This is a great park. Very large and spacious. There is a nice playground for both little and bigger kids. There are multiple baseball and soccer fields. There is also an artificial turf field. Easy access to tobacco trail entrance.

This is a pretty nice park, it has a little shelter with a couple of grills, you can have a party here. I dont know if you can reserve it or if you just first come first serve it.Reason for three stars is it takes a long time for anything to get fixed. Right now some of the little cog wheels that kids can play with are completely stuck and have been for several months. Something else always seems to be broken, and sometimes hazardous. There are a bunch of ball fields around and Im not sure who plays there. But those fields are usually busy with kids playing sports.I can entertain a 3-year-old and an 8-year-old here for about 30 minutes to an hour max.

Ballfields are always clean and orderly and everyone is doing a great job of social distancing and masks. Only reasons it is not 5 stars is parking. So many times you have to park on the far soccer field parking and then trek with all your baseball gear, chairs, etc to the other side of the park

Park was well maintained. Unfortunately within 10 minutes of me, my toddler and husband kicking around a soccer ball, a police officer drove past every other area (of white families) to the deserted soccer field we were in and parked near us, watching. And then didnt leave until we started packing up and got into the car. At which point the cop drove off....slowly.

This is a pleasant park with sporting fields, a barbecue pit, a pavilion, and a playground. The fields and playground are in a decent state of repair, but theres some erosion and washout at the fire pit and the pavilion is getting a little run down. Overall, a good place to take the kids and a nice location for sporting events.

City park on land furnished by the Herndon family. Specialty here is ballfields. Restrooms open during warmer seasons, port-a-johns during colder seasons. The park also serves as a trailhead for the American Tobacco Trail.

One of our favorite playgrounds. It hits so many of the must haves and includes many more bonus features. This playground is great because it:- has easy access to water and restrooms- has big kids and little kids play equipment- has multiple shady areas for hot NC Summers- has lots of spots for caregivers to sit- has loads of close and easy parkingThis playground is AWESOME because it:- is actually a Durham City Park with soccer and baseball fields you can play on and reserve- has a picnic shelter with a grill which is, again, reservable- has lots of sidewalls curling around the park for little walks- is immediately adjacent to the American Tobacco TrailVisit this playground! You will not regret it.

This park is actually bigger than expected. It has an entrance coming from the tobacco trail and it is in a safe wonderful neighborhood minutes away from Southpoint. The park itself has a number of baseball fields and even more soccer fields. At times you can catch a few of the nearby colleges practicing here like Elon Duke and Central. There is usually an open field, it hasnt let me down yet. It is a really good gathering place for larger sized groups. The playground area is good enough for kids to have fun and roomy enough for the parents.

I have to assume this park is off of the American Tobbaco Road greenway. I was running with a running group and we ran by a park but I dont know the name of it. We usually us the restrooms there, in the Summer the restrooms are open around 7 am but in the Winter we have to use the port-a-johns early in the morning. But the park is usually clean and well kept.

Great city park, with 2 lighted baseball fields used for Little League Baseball, a lighted turf soccer field, a smaller turf field (field hockey size), and an open grass field near the entrance (often used for ultimate, flying kites, etc.). A concession stand building houses restrooms. Playground has a small toddler area, as well as a young kids area with swings, climbing structure & 2 slides (with mulch). There are a few picnic tables and grills (charcoal) in a wooded area in the center of the circular drive (but its not a huge space). A paved path connects to the American Tobacco Trail. Lots of parking, but during busy days with sports games, parking is crowded.

This is a nice little park on the American Tobacco Trail with someone baseball fields and a playground for kids. I usually stop in for water or to use the restroom while walking the trail. The bathrooms and water fountains could be a bit better maintained. They have a small kids and big kids play area and a shaded pavilion that is a little small. I wish they would install some shade screens over the playground to keep the sun off the kids.

We have a love and hate relationship with this park. First off there isnt very much shade, so not a summer friendly park. The tiny shelter by the park isnt leveled so water collect leaving the only seating by the playground tricky to sit down. The trash can by the shelter usually smells pretty gross. Pros, it is right off the ATT. It has side walks that are hilly which are great for fast cruising on a scooter or plasma car. The restrooms are usually descent. They have a batting cage, two baseball fields, a soccer field and two multi use fields.

I am new to the NC area and I was having a difficult time finding a quiet, safe road biking trail, until I happened upon Herndon Park. Though a lot of the ATT sections are a little on the sketchy side, Herndon Park is situated in the Southpoint area and real well maintained. I would highly recommend this park, for sure. I also noticed a reallly nice play area for the kids, as well as people playing baseball, a batting cage and soccer field.
