After reading the reviews, I was hesitate to book. However, I found it to be a very enjoyable course with fast greens. You do not want to get into the desert area as you will lose your ball. Shawna, from the beverage cart, really knows how to make a great Bloody Mary and is so pleasant. All the staff seemed to enjoy their jobs and were really nice to interact with. We will be back to play this course again.

I played a couple of weeks ago here on a very windy, gloomy day, and the course was under manicured. The group spent most the day chasing their ball all over the course. With two more weeks passing since last playing, Desert Dunes was not my course of choice this weekend. However, today the course offered, lush turfs, rolling hills, tightly knitted greens, with dry summer breezes.Often looking for my ball through the day, no fault of the course or those breezes. It was just nice to be engulfed by the Coachella Valley desert landscape.

Its been many, many years since Ive played Desert Dunes and I was really excited to get back there as it was a top quality, highly rated, challenging layout. Unfortunately, the decade(s) long golf slowdown, covid19, local competition, etc... may spell the demise for Desert Dunes. The challenging layout and greens were still in play, as was a great greens fee, but the course needs love and more players which might be a catch 22. Without the love the players wont come, and without the players, how can ownership give the course the maintenance it deserves? Im hoping that the arbitrary regulations imposed on small businesses end soon so that a beautiful facility can rebound. I may have met ownership and he seemed like a great guy who wants the best for a once proud golf course. Go play there, have fun, see the positives the course still has. The greens were better at Desert Dunes than another resort course I played the following day. Fingers crossed.

This is not a place you want to golf. Too many fantastic courses nearby. Desert Dunes used to be one of my favorites. Unfortunately, the owners stopped investing in the course and the greens and fairways have deteriorated significantly. So sad.

Good course to play in season, summer is gets a bit too dried out. Tough conditions when windy. Greens are usually nice.

Desert Dunes is a good course IF the wind is not blowing. It is in decent shape with the greens being the best part.

Golfed a few weekends here. Despite the mild winds the course was nice for the low cost to play. One thing quite disturbing was I noticed the beverage girl by the name of shawndra took cash from her customer and stash it in her pocket. I told one of the cart barn fellas they need to keep an eye on her. I left the course feeling unsettled about the poor management over the beverage cart staff. Off to another course!

Really nice layout for the price. Good variety of holes and even a few with great views of San Jacinto. The fairways and greens are in decent shape but outside of that the course is definitely a bit rough. For the price though, its a nice little course. Check weather reports beforehand though as it can get real windy.

To entice more flow the should be keep up better. Tee boxes were in bad shape, grass growing through sand traps. Its very difficult already to play with wind but the course conditions hurts more!

Very challenging course carved through the desert landscape. No houses, just nature and wildlife. Nothing overstated or tricked up. Each hole plays in harmony with the terrain. It’s a challenge and probably impossible in the wind! It sticks with you and makes you want to return. Strongly recommended.

I heard the course was still open when all other courses were shut down by the Governors mandate to limit non-essential contact. So, I thought, hey - if open, Id play but when I called, they are clearly IGNORING ALL recommendations and even pairing people together on a cart. NO CARE WHATSOEVER regarding the health situation that is plaguing this nation. When asked about the individual carts, they said there would be an extra charge! Can you believe this? Its organizations like this that are helping to spread the virus. BE CAREFUL with this club as they probably dont clean anything either considering its clear they dont care about your health!

Very nice RTJJ layout with challenging fairways. Turf conditions needs work. Greens spotty, but fast. Unfortunately, it seems none of the players are capable of repairing ball marks. Nice bunkering, but they need a lot of work as they seem to be mostly concrete sand with lot of pebbles and have never been turned over. This is a course you need to play more than once to know your way around it. Nice clubhouse. Rated 3 stars just based on condition. Definitely would play again.

I play golf all over and when a Website says open until a certain time you would think that is true. NOT HERE!! Waited at the gate for 30min thinking someone has to answer the phone or something. I got nothing. Wasted my time and gas money thinking this would be a good place to practice. I was wrong. For any golfer, I wouldnt waste your time going. They say the number you can text or call 24/7 with a response, Thats false to. You just remain on hold forever and you never get a text back.... PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME, THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR TIME. THEY JUST WANT MONEY AND THATS SAD FOR A REAL GOLFER WHO LOVES THE SPORT. CIMARRON HERE I COME...

GM Jose has forever turned me off this course. He is an arrogant and condescending person and is certainly not in a position to be so, as this is certainly not a top tier course for the area. I wanted to offer feedback that it would be helpful if his staff knew as soon as a tournament was booked, thereby blocking out the day, then even folks trying to do advance planning outside the tee time window could plan accordingly. He proceeded to, rather than hear the problem, adopt a completely defensive and confrontational attitude, and lectured me on how tournaments can be booked as little as two weeks in advance, closing a course for the day. I have participated in the advance planning of multiple tournaments, and know that they are pretty much ALWAYS booked months in advance, and a good course will communicate that to their staff, and customers who are inquiring about future dates. I finally hung up when it was evident that all he wanted to do was prove me wrong, and prove himself right.

The good is the course. Its in challenging and in decent conditions. Bunkers could use a little work. The bad is the clubhouse and the lack of staff in the clubhouse. Very dated and kind of bare. Resturant was closed (on a Sunday late morning), almost nothing for sale in proshop. think they are going in receivership. Anyway, you can normally find a great price for the golf. Can get very windy here so check the weather. If its too windy its not very fun to play (gets to like a 4 club wind).

Desert Dunes Golf Club rated 4-1/2 stars: Just two miles off Interstate 10, as you head-up towards Desert Hot Springs, youll find one of the best of the Coachella Valleys lesser known gems. With the imposing Big Bear and San Jacinto mountains looking down on the course, Desert Dunes is an excellent Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, imbued with a wonderful, open linksy character. As authentic a British links style course as youll find anywhere in the American Southwest - definitely worth a visit.

Very disappointed in our 18 hole golf game. After 9 holes the second cart in our group was dying so we had to get pushed. They said when we started at hole 10, they would bring us another cart within 3 holes and we never did get one so had to be pushed until finished 18. There was no offering of giving us any compensation for the huge inconvenience and disappointing golf experience. Never again. Looked like finances are lacking at this course. This is prime time and they had very little inventory.
