Eno River is a great place for trail running that goes along the river that has nice variety of woodland plants and animals. I was able to get some pretty good nature shots from my time here. The Cox Mountain Trail is about 4 miles round trip and is perfect for a workout. Its usually not too crowded compared to some of the other parks so parking isnt a hassle. Overall, a nice park worth visiting at least once.

Eno River state park is a wonderful place for a light to moderate weekend hike or to spend time near water. Just a 20-30 minute drive from downtown its convenient to a number of Durhamites. Trails arent perfectly marked, but can be followed easily enough by looking out for the blazers on the trees. Also, youre never far from a road or subdivision ( though youll not notice). Its our first choice for fall and spring recreation and reconnecting with nature without committing to drive hours and hours away.

Great park! Some of the trails were closed today but there was still plenty to see. We visited most of the trails and I think the Cole Mill entrance is the best. You can reach the river quickly and safely at this point. There are even stairs and rails to assist you. I did not see either upon arriving at the Pump Station access. The only restrooms are at the park office!

Beautiful river park with trails that follow along the river. There are plenty of good spots to stop and look out on the river, and some campgrounds that are easy to hike to. This is a fairly popular park and fills up fast, so arrive early to get a good parking spot. Trails are very well marked and traveled, so finding where you want to go is no problem.

This is my favorite place to go for hiking. Even though its on the edge of city limits, its a delightful area of woods and streams. The multiple trails offer a variety of relatively flat streamside walking and rolling upland hiking - something for everyone. I enjoyed thoroughly enjoyed my time with my family. Kids really enjoyed swimming in the fresh river.

Fabulous hiking trails and gorgeous scenery! The river was very crowded with people enjoying the summer afternoon but the trails were much less populated. We enjoyed a challenging 7 1/4 mile hike! It was a great escape into nature and solitude! We also enjoyed looking at the remains of an old home and of the mill. We cant wait to go back!

We had an awesome time on this trail today. Everyone was keeping their distance and enjoying the out doors. It didn’t seem like the river was closed because there were tons of people in it. We just hiked with our two year old ! The terrain was a bit tumultuous for a 2 year old but we still enjoyed ourselves and Were able to stick our feet in the water. It was a wonderful time and we will definitely be back very soon! I would highly recommend!

We will definitely be back to hike more of Eno River State Park. We started behind the visitor center headed up to the little rapids then along the river down to the bridge. Not an official park trail but it it has been a frequently traveled path for some time. Very beautiful and peaceful. There is even a (where I assume park staff drive through if needed) shallow enough that you can walk to the other side of the river. My husband and our 4 yo walked across and the water was low enough that their clothes stayed dry. Pack a lunch and be prepared to spend the day. Get there early because parking spots go quickly. If you have a Park Passport remember that Eno River visitor center has the stamps for Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area as well so if you have gone there or are planning to go let the staff at the visitor center know you need a stamp or sticker for there as well.

Very beautiful and comfortable place to be. The trees provide great shade during very hot days. Nice trails, not too difficult, but definitely no cake walk either. The river is nice and cool. Its great especially after all that walking. Will absolutely go back to this place. I like going in the mid afternoon. Most people are gone by then and there is enough parking.Caution, signs are posted warning people about car thieves. Apparently you dont have to worry about dangerous animals, except some dishonest humans.Just dont leave any valuables behind or cover them up. Better yet, dont bring any.Ive seen a lot of tanners around, so thats always nice to see. I enjoyed this place.

Beautiful park with easy to follow trails that dont overdo the signage (which can distract from the natural beauty in my opinion). The creeks and rivers and ponds / small lakes look clean and naturally beautiful. I love taking photos of the small microcosmic things like algae and lichen etc., will attach a couple of those photos :)

I visited Eno River State Park a couple weeks ago and though the park was beautiful, we came back to the car to find that the window had been shattered and the car had been burglarized. To my knowledge it’s still unknown who was responsible for this incident and, of course, the park lacks any useable surveillance. I will never go back to Eno with a sound peace of mind. I cannot, in good conscience, go without warning others of this experience and we were informed that burglaries have been a trend lately. If you don’t want to deal with this stress after enjoying yourself for a couple of hours at the park, please avoid this location.

We ( with my spouse, 10 yr son and 6 yr daughter) visited Eno river state park over the weekend. My expectations were low (after my experience in Raven Rock state park ). One thing I learnt is while going to any of such parks , you should have an idea that which spot (or trail ) you want to visit. Not all spots would be good. I believe with my earlier visit of Raven Rock state park, we picked a trail to walk which had nothing interesting for my kids. But in Eno state park we parked our car in the 2nd parking lot (near to Cox mountain trail, pic posted by me) . Follow the footbridge way /direction from parking. Thats the first thing we did right. When we walked down for around 8 mins, we saw a river and moving ahead a footbridge came . We got settled down after the bridge and enjoyed playing inside the river. It was fun for kids. Although, it was rocky and rocks were slippery. So, I assisted my kids inside the river. Water was flowing and I would say it was decent clean water ( not very clean though) . And then you can walk in the trails. Lot of places are there for taking pics which definitely matters to my wife. So, my kids played and happy and my wife took pics and happy. And then Overall I was happy .Some generic info - Restrooms are in parking areas only ( those get closed by 6 pm , not sure if this is because of current Covid situation). Get your own fruits /snacks etc for kids /yourself as needed.

Few’s ford is a good swimming pool and natual water park for kids and grown-ups. From the parking lot (36.077975, -79.007181), the river’s shallow and quiet part is a few steps away. 150 yards up to the upper stream you will find the rocky part of the river with a kid’s version of “white water”. The depth can allow adult’s half merged in the water and kid’s in full. Make sure you bring a floater so your little ones can play some water tubing activities, of course in some places you got to drag the tub. Make sure you bring some dry towels, wearing swimming suit and water shoes. Walking in the river with bare feet is not pleasant. You can easily find out animals in the river like water snakes.

I love parks and nature and try to take advantage of one whenever I am visiting somewhere away from home. I spent the day in Durham and checked out this park later in the afternoon. It was a hot, humid and hazy day so being under the trees for shade was a huge relief. I was tired from walking a lot in the hot sun. Apparently there are a few entrances to this park because the first one I went to looked just like smack in the middle of the woods with no path. I asked some people who were courageously going in and they redirected me to the main entrance. The main entrance had signs and a clear path which I was very thankful for. I only spent about an hour in this huge park and only covered a very small part near the front.I walked in and saw a pond with people actually cooling off in and decided to go sit by the water. It was so beautiful and serene. I just got my feet wet and chilled on some of the rocks for awhile enjoying the greenery. I walked a little further looking for the swinging bridge and bravely crossed it solo. Honey, I was holding for dear life while trying to snap chat me look like I was a pro, LOL. I let this family go ahead of me on the bridge so I could take my time and take some pictures and it was a lot of fun. I didnt venture further in to some of the other trails because this city gal didnt want to be in the woods in the dark. I will definitely check this park out again to get walk some more hiking trails and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
