Always a lovely experience. The falls are a great spot to relax and even swim in the summer months. If you want to get out and enjoy nature this is a fantastic place to do so. Multiple trails with different difficulties, beautiful scenery, and just an over all peaceful location. Definitely worth checking out. Best part? Its free.

This was a wonderful hiking spot! Very relaxing views with the overlook on the orange trail and the waterfall at the beginning. There was some steep/slippery climbs but overall it was great! Highly recommend coming here to camp, swim, or to walk the dogs. If dog walking, stay on the easier paths!

Popular Trail along the beautiful Waterfall. The terrain Is much simpler for hike. The Orange vista trail with White blaze completes around 2-2.5 miles hike which has couple of scenic view along the route. It were kinda crowded over the weekend. No social Distancing at all during this difficult times.

After my disappointment in not finding the big falls at Wadsworth Falls in Middletown, I decided to try Devils Hopyard. There were two parking places. One was for overflow parking, but I tried the first parking place. From that parking lot we walked across the street and the Chapman Falls were right there. Just had to walk a short path. It wasa little steep getting down to spot to see the falls will, but not difficult at all. The falls are amazing!!

The falls were alot closer than I expected but still beautiful. I recommend taking the hikes out there is more to see than just the falls and bridge. Had alot of fun can not wait to return and check out some more trails.

I did this trail a few times in 2019 and it was a great trail just poorly marked. I just recently did it again October 2020 and they habe made dramatic improvements. The trails are now marked more clearly with HiViz markers. The trails are well travelled but you will still want a sturdy shoe to go over some of the minor technical areas. The two best points of this location are the waterfall abd the beautiful new covered bridge that has just been built at the entrance. Definitely worth the trip.

This park was really nice just becareful if your not a good swimmer and decide to get into the river. The stream is tough and will drag you, also there are deep areas that are hidden due to the water color and rocks. Over all my family and I had a great time.

I love this place. I dedicate my life to exploring waterfalls and for some reason this place really resonates with me. I come back here every other month or so and always leave feeling at peace. Once youre in the pine forest clearing I highly suggest taking a right and hiking along the river off the trail. Vista is beautiful, I hike it every new years. The waterfall obliterates all negative feelings or stress you might be carrying on your shoulders :)

This park is one of Connecticuts hidden treasures. Its not but about a thousand acers in size but has a lot to offer. I say it is a must see if you are visiting the area and if you live there it is your backyard. Its not crowded and a short walk across the old style bridge over a small stream and the waterfall is there, beautiful. Im from Arkansas and was here 15 years ago but it is burned into my memory like I was there yesterday.

Ni
Review №81

This was my first time camping but I was impressed with this park. There is access to a waterfall and a stream. There is a outhouse which was decent but couldve been a little more sanitary but hey, its camping right? The first night we left a bag with some food near the firepit and in the morning we realized that an animal got into it. We now realize how silly that was. My girl friends and i camped from friday evening to sunday morning. Saturday there was more traffic which we didnt mind as we had reserved two spot so we didnt feel infringed upon. I wouldve love if there was a shower and cell phone service but that was not the reason for the 4 star. There was ongoing construction on the bridge which made access to falls/stream a tad bit difficult. The falls was my absolute favorite part of my trip but we only went there once bc of how lengthy the detour was.

This was great ! There were eight of us on the hike, kids ages 7, 9 and 10. Parked in the main state park entrance, started at the covered bridge, hiked up to the falls, took the red trail around out and back to the yellow loop up and down, red trail back to the parking lot below the falls. Great loop with lots of varied terrain, kids had a blast, took about two and a half hours or so. Needed boots for the mud, ice and water. The falls are really big ! Super cool will definitely be back !

Very pretty place to visit. After crossing the wooden footbridge, you can go left and find some lesser / hidden waterfalls. You may have to do some off-trail walking to get a clear view (as in - in the water). There is a great view of the main waterfall almost directly from the parking lot.Further back (straight off of the wooden footbridge) headed to the devil’s oven, the trail can get a little camouflaged so just keep the river on your right and press on. It’s worth it.
