Nice place in the middle of town. I am guessing the amphitheater has some great shows. Some nice little fishing and picnic areas all around. Would be a great place to take the kids for lunch and some adventures. There is a public restroom and drinking fountains, but would bring your own just in case. Will be back.

Des Moines Waterworks Park and Grays Lake are now connected by a tunnel underneath Fleur Drive. Together these parks are quite simply the show stopping gems in the crown of the Des Moines Park system! You owe it to yourself, your friends, and your family to come out and experience all of the incredible improvements. You will not be disappointed!

Excellent property nearby lake. Very attractive place for taking selfies spending time with your friends and family, picnic and concerts. I was there with my own family, although there is still construction finishings there. The land looks excellent overall, especially in spring when the trees are multicolored in flowers. My 11 year old daughter and myself just completed a 5K at Water Works Park, they done some upgrades and it looks amazing. I was so happy to see the amphitheater it looks awesome. The walking trail that we used for the 5K was free of any trash or debris, its a very nice nature walking area we had a great time!

We had a wonderful time at Water Works Park! There are lots of fun trails to hike on, and lots of paved bike paths too. We had our 4 and 2 yr olds with us and they loved exploring. We participated in the Eggstraordinary clean up event, and found several stunning glass eggs. Go like the water works park facebook page so you dont miss out on next years glass egg hunt!

I come here all of the time when the weather is nice. Its perfect for biking and walking. Ive only fished here once and didnt catch anything, so I cant really say how good it is for fish. Its also great for picnics and family get togethers and there is a covered shelter that can be used.My favorite part is the very back loop (about a mile and a half around) that is leash free for dogs. I take my dog back there biking a lot, or just to let her run and it is her absolute favorite place!!The only bad thing about this park is that cars are able to drive where you are biking/walking, and a lot if times people are driving entirely too fast. Especially when I have my kids with me. A lot of people go to the back loop to sit in their car and smoke weed too, so I wish that was better patrolled.

En
Review №43

Nice, well kept park. I like the gated loop section on the far west the best. There are two old stone chimneys that give a nice backdrop for pictures. It also has access to a rail road over the Des Moines River and to its banks for fishing as long as the river is low.

I grew up near Water Works Park and spent many hours/days exploring the great outdoors here. Even now, every visit to this huge natural space in the heart of Des Moines is like coming home. There are vast open areas for kids to run and play in, woods to explore, and several lagoons for fishing. Theres a picnic area and wildlife to share with your family. And someday soon, Water Works Park will even offer a concert venue. Its worth a visit. Take a loaf of bread and let the kids feed the geese.

Great city park, nice day for a walk in the fog. Quiet and tranquil. Hope they keep it that way. Grays lake is nice and needed. But its also very busy, so you can go west across the street for peace and quiet. Best of both worlds right across from each other. Nice.
