Beautiful theatre, its very clean and every seat has a good view of the stage. The parking is free and there is no food allowed inside the theatre, you can eat snacks at intermission in the patio area. We brought our children to watch The Nutcracker and we all loved it very beautiful and special performance.Came back to have a mommy daughter date & watched So Cal dance theaters Sleeping Beauty. Love the performances here! :)

Nice small venue so all seats are great for viewing stage. Sheila E concert was fantastic... although not the best venue for dancing in your seat. Would go again, not one to pass up live entertainment!!!

The new updates on this place is amazing. New elevator, new entry and what not. They did a good job on the design. Only downfall is the contractor doing the work is shady.

A favorite for dance competitions! Just a walkway across is the hotel which is perfect for families. Plenty of restaurants and entertainment within walking distance. Great seating and a spacious backstage area. We look forward to going every year.

It was my first time there. Went to see Alexis Valdez and we had a fantastic time. We had great seats in the upper level. Even though they are remodeling the place. We liked it.

Nice theatre here in Downey. Watching these kids perform festive Xmas music. Cant wait to see them perform again.

Construction going on... Looking good

This past Christmas season my son was in The Nutcracker presentation here I Downey theater. Definitely a nice little theater. Park across the street at the high school and just a short walk.

Great place! I came here for my daughters award ceremony. Upstairs seating was nice as I was able to have a great view. I know they have different types of events going on here all the time that are worth checking out.

Is a nice place. In a good location.

Amazing Symphony Orchestra concert last night!

Well it was a great experience, i truly enjoyed the show.

We went here for our two granddaughters dance recitial Wonka World on July 14, 2019. Assigned, comfy seating and I really dont think there is a bad seat in the house. The mezzanine is roomy and attractive and the outdoor area very nicely landscaped.

Staff is very kind. Went one day for tickets. Got out in a minute. Went to Doty recital, NO line outside. Good! It was cold! My 4th winter recital & line had 3 infront of me instead of a waiting outside for an hour n a half!

Nice venue, every seat is a good one!

I was surprised of how comfortable the stadium seats are. And although the movies were dated in a sense I was able to see a gain the movie I liked. With a price for viewing significantly way below what I anticipated. The theatre decor is inviting.

A yearly treat, better than last year

A great venue for a dance competition. Seating allows a good view of the stage from almost any area. Good lighting and very clean.

I’ve performed in this stage three times. The house staff is calm and helpful, and the facility is comfortable. I just wish they had better lighting in the upstairs dressing area.

I went to a dia de los muertos festival. They had many food, they were selling lots of cute things, my uncle bought me a necklace. There was music , a costume contest. But what I liked most were the many dia de los muertos altares.

I love working with the staff at this theater. Always friendly and helpful, makes putting on a production simple. Also a great venue for watching a show. Truly no bad seats.

I love this little theater. It has a certain intimacy to it because of its size. We have been there for different occasions from my daughters band performing to the Downey symphony orchestra performing. They offer various concerts and free events. It has two floors, but Im not sure that there is an elevator for the second floor. They remolded the restrooms not that while ago, they are really nice but theres only a few so there will be a line if you need to go.The only problem that I find is the parking. Most of the times, they open up the high school parking which has plenty of parking but it is across the street to the theater. Other than that, I strongly recommend going to an event at the Downey Theater.

Downey Theatre is a modest sized venue for local events and concerts. It apparently shares free parking with an hotel, so depending on the event or season parking could be difficult I suppose. Seating inside is a little more comfortable than other similar theaters in local cities, but is not on par with large venues say in Los Angeles or some other metropolis. Sound is not the best, but that may depend on part on the event organizers?

Wonderful program of the highest quality. The conductor and Music Director, Sharon Lavery puts her whole body and soul into bringing the best performance of her orchestra to the audience. She really conveyed the love and joy she has for music. Downey Symphony Orchestra is fortunate to have her! The orchestra is the real thing with all the musicians performing at such a superior level that allows the audience to enjoy a symphony at its best.

No a bad theater. Big stage with good lighting. I saw my daughters ballet recital there. Parking is a pain. We had to park across the street at the highschool because what little parking they have is always taken by the hotel customers that are right next door.

I went for dia de Los muertos festival... itLots of people. My first time, but hopefully it will be a tradition, my 26 yrs. Old daughter was like a little mom lets go here and there... If you havent been here I do recommend it.

The front row seating was a bit too close for fully viewing the stage. Other than that the help was friendly and helpful. Parking was a challenge.

Would give it five stars but the seats compared to the other theaters in Downey are very dated. Also the numbering order on the seats are in a certain order that makes you go an extra step just to find a seat.

Got to see Merry-achi Christmas Concert, show was amazing & tearful at moments cause some songs reminded me of my grandparents who are no longer with us. All around great show & got great seats from up top.

Went here for the Dia de Los Muertos festival. Had a great time.

This wonderful building with so much local history is sadly now mismanaged by VenueTech. They were successfully able to bully and overcharge Downey Civic Light Opera out of existence in 2013. They are unable to fill the theater seats with their second rate one-night productions and the city is forced to bail them out financially. The safety of the stage performers at Downey Theater is even at question now due to VenueTechs complacency and lack of professionalism. The local high school drama department could do a much better job of running this theater and would probably cost much less.

WARNING!!!!!! I purchased tickets to a performance. Sat on my seat with my family. I went to the bathroom when i returned my seats were taken even though my son and niece told them that I was sitting there. Downey theater did nothing to recover my paid for seats. I had to find another seat. Be advised if you go to the bathroom when you come back your seat may be taken!!!! I will never buy another ticket for downey theater. The personnel there does not care about its customers
