This was a pleasant hike my son and I did yesterday. It is rated easy on AllTrails. The path is easy and well maintained. This hike is short and can be done in a short time depending on how fast you walk. This is great for kids. There are other off shoot hikes you can explore. I recommend this hike

I am visiting in the area and so have no experience with other nearby hikes, but this 2 1/4 mile loop was exactly what I was looking for: some elevation and views, but not too difficult and not too long. I lucked into a very cool, brisk day after a couple that were super hot and smoky, so it was a treat to see across the valley to the distant mountains beyond that were newly dusted with snow. The trail has no shade and so could be rough on a hot, sunny day. Hat and sunscreen recommended. There is a large map posted at Orson Smith Park, where I started the hike. I returned to the trailhead the same evening to catch the sunset. Beautiful!

Fun hike, but take water and go when its cooler. The whole loop is about 2.35 miles, the switchbacks arent too steep, and there are flat areas to catch your breath.I recommend closed-toe shoes since the trail is gravel and sand.Valley views are beautiful! On a clear day you can see all the way across the valley to the Oquirrhs.Nice, clean restrooms at the trail head. Running water.

Absolutely love this place. Great hike for the family. Well worth it once you reach the bridge. Very nice crowd of people, helpful. Evening is the best time to go due to hardly no shade during the daytime. Take lots of water for hydration. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful trail to do when its not too hot. Perfect Spring or Fall hike. There are some steep sections but still great for kids. Fun suspension bridge crossing and great city views. About 1.8 miles roundtrip to parking lot for the whole loop.

We enjoyed the hike up to the suspension bridge. It was mostly an easy hike. We enjoyed looking down into the valley in the evening and seeing the city lights. The one thing to be aware of is that the bridge is a suspension bridge and it moves as youre walking across it. The trail leads to a few other trails as well. We are planning to go on the other trails in the future. It was a fun hike.

Best place to visit with kids with little hike. Bridge looks so beautiful and feel the swing of bridge. Trail was easy. Little kids can easily hike in trail.

Review №12

Its a lovely hike for the area that can be enjoyed by all, but compared to many up in the canyons this left something to be desired. The trail has very little shade making it an oven if you try during the summer afternoon and the end youre just rewarded by a bridge. Again, great family hike near the city, but misses when compared to mountainous hikes in the area (ie. Bells canyon)

Really good family-friendly hike! Brought our dogs and it was perfect. The beginning is the hardest part and then it slowly gets easier. Doesnt take too long and it is really pretty along the way. Not a lot of shade leading up to the bridge. Id say this is a pretty mild hike

For 1st timers we were a little confused when Google Maps led us to a private road that was gated. I had to pull over and research where to go. Park in the Orson Smith Park parking lot and follow the trail head signs for the Bear Canyon loop. The trail is clean and fairly simple to follow. It was 95° and there was virtually no shade which my boys complained of a bit. (We discussed going earlier or later in the day when the sun would not be so hot for our next trip there) The only benches we found were at either end of the bridge. There are many boulders next to the trail which could be used as a seat or to lean on along the way. Not an issue for us, but maybe not the easiest for those needing to rest often. The trail is a bit steep so you need to be steady on your feet. We met a few hill walkers and 1 cyclists on our journey but we were mostly alone. Our adventure was an un-rushed one and we took our time looking at wildflowers and enjoying the view. Once we reached the suspension bridge we enjoyed the breeze and sound of the river running below the bridge, looking out across the valley as well as a granola bar and water, all of which recharged our batteries! Enjoy and be safe!

Excellent hike! We parked at Orson Smith Park and took the Orson Smith trail to Bonneville Shoreline Trail, north to the bridge and then down Ralph’s Trail and back to the park using the Aqueduct Trail. An awesome and beautiful hike. The hike is a moderate workout going up to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail but then you have quite a distance of basically level track with breathtaking views all the way to the bridge. The waterfall below the bridge is absolutely beautiful. We hiked midday in mid-August, temps were in the 90’s but we had a marvelous breeze almost constantly which is common in this wonderful climate. Highly recommend this hike! If you like this review, let me know with a thumbs up :)

If youre not in the best shape, this one is rough to get to. Its about a mile or two round trip hike. It is up on the mountain in east Draper. The dirt paths are pretty steep. The bridge itself is awesome, great view! Its a suspension bridge, and it does bounce as you walk on it. Thats definitely not for everyone, haha. Overall very cool hike, my 7 year old made it just fine with me.

Fun hike! Almost zero shade, so bring water and maybe avoid going during summer afternoons or you’ll never recover from the heat lol. They have really nice bathrooms here (compared to most outdoor restrooms). There are also shaded picnic benches and a small bouldering wall at the beginning of the hike. The trail gets pretty steep at times. It could be a challenge for a beginner, but is a really fun hike! The bridge is really creaky and wobbly, but seems secure and has a really beautiful view.

This is a fantastic hike! We brought our baby, 4 yr old, 6 year old as well as our puppy and we all loved it! It was a little confusing to find and Im still not sure we started started at the best place but we just went to Orson Smith park and started on the trail from there and after a few switch backs you see signs that show you where to go to get to the bridge loop. The bridge was so fun for my kids. I also loved that pretty much the whole time you are hiking you have a beautiful view of the valley. One note though, from reading reviews I was picturing more of a gentle walk but its a good hike with some steep parts. Nothing terrible just it is a good work out especially for kids! But my kids are already asking when they can go back so I think its a win!
