that door open how he knew it was idk, I got what I needed. I will check out their inventory on fish sometime in July.

My family and I patronized Animal Kingdom East on May 7, 2020. We did so excited to support a local business and to add a ball python as our family’s first pet. We returned as prompted to purchase food and other essentials for care on May 9th. When the snake appeared unwell, we called for support on May 18th, and we were told to bring the snake to the store. However, the snake passed before we could do so. We went to the store with the deceased snake looking for information about what could have caused the death or our newly purchased pet. Instead of being met with care and concern we were met with a rant about policy and reading a receipt. In times like these, I think more than ever businesses need to prioritize customer service and exhibit compassion and empathy when dealing with families who are suffering a loss. All we wanted was insight and guidance, not rudeness and reprimands.

I purchased 90 dollars worth of fish 2days ago... Only 1 fish is alive.. I called to see if there can be something done about it but I was told there are no guarantees on fish.. I feel as though I gave away 90 dollars for nothing.. I will never purchase from there again

Woman I was speaking to had a bad attitude problem I was asking her things you’d normally ask a person that works with animals, but instead of saying “I’m not sure” you’ll rise you voice...But of course she’ll do that on the phone instead of face to face. lady’s attitude is extremely bad, get a different job!

Im very happy with how they groomed my pomeranian. The lady (I wish I knew her name!) knew exactly what the Boo cut was and executed it well. My dog came out of there in really good spirits so I feel like they treated him well there (he didnt look traumatized or anything which is what always scares me).I will definitely be bringing him back and I appreciate a job well done :)

Animal kingdom is great I took my puppy there for a wash and shave, they did a good job. Their products are pretty high but I see the animals are somewhat well-kept I wouldnt buy any fish from them anymore because once you get them home they seem to the last 2 weeks no matter what I do water temperature feeding yes dont last long there for the price they want you to spend for them. Other than that its a cool place.

Finally my dogs tail has grown back in after 7 months when these dummies cut her tail after I gave explicit instructions to not trim or cut her tail. After I complained the owner had the audacity to tell me not to return because I complained! They snipped the tip so close that I took her to the vet to make sure it wasnt injured. The groomers are idiots and the owner is not customer friendly whatsoever! Every grooming session they messed up. But I kept returning to support local businesses and location was convenient. The white owner makes it seem like hes doing us black folks a favor. I guess hes been in e.o. so long he can act that way! And they are overpriced! $58.73 for my 6 pound chihuahua mix to get 1.5 inches of hair cut! Petsmart is cheaper and they provide excellent customer service. And if the cut is wrong they are all too willing to fix it without complaint. Why? Because they value their customers and want u to be satisfied and happy and come back! I wouldnt even buy a bag of dog food from animal kingdom!

First pet shop I ever went to as a child and had great experiences ever since as well as made friends with this family owned establishment. Ill continue to recommend and visit even if I dont have any more pets

Wonderful place! The employees answer every question you have and seem to have so much knowledge with the animals. Also they have great prices you cant beat! Animal Kingdom is a nice shop and family owned. Everyone is always pleasant and helpful. They go out of their way to help you and make recommendations. Its kept clean. It offers dog grooming. It sells interesting fish, birds and other small animals and all the accessories the animals need. The prices are reasonable. I spent $61 and bought a whole lot of toys, treats and food for my parakeets. I was very satisfied. I recommend the store.

Today I took my dog for grooming and the store owner was nice enough to call even past the time allowed for drop off. I explained my delay was due to car trouble and he didn’t mind and was kind enough to still honor our appointment. I believe the groomers name was Ashely (I’m forgetful due to pregnancy) or Alicia she provided a great customer service experience by calling to ask my preference as to the hair cut. She did a great job and it showed that she gives attention to detail. She was very sweet, thanked me for gratuity which spoke volumes. I’m glad I’ve located a local groomer that I’m happy to support and provides convenience.

I usually take my dogs to PetSmart for grooming because its so heavily advertised. I read some articles about pets dying while in their care and decided to try somewhere else. I already purchase dog food from Animal Kingdom so I decided to try out the groomer.Amazing!!The gentleman that answered the phone was so helpful, asked me what time I could be there and fit me right in. When I got there, the young lady with the afro puffs was SOOOOOO SWEET!! They called to let me know Arya was ready and when I got her, she had on a pink bandanna and she smelled awesome. My boyfriend told me to send a pic as soon as I got her because he was leery. Even he was pleased with the work done. Her nails are so rounded and she smells so good. Well definitely be back.

I bought a little puppy and wasnt aware of pet needs. They not only have multiple options for food and various other pet needs but they also provide excellent advice. They also offered dog/cat shower, blow dry and grooming services. It was my first time so they didnt charge me anything for puppy shower. I recommend this to all.

And dont worry about having to rent a van to purchase a large fish tank because which large purchases like that local delivery is free

I have been going to this place forever, ever since they were on North Harrison. I wish I could go back to have my dog groomed since her regular groomer is MIA but I took her there once, and though they did an excellent job, $70 is way too much for a 10 lb dog. And she wasnt matted. I take care of her.I guess I thought you were the same pet store that was indeed on North Harrison near the corner of Main Street. I never had a problem with them or with this location. I have been using this store since the 80s. The grooming was beautifully done on my dog, I just found the $70 price to be a bit much. But both (apparently different) pet stores are excellent.

I loved the place, when I first walked in the smell was not so pleasant but it’s normal for a pet store and I am known for having a funny sense of smell . Anyway the gentleman that helped me was excellent. He was polite and knowledgeable he answered all my questions. Very very helpful. I would go back and refer my friends.

NOT AO SURE ANYMOREI’ve been taking my dog here for grooming the off and on the last 3 yrs. i try to groom my dog myself.Since the last 3 months of coming here ny dog is skittish and cries every time I try to put his harness on. Like I said nobody else because my dog besides me or them the last time I picked him up he was not only a little shaky the bow they put around his neck was tired really tight and he couldn’t swallow I won’t be going back.once in the past I had complained that when I picked my dog up I always had to give him medication for his back pain I don’t know what they do there but I won’t be coming back watch the reaction of your dog if your dog is scared to go don’t leave them with them anymore

The place is ok. I have gone here for many years. The only complaints if mine are Fish prices an tank cleanliness. For the price the fish have to be in Top condition. Apart from that they have good staff and are ready to help. 3/5

Took my calico cat to get groomed (Shave all the hair & tail but leave hair on tip, like a whip) prices went up and it wasnt a $80.00 professional cut by no means. Ive had to shave her paws,tail and neck.I have continued to take her here as it is the only pet grooming convenient to me and the owners are good people.However, they have different Groomers = 7 / 11 so you never know what your gonna get

I shop at the East Orange store and I always have a pleasant visit. The Workers are very helpful and friendly. When i go there I get what i need and sometimes more. Only thing i can recommend is for them to make their Belly Points more CAT friendly.
