We got this placed mixed up with Lot #1 in Plymouth. We drove an hour to get to Durham and the house was not open due to COVID. So we had no clue about the history of this home. My husband and I snapped plenty of pictures and hopped back on the road. Curious about the history and significance of the home. The house was a flashback of the past. Was set in the midst of a nice neighborhood. Near a school and had a playground across the street. Was an interesting find.

We found out years ago while researching our family tree that my husbands 12xs great grandparents had this house built and it has been on our bucket list. We finally got there and LOVED it. So much history packed into one home. My kids 5-10, my husband, our friend and myself all found it to be so interesting weve been talking about it ever since we left. The docent was very knowledgeable and a wonderful conversationalist. We even got to meet the curator and speak briefly with him, this was a treat.

This was such a fun place to visit! The curator was great to listen to, he mixed his knowledge with humor and could answer any question we asked. The Fairbanks house has a ton of history and most everything there was original to the home! We were staying at a house nearby for a wedding and just happened to read about the house and decided to go on our way out. So glad we did!

This is allegedly the oldest wooden structure still standing in America. Its quite an amazing place to visit if youre interested in American history. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable of the homes history and the familys history. Just being inside and able to feel such an old home was quite special to me as I love this stuff. If youre not interested in history you wouldnt really enjoy the Fairbanks house. I highly recomend this place, particularly if you love American history. Its quite a unique and special place, with an incredible story.

AMAZING tour from Sharon. Tons of history to see here, not just Fairbanks history, but American history too. Very well maintained house that spans generations back to the founding of Dedham. You can see and hear about what life was like from 1636 all the way up to 1904 with the Fairbanks family home. Definitely worth a visit!

As a 12th Great Grandson of Grace & Jonathan Fairbanks. It was fascinating to hear the stories of my ancestors. As you walk through the door, you step back in time to see how the Fairbanks lived and grew. Its absolutely beautiful.

The Fairbanks House in Dedham is a marvel of survival: a house built in 1636, and largely intact almost 400 years later. Perhaps more astounding is the fact that it is still owned by the Fairbanks family. Thanks to Daniel Neff for a fascinating tour and for letting us peek into spaces not usually permitted to the public.
