Ive been going here since I was little and its so nice to be able to take my child here now. Always a fun time. Family friendly and the staff helps to encourage the young ones to keep skating. Very polite staff. Skating is always a fun time!

It was good the skate kinda hurted they are rude when it comes to the rules and embarrass you if you did not know or if you were unaware of if you were breaking the regulations to skate

We gave our two granddaughters a birthday party there just this past Saturday, and the the staff was very, very pleasant even the attendants outside. We had a large party there and everyone had a ball especially the kids. The accommodations were great. I would recommend anyone if the wanted a nice rink to go to go there.

Definitely thought this would be more fun than what is was. The music was more like beats and no actual songs you can get excited about and go to the floor with friends - that was probably the most disappointing thing. With that someone in my group mentioned they think the speakers were messed up - so maybe that was part of the issue? Either way - extremely anti-climatic.It was awesome being surrounded by so much culture though! Amazing talent in there the night I went on a Saturday for the Adult skating (even though kids were there and an announcement was made at the end of the night not to bring kids in the future)Lastly, the staff was a bit rude not much for customer service. Not sure if Ill be back but I wouldnt recommend to others.

We were having fun when all of a sudden two girls started fighting. Dont know why, dont care. Violence is never the answer! Overall I liked the fact people were skating with their children and grandchildren. they sweep the floor when they saw trash,I lost my phone and got it back. I saw a lot of people having fun. I will definitely go back, the staff was accommodating and polite.

Friday night skating with the adult crowd. Keith is a certified skate trainer. He was very patient with me. Hes a great skater and teacher.

I like it here! It’s nothing compared to how it used to be back in the day. My complaint is the sound system and music and horrible. It’s like the music is too loud to the point you can’t hear the song’s clearly and the music that’s being played doesn’t fit the skating rink! Just my opinion. As I’m reading other comments, it shows a lot of people feel the same way.

Still a classic place to skate. They are in need of an update but nonetheless still functional and the rink is taken care of. Nothing that will trip a skater up. Great music by the DJ as I remember as a youngster.

Staff super nice skating is beautiful there it is AT YOUR OWN RISK which is common sense

I had an awesome time with GEM and friends at the skating event. I havent skated in many years, but l use to love to skate when l was younger. I truly enjoyed the fellowship!

I had so much fun! They take Groupon so my friend and I saved some money. Its really affordable. Sad they dont offer any Vegan or Vegetarian food options. I fell hard and the staff quickly came to my rescue. Lol. Thank you!

Saturday group lessons are cheap ($5 + $3 for skates) & fun & youll get some real 1-on-1 attention. I hadnt been on skates since I was kid & it was as fun as I remember. if youre renting skates, be prepared to give them your left shoe/boot as collateral. lockers available too, only fifty cents!

If you love rollerskating this is the best place in Detroit. Largest rink in the state. Plenty of room to do tricks and show off your moves on the floor.Im old school so I like going to the adult-skate night. 25+ years old Friday nights 10p-1:30a. Nice mix of old school music and a some current R&B. Never anything raunchy or over the top...My only issue is that they do not keep their restrooms clean. Theyre always pretty filthy. Try to use the bathroom before you come here. *Only* reason why I couldnt give them five stars...

We’ve been coming here since I was a young kid this roller rink holds a lot of memories. Now that my son skates here it’s so funny to him enjoying it. Super huge rink, skating lessons and plenty of room this skating rink is the best!!! Skates are a little outdated but hey it’s still a awesome skating rink and kids and adults will enjoy!

Ive been rollerskating here since I was a kid. This is THE place to go to rollerskate in Detroit. I do believe it is the biggest rollerskating rink in tbe country.

I had a Blast! Adult hrs. 25 and up! Very friendly atmosphere!

Rink is in good shape, music choice was appropriate old school rap/hip hop, but too loud!

Skates are falling apart when you try to swap they tell you once you take them off you have to go home wore a hat thats too bad they dont all you to cover a bad hair day staff is rude definitely not worth it

This use to be my favorite roller rink. WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE. KIDS ARE WILD GROWN FOLKS AS WELL ITS A MESS. F. NOT A FAMILY PLACE ANYMORE WE DONT FILL SAFE HERE ANYMORE.

The DJ does not know how to play real SKATE music. Christopher Cross made a beautiful song “Sailing”. I admit it wasn’t a song, I expect to hear on a Friday Night Skate along with Too Short’s “It’s Time to Go”. We came to skate not to fall in love. Before getting out of the car we watched a man and two women fighting and arguing in the parking lot, which started at the front door lead into the park lot and around the building, and security didn’t stop them or ask them to leave. Soul Skaters “Be ware”. The Restrooms are foul and needs a lot attendant. Northland where do I start…when your so-called “DJ ” Who is not good at his job, uses the MF word when talking to skaters and feels bold enough to give skaters a middle finger, getting into a fight with another co-worker during a Sat. night skate, I was told he was fired that night. I went back two weeks later and there HE was. The sound system there is awful and bathrooms are really nasty. I noticed our teenagers are not treated nice when they are there and some new higher prices around the rink since the new floor…. The owner could have saved a lot of money on refinishing that NEW floor three or four times and invested it in hiring a “NEW DJ” that treats people like people. As a skater, I would skate on an old floor to great skate music anytime. Its time to take my money somewhere else.

I think northland skating rink is great.!!! Its been around for like 50 years or more. And after about 20 years, I decided to return to lose some weight skating. So, my experience has been great. Good skating music.

I took kids on teen night that only last from 7-10 and it had taken them a hour to get them in and it was freezing outside. First time since my daughters was stolen.

Nice for a family outing, however needs major upgrades and repairs. I went on a rainy day and noticed buckets collecting rain water in the middle of the skating ring. I looked up at the roof to my surprise there were many areas where it appeared to be gallon jug containers taped to the roof. I assume those too were placed to collect water. The staff could be more welcoming and pricing clearer.

Ive been going to Northland skating rink since I was in middle school and now my middle school aged children and I go. Still the same. Great staff and good fun.

Love the Northland Roller Rink. It has a lovely maple wood skating surface. The staff treated me very well. It is a brilliantly fantastic place to roller skate. I went for the all night skating event.

Speakers too much bass. Food is trash. Smells bad. Skate surface is nice tho. Not bad for the price.

Same ring when I was younger needs a up date cleaner better

The rink was dirty. It was apparent that it had not been vacuumed since the last session. It should be vacuumed every day of you want it presentable and appealing to customers. The sound system was not that clear either. I did like that they had adequate staff present in all areas and they did a variety of skating activities that included everyone s interest.

Music could be better on the adult night. Its everywhere.

Wonderful experience at Soul Skate 2018. A very large skate rink. Arrive early for a good parking space. Ended up parking at the drug store up the street. Water a dollar at the snack bar. Plenty of seating around the skate rink. Rink located on the rough side of Detroit. 8 mile... enjoyed skating at the rink. Awesome skate party.

Very Very bad music business has went down drastically because of the bad music I remember a time when you couldnt even find a parking .

Im happy and grateful they have police there. I heard my trigger finger is faster than yours one too many times. But I felt better because police were present. Went on Saturday around 7...my daughter is 10...not an appropriate crowd for her. There were teens and the music didnt match. They played 80s and 90s music for 16s and up. I hate their music but I noticed songs that I wanted to dance to and Im in my 40s.

Sound system is up too loud. Believe me I like my music loud, but I dont think the people working there understand how reverb even works.

Northland Roller Rink was the spot in the late 80s & early 90s. Then the shootings started. That kept me away for a long time. When I went back years later, the staff had become very rude and acted as if they didnt want to be at work. The crowd changed, the kids attending were very disrespectful of the older patrons. The building started deteriorating. It was dirty and smelled bad. The only positive is thw music.

North land roller rink is a fun family friendly place. But i think that if you should know that it is a very busy place with a lot of experienced skaters so if you dont know how to skate this might not be the place for you.

It smelled like feet. Everything is old, nothing but young high school children there. I gave it two starts because it had a good number of police there. And my daughter enjoyed herself and the staff was very awesome.

I brought my children to skate for the first time. My 3 year old cried and didn’t want to skate and there is no refunds. Total waste....smh

I really enjoyed skating at Northland, its been a while since I have been there but its takes away a lot of stress, like exercising, nice music...makes you feel good afterwards

I want to know, how is it security/police there on Saturdays 7-10 yet someone can get beat unconscious by a group of boys. Not a safe place for teens. Just sad! Some of our youth are terrible, irresponsible, careless, unloving, demons. Parents need to do better.And how did someone get a gun in if security is checking everyone properly. Makes no sense!

Ive seen a lot of tv in which detainees are processed and put behind bars. Thats what my experience seemed like while trying to enter and then pay for admission and ticket. Cant recall ever having a similar experience patronizing and other establishment. I cant believe in the city of Detroit, if you want to skate you must first be treated like a criminal.

I had a good time theres a nice Maplewood floor a lot of space reasonably priced the only thing bad was the music they were playing 90s music to 10 - 16 year olds

Fun place to go to skate just to free skate. However, I dont recommend booking a party for there. The room is tiny and the employees are not to friendly. The wouldnt give us a chance to grab our stuff and get out the room even though we still had 20 mins left in the room. They also cut our lazer tag time short.
