The Rec is always clean and the equipment is nice. The only drawback is the limited number of basketball courts. A school of UNT’s size should have more than 3 inside courts.

I was playing a game of 5v5 on the main court when someone blocked this other player. I had never met this man but he instantly started talking reckless towards the other man. The situation escalated and he ended up throwing a punch towards the guy who “fouled him” and they fought. On-lookers eventually called the police and they had to descalate the altercation. WORST EXPERIENCE AT UNT REC CENTER. NEVER GOING BACK. HOOPERS IN CONVERSE.

I work out here on a regular basis. This is not just a gymnasium, but a full fledged recreation center that rivals all commercial gyms! I was in awe of the number of workout machines present. It has never been overcrowded while I have been there, and it is state of the art and clean.

Many machines to use. I would say over 100. They have a track on the second story to run indoors, 3 basketball courts, and an indoor soccer gym. They also have a pool for swimming and a rock wall for climbing. Fun fact, a good majority of the energy you use on the treadmills and elypticls, helps power the place!

UNTs state of the art gym! Unlike other buildings like Wooten Hall and a dozen more which are crumbling and have restrooms found in gas stations, UNT has a good gym, nice student center and of course a useless stadium for football.

My only complaint about this place are the hours. Pohl opening at 6 on the weekdays is great because I can get a workout in early, but it doesn’t open till 10 on Saturdays and till noon on Sundays. They’re stickler about it, too. I once got to the rec at 9:55 on a Saturday and they wouldn’t let me swipe my card until 10 on the dot.

This is a very big gym with a lot of options on machines. It also has a full rock climbing station, an indoor and outdoor basketball court, tennis areas, volly ball, a full pool with a lazy River, whirlpool, and hot tub, an uptairs track, and much more. This gym is usually pretty busy, make sure you where closed toe shoes or else you will get kicked out.

The gym is what you would expect. A lot of room is used for bench presses and this is somewhat disportioncate. The clip on handle bars over by the lap pull down tend to get mixed around. Having a place for people to put them would help. I wish they would open earlier on the weekends.

Really lovely gym with plenty of equipment and a great atmosphere. The pools are pristine clean and its apparent that they manage the chemicals quite well. I used to be a lifeguard, so Ive been in quite a number of pools where the chemicals were too strong. Once it got so bad that we had kids crying due to the pain in their eyes, and the lifeguards werent much better off. I never feel like that at the pools here. My only wish is that the pools were open longer. It stays open until 10, which is usually when I get off of work. The rest of the gym is accessible, but water workouts are really where I fare best since I have a muscular issue. I wish that at least the leisure pool was open til midnight.

Pros: Variety of machines, including cablrsIndoor track&poolLots of spacePlenty of free-weightsPlenty of dedicated powerlifting spotsRock wall for unconventional trainingCons: No powerlifting platforms (no olympic lifts)Squat racks use octogonal weights instead of circular ones, making deadlifts akward for long setsRock wall costs extraNo chalk allowed in facilityShoes required for all liftsClips must be on for all lifts, regardless of weightOverall: Good, but geared towards non-professionals/people who are more casual about weightlifting. For powerlifters, I would recommend elsewhere.

Pohl is a great gym, it has more equipment than most private gyms but that comes at a price. Usually very busy except on weekends, early mornings, and late at night. If you attend UNT, you might as well make use of it because you’re paying for it either way.

Awesome facility that has a nice variety of activities. They often have free events like free rock wall climbing during the first few weeks of the semester. They also host things like ladies night at the rock wall where its free to climb. They even let you try out activities for free (like yoga sessions) during the first month. If you want to bring a friend that isnt a UNT student i believe its only $5. Free daily lockers of various sizes are available next to the locker rooms. Overall the facilities are kept very clean and the employees are friendly.

I frequently visit this place, mostly to play basketball.
