I enjoy plays at this vintage, quaint, friendly theatre. It needs a lot: larger building, better seating, and your financial support. The Repertory Theatre continues to offer excellent plays at a very minimal price. Please support this urban jewel.

I really like this theatre, very nice and intimate setting. The only thing I dont appreciate is Bruce Milan, the artistic director, is not very friendly, he begs for money, but doesnt speak to the patrons. If I wanted people to donate money, I would at least be cordial!

Incredibly intimate theater. Both the cast AND the audience are multi-racial. Each show is unique, with plenty of local talent. And forget about it being in a not so great neighborhood! Weve never felt anything but safe in the lighted, fenced parking area. The antique bar is unique, and dont forget to grab a warm homemade cookie for fifty cents !

An excellent show, in a lovely theater. If I lived anywhere close, Id definitely buy season tickets. To top it off, the bar was well stocked and the freshly baked cookies for sale were so much better than the overpriced candy bars most theaters sell. This place is obviously run and staffed by people who love it, and it shows.

Been attending plays at the “Rep,” for years! The setting always feels like I’m sitting at home, watching a movie with the family. Beautiful Art Deco, lovely, plush and cozy seats, with a cash bar, and delicious smelling soups, finger foods and appetizers to satisfy the palate. What I love most about the “Rep,” is that it’s still in the neighborhood, and the ticket prices are very reasonable.Bravo!

A Date Night idea that will surely be a hit. Have a cup or bowl of their gumbo, by a few freshly baked cookies, enjoy a glass of red wine or something stronger....all this is before the play. Then, sit back relax and experience a culturally diverse play. The acting is superb, the play…a bit off the beaten path of special effects overkill...but rather.... close face to face acting... no do-overs . The Detroit Rep ....is easy to access by freeways and plenty of secured parking. I love it, it is Detroits hidden treasure....go discover the gold!

Saw the DRTs production of Dauphin Island while visiting Detroit. The theatre is an intimate space, bigger than but akin to a black box, and seeing a two-person show there was an amazing experience. The facilities themselves are very classy, with a nice lounge and a large bar. If I were a local Id visit often.

Completed their workshop Spring of 2018. Excellent program. The staff is phenomenal. The rep needs funding so they can further teach acting classes and introduce new and accomplished playwrights.

Reliably great theater in a beautiful venue - We attended Buzz last night and loved it, like we have for the 4-5 shows we have seen here so far. The performances are always first-rate and the plays are always witty and fun. The venue is a wonderful surprise too. It is elegant, beautifully maintained, and operated by their dedicated staff and supported by generous donations from corporate and private sponsors. Apparently this theater has brought “diversity theater to Detroit since 1957.” The parking lot is secure and the theater entrance is in the rear of the building from within the parking lot. I only wish the nearby restaurant selection consisted of, well, anything. However, the theater has a full bar and great homemade soup and cookies at every show, so come early and enjoy the lobby and offerings. If you like theater of any kind, especially Detroit’s excellent community theaters, you’ll love this place too. 5 stars considering the bargain price.
