Spent the day in Dubuque on a beautiful fall like day. We have always wanted to try this but never have...always just drove by and wondered! So today was the day!! It was so fun. Yes its only a little ride, yes it less than 3 minutes...but sooooo worth it. The conversations you have with those aboard your cart, the views from the top and the giggles from the kids as they think they are going to bumb into the car going the opposite direction. The gentleman at the ticket booth was so friendly and pleasant, this was so worth the 3 dollar round-trip! Dont waste another visit to Dubuque without taking a ride!!

Long wait in line due to social distancing guidelines. Short but enjoyable ride and great views of Dubuque from top. Just a couple points. No public restrooms and cash only. $3 for adults round trip and $1.50 for children. Cars can hold up to six people. You pay at top after riding up. You could spend $3 on much less.

What a great, fun little attraction. We had a blast riding it to the top and enjoying the view. If you’ve got 30-45 minutes to burn, I highly recommend it even if you’re just passing through.

Its quirky, its affordable, and most visitors get that a little social distancing and courtesy is a huge benefit. And its completely true, you CAN see three states from the top. This is the kind of attraction that ranks with the Worlds Largest Pencil or the gravity-defying Mystery Spots of the world. Fun, straightforward, and not something you have down the street. I consider it a must-see for any self-respecting Dubuque visitor. Even better is the price, a round trip for the entire length of the Worlds Shortest Railroad running at $3.

Such a fun thing to do in Dubuque. You get on at the bottom of the hill and pay when you get to the top. Be sure and get a pamphlet that tells you the history of the elevator. Fabulous views once you reach the top. When you go back down there is a fun ice cream shop as well. Be sure and stop there and have a treat!

I always love going to this place when I visit Dubuque IA. Its a great attraction. I love riding the rail cars. It takes u to the top of a wonderful lookout where u can take pics and view the Mississippi River and the City of Dubuque. You can see the 2 other States. Illinois and Wisconsin. They had goats on the hillside to eat the brush. Such a sight to see.

You must visit this!!! Its the shortest, steepest funicular elevator in the world... quite the experience to travel up/down and is very reasonably priced. The view from the top is spectacular - you can see the whole downtown area and the beautiful Mississippi River. There are some quaint shops in the Bluff St. area at the bottom.

Very unique little tourist attraction. We followed the address on their website which led us to the top. It was a little scary driving up there (for a flatlander like me) so try to find the address for the bottom and take it up and back down instead of the other way around. Im not fond of heights but could handle this without a problem. My kids loved it and the ride is short so they didnt get antsy. The view at the top is pretty cool so dont miss this if youre in Dubuque.

Interesting attraction. Quick and cheap with great views of Dubuque, the Mississippi River and the tri state area. A definite must see. CASH ONLY! So be prepared when you pay at the top. Check out the website before you go to read about the interesting history of this elevator. Takes less than five minutes to ride up or down and you get to see beautiful views on the ascent and also when you get to the top. There is an observation area where you can get great photos of the bridge, Dubuque, the Mississippi river and also the interesting street art on the buildings. $1.50 per person for a one way trip or $3.00 per person for a round trip. Each cart has four seats on either side so a group of eight could go up together. At the top of the elevator on the hill is a beautiful historic neighborhood with nice streets to walk through and get a little fresh air.
