Cute chill vibey spot for breakfast. Got Eggs Benedict on mushroom (recommend adding greens), lavender blueberry pancakes and a CBD latte n they were all great :) there was also live music playing on a Sunday and plenty of casual outdoor seating and grassy chairs/picnic tables. Order at the window and sit where u want.

This is a small place with a varying menu. Every single time I have visited is good. Breakfast is delicious and have had 2 lunches very good sandwiches. Coffee is great, lemonade is homemade very tasty. On the weekends which is when I normally visit, is crowded with live music. It hasnt dissapointed yet. Been visiting for about 2 years or more now.

Nice local place with a nice seating area in the back and tasty foods but the menu is not clear. Their iced drinks use granulated sugar so they arent evenly sweetened.

Supporting local businesses is important. This coffee shop is right next to the East Haddam US Post Office. Drive thru window is also a walk up window. Lovely, friendly ladies own and operate this little jewel box. Everything is freshly made right on the spot. Outstanding breakfast burritos! They have a special omelette that works well as a wrap, if you ask. Only reason 4 stars and not 5, on two occasions I picked up a muffin and a chocolate chip cookie. Both items were a little disappointing. Dry and bland. Maybe it was a bad day for baked goods...outdoor seating is set up as if you were hanging out at your own backyard!

Of all of my years of writing reviews of places I’ve eaten throughout this country, very few can measure up to the heart, charm, and kindness that you were served along with your delicious food at this establishment. I was in town on a two week temporary contract when I stopped in with some of my colleagues for an open mic night. I ordered the veggie burger with a fresh caesar salad. The bread was aromatic, flavorful, and gave just the right crunch that I was looking for with the veggie burger. The veggie burger tasted like it was made to order, and I could distinctly tell which vegetables were in it The Caesar salad was very fresh, and the dressing tasted homemade. The people who were in the kitchen were very down to earth, kind, and seemed very relaxed at their job. They made my food order and brought it out promptly. The food was piping hot and incredibly fresh. I cannot overstate how thoroughly impressed I was with my experience, and that if you happen to be in East Haddam, or anywhere in the northeast, this place is one you must visit. This eatery preserves a long-lost sense of warmth, community, and heart that stay with you long after you finish your meal.

Passing thru the area, stopped in on our way home from a camping trip. the food was excellent, service was great, there was gorgeous live music (on a saturday morning!) and it was full of local art for sale. cannot wait for the opportunity to return.

My wife and I were in East Haddam for our anniversary last month. We went to this place for coffee in the morning and returned again for dinner. The place gives you a serene country feeling. If you are lucky you can also enjoy the live music they have on some evenings.

The coffee is the best around. The people who work there know what they are doing and are terrific. So far my friends and I have only had coffee there but this review will be enhanced after I eventually eat there. Its tight quarters but there is also some outdoor seating.

Had breakfast there on Saturday... sat at a table by the back door. We were able to take it all in. I can’t begin to rave about the food that was outstanding. The atmosphere was perfect! The little sugar bowl, the book on the counter, the herbs out the front door - it was amazing! This is a true hidden gem! Thank you from Robin & Annie!!!

Love this place. Went on a whim while driving by. Creative menu, friendly staff, and a guitarist playing good music. It is a smaller place and maybe a little slow but the wait was enjoyable and the food was excellent! Our server I believe owned the place and was incredibly warm and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Went there two days in a row. The business had a nice home feel to it and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The only issue I had was, getting seated. The first day wasnt an issue. Second day (Sunday) was busier and we were waiting for a table to open. A women entered 5 min after us who was local and frequented the business often as she knew the owner or worker of the business. A table cleared which I was waiting for to grab, but the women just cleared it herself and sat down with one of the band players. We still ordered to go, but that is one thing that they should monitor a little better. We may not frequent that often but are paying customers, waiting patiently for a spot. Would visit again and adjust my review from there. Not a bad spot but just an inconvenience we had on one occasion from the two times we visited.

Excellent coffee - locally roasted, freshly ground, Americano coffee that was delicious. Bialy sandwich was yummy as was salad with avocado and asiago cheese. Will go back.

Service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and have great suggestions on what to eat. If youre not in a rush its an awesome place to stop. The only downside is that parking is limited.

This place is intimate and cozy. I got locked out of my car and spent a couple hours here. The ladies behind the counter were welcoming and offered nice conversation while I waited for roadside assistance. The coffee is excellent as well as the breakfast burrito.

Terrible experience. No menus. Items are not priced on the chalkboard at the counter. Sat in tables on deck in back with sun beating down on us all morning as we waited over 90 minutes for our breakfast. Felt unwelcome since we were not regulars. Will never stop here again and would not recommend this place. Suggest owner focus a bit more on serving food, since this is a restaurant and stuff.

Cutest, friendliest place ever. We took a cruise in the area and than stopped by to have lunch. Food was so fresh, great lemonade. The place its self is so cute and cozy, but the best of it was the people behind the counter, unfortunately I cant recall the name I think Rachel, was so nice. We had the tuna wrap so fresh and yummy.

Called about 10 min before arriving to be sure they were open, since it was a holiday. We arrived and were ignored until deciding to go and find a table on the deck. 15-20min before a girl comes out to tell us they RAN OUT OF FOOD... while chuckling. Are you kidding? I said I had called 10min before getting there and she admitted to being the person who took the call but ran out right after. How do you run out of food 4hrs before closing, let alone ignore people and not say anything?? Ill never go back there.

I came here for breakfast with my kids. It was delicious!!! My son and I had a breakfast wrap. It was very tasty. We loved it! My daughter had a breakfast sandwich which she also liked. My other son a pancake, which was good. Served with real maple syrup! I dont drink coffee, just tea. My daughter said the coffee was very good. Its a quaint little place in a small town. Im very lucky to have this gem close by. The decor is nice. Kinda rustic. Id like to try lunch one day. The woman who owns it now is the new owner. I went a few years back when it was owned by a gentleman. At that time I was not impressed at all. Im glad its got a new owner . Ill be back for sure!

Good food and right in town.

Higher Grounds is about a 10 minute walk uphill from Goodspeed Airport, close enough to be on my great places to fly for a terrific meal.The menu is varied, and some items are inspired. The soups and cookies alone are worth the trip. The rest is just plain really good.I put Higher Grounds at the same top of the list of places to fly for food in New England as Nancys at Minuteman Airport. Higher Grounds is not directly on the field as is Nancys, and Goodspeed is a bit tricky compared to Minuteman but if you can do it, you will be well rewarded. You could of course just drive to either place.By the way Higher Grounds is open longer hours and more days than Nancys which can sometimes be a deciding factor as to which place to visit. Either one is a great choice for a great meal.

Pleasant little place. Not much seating. Everything is fresh and locally grown.

Was hoping for a nice breakfast. Instead we got no parking, waited 10 min for a coffee in a room that was about 85 degrees and smokey. There were about 5 tables, 1 waitress and 1 cook that cooked on a plug in griddle...for everyone. After 20 min of being ignored we left. I wont ne back.

Quant little spot in a nice location. There is seating at the bar, a few tables, and some seating outside. The food is made to order and when its busy there is a wait, nothing crazy 20 minutes sometimes. The coffee is Americano and comes out smooth. They try to source all food from local farms. I have only had the breakfast sandwiches and coffee until now. The bsandwiches come a few different rolls or bread. The types vary depending on whats local. It can get pretty busy on the weekends, but this is one on my favorite places to meet my wife for a lunch date during the week.
