Macs cheer has been more than cheer for my daughter. It has been a boost to her self esteem, taught her resilience, taught her a team mentality, and so much more. One year ago she walked in the gym nervous and unable to even do a front roll, despite that, they worked with her, were tough but loving because they knew they could push her, and she’s doing amazing! She’s now able to do rolls, cartwheels, roundoffs and walk overs. Gym is part therapy for her. The coaches have been so incredible. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would

All of the coaches at Macs Cheer have been extremely rude to the athletes in the 6 years that I was part of their program. I had coaches tell me that I am too big to fly and none of the bases want to base me because I am not good enought to fly, and never will be. Those are direct quotes. I am 5 tall and weigh less than 100 lbs. My first years were spent being bullied by all the members of teams I was on. These last 3 years, I have been bullied by the coaches and the owner. I dont care if this gets taken down. I can post it again.

I went here for years as a kid. It ruined my self esteem. The coaches were terrible, verging on abusive. Im only leaving this review because last night, (six years later) I had a nightmare I had to go back. Don’t send your children here, they’ll end up in therapy. :)

Was considering enrolling my daughter in their program. Until I heard from multiple sources that after canceling their competition and letting everyone know after they had traveled out of state they were unwilling to refund any money. Seems like really poor practices to me.

MACS is amazing! We have been with MACS for 4 years and would have been with them longer if they were in Utah county sooner. I have two daughters that have been part of the MACS family. They both have loved their coaches and teammates over the years. We were so excited to go to a gym where they could cheer at a level 5. It’s wonderful knowing Mac and Janet always take care of their athletes and have a great plan for their teams. They are both amazing with my girls and I have always had the utmost trust in both of them. Cheer is a very demanding sport and they always strive to be at the top. The amount of time they put in is incredible and it shows! If you want to be at the top, this gym will take you there!! Hard work, blood, sweat and tears!! We are a family!!

Macs number one goal is to win above all else. My daughter cried during or after every practice (Draper gym, level 1). Instead of addressing the team spirit/bullying or encouraging individual goals, they used emotional abuse and threats to keep the kids working hard. My daughter would stand for over an hour and wasnt allowed to practice individual skills during the parts of the routine she wasnt in. If she watched other teams, adjusted her shorts, fixed her pony tail, or tried to practice skills, shed get yelled at or threatened. I mentioned my concerns to a coach and was met with defensive excuses instead of a plan moving forward. My daughter was made to stand alone, facing forward for over an hour at a time on two more occasions before I pulled her from the team. They arent going to change the entire gym culture. There is no communication with coaches. You are told to only talk to Janet or Mac. Huge red flag! This isnt just a coach problem, my daughter and I would over-hear the kind of condescending and singling out of other teams by coaches and Mack himself and fear that her treatment would get worse the further she progressed. The further I get from Macs, the more stories I hear from other parents and athletes who have the same and worse experiences of neglect and sexual manipulation of the older teams. I encourage everyone to file a complaint and write a review of your experience.

Super unimpressed! My daughter was so excited to try cheer at Mac. She went to the non-comp cheer with 20+ girls- 3 of whom were new that evening. They did BS stuff the first half, and when they did a routine 1.5 hours later, they put her in the baby group that consisted of 4 kids under 6. My daughter is 11!!!! She is the same height as 3 of the other girls that they put in the big girls group. She stood around for 30 minutes doing absolutely nothing because she was classified as a baby and incapable of comprehending what was going on- according to her instructor. They then went to tumbling around the corner and was left to her own accord since she was happily waiting her turn- which meant everyone else got all of the instructors time. Thank goodness I hadnt paid for that initial class or I would have wanted my money back. This lesson has turned my daughter off of cheer now. Thanks Mac- youre awesome. Keep up the crappy work!

Punishing kids for stuff that is completely out of their control and we provide proof is unexpectable on all levels. Take your child to any other cheer organization.
