1st and last time I play/stay here! I would expect this place to be spotless during the pandemic yet its dirty, hand sanitizers are empty, played for 6 hours and seen no one cleaning the machines. Beds are stained and full of hairs, furniture is ripped and dirty. Shower is moldy. Employees give you attitude when asked simple questions, slots are tight af! 6k n no returns!
I would leave zero stars if possible. I am 31 and look very young for my age. I was harrased by security telling me I couldnt sit next to my brother where we were playing a slot machine together because the chair was from the machine next to me. I was told that people wanted the chair for a machine even though the whole room was near empty and the machines near me were unattended and have been for hours. I was also bothered saying people were asking how I got into a casino. Luckily the cleaner who told me about was decent. Also when I asked the manager what Im supposed to do he told me a paying customer to stand. I will never ever be back to this place ever again. I was mistreated based on how I looked young and no one should ever ever have to deal with that. Do not visit this place because not everyone is treated equally.

It was a last minute booking and they accommodated us perfectly ! There was only a double room available in the non-smoking part which was nice. The room was clean and big with the usual amenities. My biggest problem was that even thought it was supposedly non-smoking, it smelled like a cold ash tray... but still nice hotel !
You know, I was pleasantly surprised by this casino. I wasnt here long, but the employees seemed friendly, they had a good mix of old and new slots, and I actually won a good bit the little time I was there. Ill definitely be back.

Arrived at 3:15, went to check in, Front desk clerk told us we had to wait until 4pm. At 3:45 a bus full of people arrive so now we are with roughly 20-30 others and only one desk clerk. Finally get checked in at 5pm. So much for common sense practices with COVID. I feel she could have at least checked to see if our room was ready or not. Needless to say I wont be staying here for my next business trip.

I previously gave them 5 star. It was one of my favorite casinos but my last few visits have been unpleasant. The dealers are rude. Table minimums are high. No drinking or smoking at the table!! Save yourself the grief go to the Horsesqhoe or Majestic!
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The workers were rude and unprofessional. They treated me and my family& friends very bad from the very beginning when we walked in. The man that was checking IDs didn’t know how to do his job correctly. He told me my ID was expired when it wasn’t. Then he tried to tell me to leave because he thought it might been fake because he said I didn’t look like my ID Picture. I had to tell him to check it because he didn’t run it or anything. Then the man that was checking temperature had an attitude when we tried to ask him a question. all he did was mean mug us and told us to go. I understand we had to keep social distance but the workers that was working the down stairs floor and tables had a problem with everything we was doing. My brother was trying to talk to me and one them bluntly interrupted us and told us we can not be talking close to each other. We weren’t even that close. yet the worker was in my face. I couldn’t even sit down with out one of the workers bothering me. Constantly asking me to get up, you can’t sit down, are you playing, and etc..I felt very uncomfortable to the point where I couldn’t do anything talk, laugh, or move. I don’t know what’s going on but I do not need angry and rude employees taking they’re anger and frustrations out on me. Especially if I’m going to be spending money there. I didn’t even felt welcome.
There was 2 wonderful lades that was very friendly, helpful,kind and overall was a pleasure there names are Shanica and Danica. Thank you ladies for making me and my family stay great. We will be back to visit soon. We stay with you because our lights was out when I told the ladies they went above and beyond to make us feel at peace and comfortable. Thank you
They practice social distancing and perform temperature checks before allowing you to enter the casino. Masks are not optional, wear a mask or you cant play. Great rules for all. I did win sone money.
It was a fun place to visit. I had not been here in over 20 years. It was my coworkers birthday and we went as an outing.
Overall its a good place. However customer service can be better. Hotel needs renovations.

Rooms were clean but they could use new matters covers under the sheets and some updating threw out the casino.Would be nice to have a charging station for Electric cars. We had the Nachos and Pizza downstairs in the restaurants it was amazing and great portions for the prices, super friendly staff threw out the entire facility. We would come back again. I’m from Colorado I came home for my birthday. To have a good time with family, last night we decided to go to the casino to have a bit of fun. We came in laughing and talking having a good time nothing unreasonable for a group of 5 people. From the minute we walked in, employees seemed like they just didn’t want us there. The guy checking temperature looked me in my eye as I asked a question. He Did not answer. I just let it go. I get to THE VERY NEXT EMPLOYEE, the guy who’s checking ids let us through then tried to tell my sister her id was expired. When it was clearly not, which is why they still let us on. Any time I asked an employee a question I was treated as if I was a burden. This casino is new to me so I’m sorry if I didn’t know enough. People at the table were extra unfriendly. I get that you probably are tired of enforcing Covid 19 rules, But to yell at me when I don’t know the rules is not called for. The lady rudely told me I needed to leave the table while I was standing next to my sister trying to help her. I have no problem following the rules. Had she been polite I would have left the table without a problem and I probably wouldn’t have wrote my review but she was the icing on the cake . The building is nice, and clean . It seems like a good place. The employees completely ruined my night. Won’t be back.

The workers at club 38 have always been friendly. I love them . I miss my complimentary hotel stays. My fiance was like a little kid going to an amusement park for the first time when he saw the hotel room. It was all over when he found out about the weight room. Covid has limited a lot of things at the Ameristar but I was excited to return once they opened back up. The Ameristar is my home away from home, lol.

Waited in line a half hour to cash a check. 2 people working. Not the casino it used to be. Machines barely pay anything to play. Must be to make up for being closed. Used to rave about ameristar. Not so much anymore.
I went at midnight no crowds. Machines was a little tight hard to win but nice to get out for a little while.

I understand during these trying times that you arent running up to par...I booked rooms for end of the month of June and then I see on your web-site your hotel information coming in the next few weeks. Which was not on there when I booked the rooms. Why allow guests to book if your not open. No one is answering phones because you havent brought the staff back...I have the V.P. of hotel number and he never answers nor is there a vm you can leave. This is for mine and my twins bday. Very disappointing not knowing if my reservation will holdup. Needs an Update but an Overall Good Experience!!I had the chance to stay at the Ameristar Casino hotel during a business trip to the East Chicago area. I had a very early appointment the next day and didnt want to stay in Hammond or Portage this time. After checking many reviews I decided to give the Ameristar Casino a shot. As I cam off the highway there are signs that clearly indicate where the casino is. When you enter the property there is Valet parking, a massive covered parking area and an outside parking lot. I used the covered parking lot and made my way into the hotel and checked in. - (A tip for the folks who check guests in, ask where they parked since I was given a high floor room in the tower opposite from the covered parking garage.) It was quite the hike with a duffel bag, backpack and 2 suitcases. No worries though, I just found it a little annoying. I made way to the elevator and all the way up to the room. When I entered the room I immediately got this glory from a past era vibe. The room itself was spacious but reminded me of a casino hotel I stayed in, in Laughlin NV in the 90s, still, the room was clean, it had only a slight odour of smoke and the furniture was dated, as another reviewer mentioned, I had the same peeling couch in my room. Overall the room was large, the furniture comfortable and the bathroom was very palatial.One of the positives of my stay was the view, I had a really good view of the shoreline and it was a clear sunny day which made the experience better. The wifi in the room was strong and I was able to get some work done. For the foodie, the hotel features an award-winning steakhouse, a sports bar, a buffet-style restaurant and a burger shop. All standard in any casino-hotel property. however, I would like to see an early morning specialty coffee bar, that would be great as I had to drive all the way to Dunkin just to get a decent coffee. I could not find the fitness center so I went for a long walk around the hotel and beach area, which was a very nice stroll. The hotel simply needs a facelift and the staff should be more attentive to guests needs, otherwise, everything else was great. There arent many options in East Chicago, so for the price, this is a good value.

We were very impressed with the room! The bed was comfortable, it was clean. The bathtub was huge! The showerhead was up high which my husband who is tall really appreciated. The in room coffee wasnt the greatest.

I visited the casino yesterday and covid 19 is an accident waiting to happen there. They tell everyone a mask is recommended, but when smoking its alright not to wear a mask. Then people are walking right behind you blowing smoke right at you along with the virus. I wont be going back anytime soon.

The customer service was terrible was sitting up a family reunion and it took me a week to get a quote on how much 10 rooms ..I was trying to get the Group price she was never in I called and left messages over and over I called the manager she was not in I called her over and over I only got someone when I told them I was going to call corporate then I got a quote of how much ...They emailed it to me it did not have my name on it and had 21 rooms on it and $169 a night that was more than me just booking the room... Oh she call me and I really couldn’t understand too much of what she was saying because she was coughing in the phone she said she was out because she had a cold ... I was more concerned with the virus then and what they doing to protect people because thousands of people come through there a day and night and she could not answer me for coughing this was crazy ...the manager called me and had the lady in the background coughing and I said to the manager Jammie Williams she don’t need to be here coughing like that and she said she went to the hospital and the doctor said it was OK for her to come to work..but it takes 12 days to really know if you have that virus so to be safe give her the days off to take care of that and make the customers happy she said to me have a nice day and hung up...lol

Fun place and atmosphere for a nearby local casino. Offers many options such as low end slots to high end tables. Several things for the novice to remain entertained without draining your bank account.
Far as a Casino it not as exciting as the Horseshoe Casino but better than the Majestic Casino. I believe that if they stepped it up a little bit more they would be good contender for the Horseshoe. Move the betting area somewhere out the middle of the entrance way. Give those people somewhere to sit and sip as they wait for their results without people having to maneuver through them to get inside. I think a little sitting area to chill and listen to some music while taking a break. Also give more coupons and have more daily sweepstakes and free play to draw more gamblers in.
HotelPlace was nice and I enjoyed the 2 nights inward there... but, Elevators, hallways and my room always smelled like weed...it was some good smelling stuff but, I left smelling like it too.CasinoNot a bad place.Drinks arent free and table service is hit or miss which really got annoying especially since I wanted to keep playing but was dying of thirst. Called it a night early, both nights, because of thatThe lady on the roulette table dropped the dolly in to the chip collector and we had to stand there for about 30 minutes, with alot of chips on the table, before they got another one. I hit BIG on that one though, over $500.So it wasnt too badI would stay here again

This will be a much better place whatever you think. Pretty clean rooms and very spacy. Also it has a great bath inside of the restroom.Casino area is too much smoky so not really clean air. Many players packed inside especially in bacarrat floor.Dealers are very kind and nice people. Fair spot to play blackjack and bacarrat tourney on weekends.

Stayed here for two weeks on business, had a pretty good experience on someone else’s dime. I will come back as long as I’m not paying.
I have stayed at this place previously but this time i stayed for two nights and there was no housekeeping service for the second night (no idea why). However, when I called, they did bring fresh towels but said they would not do the bed. Also, I was under the impression the hotel lobby was a non-smoking area and There was a gentleman smoking a cigarette by the lobby elevators which made it quite uncomfortable to wait for the elevator.
It was a great experience and a good time, except that we came up here for Texas Hold’em and they didn’t have it. we drove about 3 hrs to get here so rather angry that when I called to make sure they had it when in fact they didn’t.
This rating is for the hotel and not the casino. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Bathroom had separate walk in shower. The view of the lake from our room was beautiful. Very friendly and conscientious staff.
Last Saturday 7-11-20 I had a very bad experience. I feel that it was discrimination so my person in the casino I like to play on some machines so I had to wait until one was vacated. But another person said that It was before me. I called security and they forced me to give the machine to the other person, very bad since I have been visiting that place since the first day that Ameristar became his previous name was Harras
Be prepared to wear face mask ALL the time even if your > 10 feet from anyone sitting alone at isolated slot machine or risk the yelling of over weight security guard screaming at you. Now Im not talking when your moving thru boat. Of course one wears it then. Also they do NOT clean machines after any ones use so you must wear gloves or carry your own sanitizer.

Today was a bad day at Ameristar. 4 power outages and long wait times. Not enough staff and employees didnt know what to do.
Cancelled my reservations because of the miss communication 3 employees gave me about making a reservation an i was told so many different things , so i decided to cancel my trip there they need to all be on the same page about what are the staff rules an what i ppl need to make an reservation

Best tyme of are life and so nice and clean great staff.... You never have to leave the hotel so much to do inside, shopping, few different places to eat.... 4 floors to gamble on, and they are big floors, we walked the beach awesome.... Even rode the free shuttle into Chicago for the day, ate and explored a few shops.... Really was the best trip that was close to home for a couple....
