I had the most beautiful time here. I enjoyed the outside nature and beautiful spots of Belle Park. Take your family out and get some fresh air. Remember to take a look around what in front, behind you, and even on your side. You will be surprised if what pictures you may capture on your trip to this beautiful place.

We were looking for an outdoor spot to eat lunch by the water. We saw this on Google maps and decided to give it a shot. We quickly found a nice grassy spot alongside the river. There were some bird around but they left us alone. After we ate and took pictures we drove around the island. It was beautiful with all of the trees showing their fall colors. I’m not sure why, but there was no admission fee, which was nice.

Michigan State Parks is doing a nice job renovating/updating Belle Isle and its facilities. We saw work progressing throughout the park when we visited in mid October 2020. I say Thanks to the State of Michigan for taking over the park and to its employees and contractors for their work. Weve always enjoyed visiting the island and are happy to see the updates.

Its an amazing piece of land, but people disgust me. I understand that it is a pandemic out there, but people are rude and inconsiderate. The sunrise view was amazing, but after the sun came up it was a different story. This is why we cant have nice things anymore. All these disrespectful people. Ill be back periodically to see if there are any improvements as the state reopens. I truly hope this great piece of land can become what it once was...

Husband and I go here to fish on weekends. So far hes been lucky (I never got any yet since) and got couple of bass and catfish. But all of them small. We used both worms and lure. Its not too buggy and less mosquitoes compared to Lake St. Clair so thats good. You can also do kayaking and canoeing here while fishing. You can also trek the Blue Heron Park. Havent checked their restrooms. Sometimes there are live music performances or events so there would be lots of people but there is always parking space. This also have lovely sunsets.

I wish that the park as a whole would of been taken care of better. So many buildings are closed down. The planetarium was under construction so my family went to the aquarium. It was a great learning experience for my boys. They had different fish from all over tge world and told information about each fish. It was really educational. It is all done on donations which I think is amazing also. I loved it and my boys really got into looking at the fish and reading every detail. They did it good!

I go back a long time at Belle Isle Park. It all started with the Berkley Skating Club in 1952 when I started speed skating. As we evolved we joined the Wolverine Sports Club & started skating on the canals at Belle Isle Park this took place until I was in my late teens. I remember going to the pavilion to get warm and a bite to eat. After the races we would go to the aquarium & arboretum before we headed home. It is also a great place to take your bike for a ride around the island.

Love this park. Its clean and big. The playground is really big so kids have plenty of rooms to play and move around. Their is also a nature trail zoo, golf course, and I think the boat club (if thats what its called) . They also have the beach too. They do a lot of events here such as the food truck rally festival and it seems to me like a racing track they had set up too. People come here to fish as well.

I went to visit the abandoned zoo and as a whole it did not disappoint. Getting in was a little tricky and since the liability involved in having it otherwise, it was not too inconvenient. Tip, the maintenance gate opposite of the entrance has a janky lock on it that you can squeeze through. Like a mini quest, make your way to the center of the park where all the walkways converge, from there you can make your way in various directions. Its overgrown and most of the pens are not very discernable unless youre in them. The graffiti is pretty good outside of the various context-less conversations. You leave by the one way exit of the park through the textiles. I kinda wish that a more concise method of entry was established but I guess I get it.

Belle Isle Park is a park I have gone to for many years of my life. It now disappoints me to see how much it has gone down within the last couple of years. Seeing how the river has risen in many areas creating major floods is so unreal to me. The question I oppose is, What Went Wrong. About two years ago, I watch this park go from a very nice family friendly park with a beautiful flower house both in and outside, a nice little aquarium, and nice picnic areas, to flooded wet grounds, closed off areas due to the flooding, and things closed down. Yes it necessary for things to be closed now due to Covid-19, but these things I have mentioned happened long before Covid-19. I can only pray that the park that we all once loved be restored and become the park we can once again love, enjoy, and be proud of. HEY, IM JUST SAYING!!!

I was there in winter so by I didnt see much of the actual Park but I was able to visit the b aquarium and the conservatory. The aquarium is small, but aside from being the oldest one in the country, its also composed almost entirely of fresh water exhibits, which is a departure from your usual aquarium. The conservatory is very amazing and had lots of great tropical plants, including many kinds of ferns, philodendrons, bromeliads, orchids, fruiting trees including bananas and several species of Orange, and several different kinds of palm tree.
