Im happy to support local historic sites and businesses. They did try to make something fun for December Delights, but its pretty lame. The scavenger hunt clues were very easy and take you too large mason jars with unknown items in them and a stamp pad. It was too cold to use them (40F). The lights were cool. The do have a bar outside and some food inside. The craft was to make a crown. The one video game senses your motion to catch falling items and is projected on a building wall. The ice skating is a slick plastic surface (not ice) is not worth the $5 extra. I couldnt even get enough momentum to glide. Its probably more exciting for kids under 10.

Getting the docent tour was definitely worth our wait. She shared a lot of great information about the property and those that lived here. If you dont have the opportunity for a docent lead tour of the main building you can catch some great information from the video playing in the visitors center. My 11yo enjoyed seeing a historical how. With all the details and mining for some gold.

Went for the harvest festival and paid the entrance fee. Once I got there I realized that there is nothing to do unless you want to spend more money. All of the reinactments were not taking place and there was no music. You pay to get in so that they can just sell you more. Kind of like buying a magazine that is just full of advertising for more things to buy. Im on disability and rarely get to go places because I cant afford it. So, I spent money on handicapped transportation to get there and the purchase of the ticket to find out that all of the things I read were happening were not actually happening. Really upsetting day! Will not be back or recommend.

I had to go here for a college class one time and fell in love with it. I think it’s a great place for all ages and especially during these times it’s open air which is great. I think it’s a great place for dates, history buffs, and kids. They do have a free day once or twice a month which is great, I love Free Things todo in Denver.

This is a beautiful place. Takes you back to the 19th century. Make sure you take the walking tour. We went to the 4-mile house with our friendly guide, Laura, who was a fountain of knowledge. My boyfriend and I are history buffs, so we naturally asked a lot of questions and Laura was patient with us and answered all our questions. The items in the house are wonderful. I definitely recommend the tour because you will never get a chance to see the awesome stove they used in the 1890s along with the kettle that weighs a ton! Apart from the four mile house, we also saw the root cellar, blacksmiths shop, the barn with the horses, sheep and chicken. You will see bunnies and rabbits roaming freely everywhere in and around the area. It is great for families with children and adults alike! The staff are very friendly and were always happy to be of any assistance. We were lucky to see some re-enactment of Civil war on the premises. I recommend this place to both citizens of Denver and to tourists - it is a wonderful slice of history, very carefully preserved by some wonderful people that is a must-visit.

The kids had a blast! We got there just in time to tour the inside of the Victorian house. It was hard for the kids not to touch everything. But they still had such a great time. We were able to explore the property after the tour, fed the chickens, who were inside so kind of hard. But that was on us, the weather was cooler out. They visited the goats and horses, rang the big bell. Just had fun exploring. They have picnic tables for folks to bring their lunch. The ladies at the counter were super nice and engaging, the tour guide was as nice as it appears she could be. But still had fun.

Summer Concerts at Four Mile Historic Park are marvelous. I saw “Take Down the Door”, an Irish group and had a wonderful time: outdoor picnic dinner, grassy lawn, good sound, not too crowded. A big parking lot but when that is full you have to park on the street and for some reason the city has “no parking” signs up... just wish the city could allow parking close by

Started the morning out with a tour of the Four Mile Historic Park before taking a walking tour of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Landis, our tour guide, did a great job of helping us re-live the lives of the families that first settled the Cherry Creek area. If you are looking to get an overview of the history of Denver, make this one of your first stops of the day and then work your way over to the Molly Brown House for other options!

They also have live animals they care for too so you can feed them if you want.I recommend having your kids do the farm chores. Give them the gift of gratefulness.

The staff was VERY friendly and good with the kids that were there! There were multiple schools but they treated all of the groups with care and great attention. If you want to go back in time to a place that sits alongside the creek. There was a small bar in the main house for travelers to take a break from the heat of the day and enjoy the cool shade. I would suggest the tour because they really help envision how life was here when Denver was in its infancy. Long before air-conditioning and indoor plumbing. We went on a hot day so when you step down into a cellar you can really feel the difference in temperature.

S
Review №69

Really neat experience. Lost a star as horse handlers left loose of the draft horses (two of them, hitched together, 2,000 lbs a piece, not hitched to the wagon) and they barreled down the path toward all of the school groups. It was fortunate that there were no people on the path or this might be a different sort of review - those horses were not listening or stopping. Otherwise it was a great experience. My one issue (other than stampeding horse teams) was that there were multiple school groups including our own, and the lunch/picnic area only had three picnic tables, leaving a handful of kids at tables and the remainder sitting on logs at the perimeter.

Just went this weekend to Kidtopia and volunteers/event was unorganized we got there at 10:45 and activities were already running low or out of material. We made line for so many stations just to be told they are out of material and that they were trying to get more. I remember reading that tickets were limited so they must have an idea of how many guest are coming to have enough supplies. Once u do go to a station some volunteers dont instruct you on what to do. I had to ask for help in making the slime . Volunteer put down his beer and then decided to tell me how to make it.
