The volunteers who work there are very informative. There is a very rich history attached to Destin that it is a pleasure to learn about. They have some small activities for children so it is a potential place to take small ones on a rainy day. Keep in mind it is a small building so a large group of children would not be as easily accommodated.

Really neat place to visit and learn about the local history. Mostly indoors, though there are outdoor exhibitions as well. They sell laminated pamphlets of local fish and shells, shells (some are imported from international locations), shark teeth, ornaments, etc. They have kids and adult scavenger hunt games, which can be nice to help engage kids and teens.

Not really what I expected, but a wealth of history. It is very small, so you can go through it in an hour or two. Depends on how much information you want. They offer a self guided tour with headphones and provided smartphone. You follow the numbers to hear about the displays.

The lady at the front was a sweetheart and helpful with all our questions and giving us details about the Museum. Its not huge but tons to see and read about. We spent about an hour here. We went with our one year old and there were little things for him to do so it kept him entertained while we read.

Kathy was fantastic!!! More than a fishing museum. Great early history of Destin. A huge collection of artifacts in a compact museum. Well worth the $5.00 admission price. Ernest Hemmingway rod and reel is a very neat item. Loved the items from the Greek church as well!! Original post office was preserved perfectly.

Anyone that loves history will enjoy the Destin History & Fishing Museum. A few months ago we were given a guided tour of the museum and I was really impressed. Kathy Marler Blue is the Executive Director of the museum and is from one of the original families that founded Destin, FL.Kathy is an incredibly nice lady and has endless stories of all things Destin and all things Destin fishing. They have an entire room dedicated to the Destin Fishing Rodeo which is one of the longest running fishing tournaments in the United States. If youre staying on 30A or in Destin and looking for something fun to do other than the beach, I highly recommend checking out the Destin History & Fishing Museum.

The air conditioning was on. It definitely worked. That is a HUGE plus in my books. Whenever the air conditioning be like not working I get large sad b/c I need that cool O², you feel me mulatto? As for respect to my man Martin Luther KJr, lacking would be an understatement! I didnt see a SINGLE picture of my brother MLKJ. Gonna have to dock a star for the lack of honor towards civil rights activists. On the other hand, I think Paul Blart was the owner, thats pretty wack. The last dude I think would run a museum is Professor Blart. But hey, its not worth crying over right? I think I heard a fish.

Having grown up coming to Destin several times a summer, I rea enjoyed visiting the Museum. When I first started going to Destin in the late fiftys, it was, in fact, a sleeply little fishing village. What it has evolved to doesnt please me a lot, however, your museum brings back pleasant and cherished memories. Thanks
