The best fun my friends and I have had going out in a while! This place is the perfect combination of adult and family fun. 6$ entry fee and ALL GAMES ARE FREE TO PLAY. Kids are welcome to come enjoy the vintage themed arcade until 9pm. That is perfect for parents with kids that still want to hangout at a bar but cant leave the kids at home. After 9 the vibe definitely changes to more of the bar type when everyone is having rowdy fun. The staff here is wonderful and they have a large selection of beers and ciders! Ask one of the bar tenders what they recommend and let them know what you think! There are games galore and cool pinball machines. Music was on point! The environment is really friendly and you end up playing a few games with strangers and friends, then end up playing some solo games for a while. I highly recommend this place!

I love coming here and recommend it to all of my friends. The beer selection is great and the staff are always so friendly. If you dont drink alcohol or bring kids they also have a great soda collection. Games are cycled pretty frequently so its always refreshing each time you go. They recently added a dual screen setup for Killer Queen which is a blast to play with friends.

Had an awesome time here at their Valentines event!! It was our first time going and we were so happy with the wide range of games to play. Neither of us drink so I was a little worried, but this place can definitely stand on its own as an arcade if thats your speed!! Really excited to go back again soon.

They keep the tunes rockin and the drinks lined up. The games are a great way to enjoy a nostalgic night out. Plus after a $6 cover you will find most of them are free and the ones that are not are 25c. I was happy to see that the games were clean and worked well. As far as the bar goes it seems nice. I had one drink and then began enjoying my games. It was a great way to kill 2 hours in what felt like 15 minutes.

They have an amazing rotating selection of drinks and games! My favorite is Initial D (WHICH THEY ACTUALLY SELL THE CARDS FOR). The staff is always friendly and attentive. Its a very laid back atmosphere that can get a little crowded, but Ive never felt uncomfortable or cramped by any means.

Smaller than the other locations, but makes us for it. Wide selection of beer on tap, all rare games and classics. Has a cool mural on the outside with a diffrent feel. Calm and relaxed when we went in on a Sunday night.

Pretty fun place! Went here with my bf and a couple of friends. We played for about an hour. There was free parking luckily. Lots of pinball games. Lots of old school fun games! Had a nice little bar area to drink. Kind of loud inside and smells like feet and sweat but still a nice hangout for a nice meet up.

The Denton location is smaller than others but its no less fun. They still have plenty of games and quite the variety of beer. If you are taking kids, make sure you look at the times for no under 18/21 age restrictions.

I’ve been going to Free Play Denton ever since they opened, and can safely say it’s easily the best hangout spot in Denton, period. Staff is always super courteous, they have an insane drink selection, and all of their authentic arcade games are well maintained. Revisiting Crazy Taxi in it’s arcade glory and in this condition is a rarity and should be praised.Also, I love what they have done recently with the fighting games, the head to head experience elevates my Street Fighter 2 gameplay to a new level.

We were in town visiting relatives, and were looking for a fun activity for the adults, while we had someone to watch out kids. We loved it! Affordable, and super fun! We stayed for about 2 hours, and could have stayed another hour at least without it getting bored of it.

The place is well suited for both grown-ups and kids and everyone there abides by the unspoken rule of checking behind to see if anyone is waiting before pressing Start again. If youre looking for a great way to pass some time on your own, or hang out with friends, this is an excellent place to spend the afternoon. Pro tip: grab some incredible ramen at Hanabi next store so youre not gaming on an empty stomach.

Such a throwback and so many games I grew up playing in one building. It seems small on the outside but on the inside they make great use of their space and it seems so much bigger. 30+ games, great drink selection, great place for a date if it’s something you both enjoy doing

I love this location! The staff is so welcoming! The beer selection always amazing! The game lineup hits all the feels from childhood arcades. I’m a huge fan of Super Street Fighter II Turbo and for the longest time only Richardson and Arlington offered head to head setups with the highest quality Sanwa sticks and buttons in Japanese candy cabinets. Denton finally now offers the same quality in head to head style!!! Saturday nights the competition really steps up! One of the best Zangief players in the US works and plays at this location. Maybe you too can be lucky enough to take him on. No matter your skill level regulars are always eager to share gaming knowledge to grow the community and raise the bar on competition. Free Play has an incredible community of gamers and I’m honored to share my experiences. Amazing fun! Excellent value! And top quality!

Love the games, like the beer. The people here are really nice, and let me sample what they had, and had a bunch of the games I use to play when I was a kid. The beer isnt half bad, had a few sweet flavors too. Like this place a lot!

Omg this place is awesome! Pinball machines are my favorites but they have a lot of other cool retro games as well. The only downside is its kinda small and gets crowded quickly, but if we all keep going maybe they can expand someday ;)

Home of the 2 best games Ive ever pumped quarters into over a quarter century ago: Super Street Fighter II Turbo (especially in the H2H configuration) and Addams Family pinball. Love this place & the gaming community that has sprung up around it.The staff has been very gracious & pleasant. Emily is a fantastic liaison/host to the community.Theyve got a wide variety of beer selections.The only downside is the parking. Its packed routinely. (ProTip: park in the court parking lot across the street, just not overnight)

Great beer selection and a ton of old school games in a clean environment with a very friendly staff. I went there with a bunch of pre-teen boys for my sons birthday party in the afternoon, but I bet its just as fun in the evenings when its adults only.

Buy a free play shirt and Mon nights you get in for $1. I cant say enough about how awesome this place is. I wouldnt recommend for children though. Staff very knowledgeable about beer selections. Great TX/ local brews on tap.

Was very surprised at the excellent choice of beers on tap, place is very clean and dont forget to go around the corner! There is another room in the back with several more pinball and arcade machines that you dont want to miss. I was there for a couple of hours and look forward to coming back to town to play again!

Free play is by far the best arcade over ever been to. And Im an 80s baby were thelast generation to play them in that fashion. Cheap games, great drinks.

This place is going to be amazing in a few years. Right now, they are just great. They have a ton of games you can play, and I hear they try to rotate them out. Also, you dont have to fill your pockets with quarters; the entrance fee covers it all! What it needs is what the Arlington location has: dining and drinks. They have beers and wine, but no mixed drinks. They let you leave and come back, which is nice because they dont offer food. Even some pre-packaged chips would be nice. The staff is very kind and their beer selection is pretty good for their size. I cant wait to see them grow!

This place is Awesome! My husband and I just moved up to Denton a month ago. We went exploring around the square and came up upon this place. You just pay money for a wristband and get unlimited play with all the retro games. They also have a good selection of drinks as well :)

More than affordable fee to get in. Beers were reasonably priced with a great selection. The staff was helpful and fast. A ton of awesome games! The only negative is the space is much too small. When it gets crowded, it gets uncomfortable and hot. Next time I will not go during peak hours. I had a lot of fun though. Thank you!

Levi was super chill and fun to talk to! We had a great time chatting and talking about random things like our cats. Also Levi was super knowledgeable about the beers on tap. He helped me explore and try different beers. He was easily my favorite part of the night.The atmosphere was so friendly. You can play 2 player games with strangers and irs not awkward. Its so nice not to have to ration out coins at this arcade. It allows my to enjoy the games and not think about budgeting. Now my #1 favorite place in Denton.

Free play arcade has great games, a nice atmosphere, and is perfectly placed on a street with many different food options so you can play, leave, eat, then come back without extra pay because of the bracelet youre given. Overall great arcade.

For $5 entry fee, I definitely would be returning. I also recommend this place for Kids and Adults! This place is clean and the staff is friendly, helpful and professional. The games are a little old fashion; but, who gets tried of them! Brought back the childhood playing my children. GREAT place! Very affordable.

Free Play Denton is AWESOME! My husband and I took our 10 year old son Sunday afternoon and had a blast. The game selection is good, and we all loved playing pinball. I think I played the Twilight Zone pinball game for an hour! Showing our son our games when we were teenagers was fun - he loved Tempest and Mortal Kombat so much. Tons of craft beer options to choose from, too. We had a wonderful time - go check it out!

Theres a plethera of games and its incredibly cheap. They do a good job of fixing games quickly as well when they can. They have TVs with sports and streams on as well behind their bar. Speaking of bar, hope you like craft beer. Theres a great selection and I do not drink.The only two knocks I give the place are the size and temperature. The place is busy because of the price and the games. The room is barely large enough to have the arcade cabinets they have and then you fit large adults having fun in that space and it gets cramped. Expect to be bumped. Also, the heat is amazing. Even in the winter, the temperature in the rooms have to be close to 80°F. However, the back room is cooler than the front .Also, theres a backroom. Dont forget to check it out as it has games and plenty of pinball including the awesome star wars one. Overall, cant beat the price, just come prepared with a water bottle.

They have a great selection of vintage video games ranging from pacman to street fighter to mario. I love coming here om a saturday night but it can get a bit crowded. The beer selection is good but the jello shots tasted gross even though they were only 10% alcohol.

Okay for what it is. A good draft beer selection and good selection of retro games to play unlimited for a small fee, I think I paid $5.The place is smaller than I expected and not cozy at all. If you arent playing games you probably wont enjoy hanging out.

I was here for a work event and I was pleasantly surprised with a young bartender that was knowledgeable about the IPAs on tap. This was really great because the bartender I talked to before actually told me she hadnt tried any of the 3 beers I asked about. Lovely staff but the space could definitely be bigger!

Wish there was tickets or points to get free drinks lol. It was a bit plain and smelled strong like bleach. With friends its a good place but it might get boring fast by yourself.

Just had one hell of an afternoon with my son there. Playing all the games from my youth with him was amazing. And no quarters needed. Best bang for your buck in Denton. Tons of brews available on tap. Funny thing though, those games still whipped me. Will definitely be back soon!

This is a one of a kind arcade venue. Visiting this place sends me back to my childhood as I would play a majority of these arcade games. the games are frequently rotated and new games are brought in so that youre not playing the same game over and over every time you visit. The bar has several different types of great beer on tap.

Awesome place for beers and games. I’m not much of a beer guy, but they had 3-4 different ciders that I could choose from (more than most places!). Awesome selection of games, decent mix of retro, pinball, and some modern. More retro than modern, which is my preference but still good to note. Not a lot of driving games, good mix of shooters/Classic/fighters.$10 for unlimited games and a pint of hard cider = I’m coming back here every time I’m in the area!

The perfect entertainment addition to little D. While not as big as its Arlington and Richardson counterparts, the Free Play team did an outstanding job with the small space they were given, and made an arcade that feels like something straight out of 1983. The extensive beer list on the gorgeous HD displays is a nice touch, with this location leaning more towards the growler crowd. Will definitely swing by anytime that Im in town.

So disappointed this place lost our familys business before we even got in to play. We checked the website for hours and planned our family day with the kids around the posted hours. We arrived at 11:10am (sunday) with opening time listed at 11am. We could see 2 employees inside cleaning while the line queued up outside. One employee kept glaring at us and cleaned the same counter 4 times right by the front as if to tell us she sees us and it doesnt change anything. Finally she came toward the door and as we tried to ask her through the glass door about the discrepancy with posted hours, she sprayed aerosol cleaner on the glass at our face level and then walked away without wiping it or cleaning it. As she cleaned the counter by the front for the 5th time we knocked on the glass and put our phone against the window showing July hours for the denton location. You could see the panic flash on her face for just a moment before she cracked the door and said we must be looking at another locations hours. With denton clearly on the page, she said Ill let corporate know about their mistake and pulled the door closed, locked it and walked away. The families in line with us said so a hard no then? Lol. Everyone left and we certainly wont be back. Headed to Andy Bs. Theyre happy to take our money.
