Ive been with hype since it was a basketball league at the civic center and it has grown into a wonderful community. I love that they offer a womens gym that caters to women of all fitness levels. Usually all women gyms have only cardio machines and a few light weights, but Hype listens to what their members want and delivers. They just renovated and during construction a staff member, and the personal trainers, were asking the regulars what they would like in the expansion.The only down side is that almost no one re-racks their weights! Staff members have been good about organizing the workout areas throughout the day, but what is so hard about re-racking your own weights?!Both pictures are in the womens side (taken when it was empty because there is a no picture/video taking policy in the womens section for privacy reasons.)

Very bad customer service. Ali faraj’s priority is money. He does not care about the customers. He doesn’t know what he’s doing or what he is saying. He just charging people extra. I Do not recommend this place at all. I will never come back here.

Love this place ,blessed to have them in our community for all the beautiful things they do to help in all aspects.

It is a nice place in general, looks good especially for the green area around it.. but I never like the customer service they offer.I imagine that in few years this will change since it is still a new place in the area.I joined them right after they opened back in 2012 . But when I became pregnant I quit.When I came back they wanted me to sign up with new contract and follow new regulations.I think that wasnt fair.There should be rules for such circumstances .

Every time you try to cancel your membership they make up new Excuses and make you sign up again and take off money of your credit for no reason and when you come up to talk to them the employees are very ruddddddde and unprofessional

This is a great gym, especially after all the expanding. The staff is super nice and helpful. My clumsy self dropped my phone inside the stair master (dont ask me how). Luckily I went to the front desk and Jackie was there. Shes the best without hesitation she came upstairs to help me get my phone. Thank you so much Jackie, youre a life saver!!

Germs, bacteria, and viruses can easily spread in damp environments, so cleanliness is an important factor to consider when working out. Many gyms provide wipes and surface cleaners for people to use before and after the workout. Was amazed when walking in to this faculty how their own staff members themselves were the ones sanitizing and make sure the facility is maintained.

They steal money off your credit cards and charge double ,and your child cant even bring a guest . If hes a member not even for a 10 dollar charge,unless your 18 then you have guest. Some of the staff members are cool They charge a fee if its not paid on the date you signed up for just to warn yall.

Super greedy! Always wanting more and more money. These people have the guts to send everyone an email asking for donations because theyre too cheap to keep the place running... especially during a time like this!! Shame, shame!! You should feel embarrassed! I will never support this business, ever.They took all my money when i wanted to end the membership before the contract. And they did that to a lot of people. And now theyre out here asking for money. How bout u use all that money u took from us to keep the facility running... instead of being humbled to ask for donations!!!! I honestly cannot believe that a big company like this wants donations.

Its alright, could have a lot more potential. But I feel like the womens gym isnt cared for much. The machines take ages to get fixed. Theyre older, and dont give it newer machines like the ones in the coed gym. Also the showers are not even in the same area....which Im not sure who decided to do that. Very inconvenient for Muslim women.Over priced for a basic gym. The only thing keeping me there is the women only part. Otherwise when another opportunity comes through, Im out. Works for now I guess.

Just got a membership at hype and let me tell you Fadia is amazing ! She is so friendly, intelligent and respectful. She took her time to explain the different types of memberships that would be best for my son and I. Love her !

I honestly dont understand how some of these reviews are negative about the staff ive been here long enough and the employees have the best service not once did i ever experience anything unpleasant the gym is nice and its inexpensive. The womens gym could use an update but overall its a good gym.

I went into hype today and Anthony helped me at the front desk. He was really kind and understanding with my questions. I appreciate him very much.

The staff are unprofessionals and racist. The black colored staff ly to you if you are white color about any info while signing up therefore i signed up by given the wrong info by a black staff and when my membership ended they kept withdrawing money from my account with out my authorization which they never reimbursed me on. Any mistake by them related to money which you realise of and you call in to question the matter then all the extensions refer you to the same man which right there He reads you their true policy of the membership by then would be too late to be reimbursed. Its like a mob, setting up their own phony system just to rob members

I mainly come to this HYPE location to play basketball and workout. My problem is when i go to play basketball the courts are never clean. ALWAYS DUSTY. It makes you not want to play basketball because youre electric sliding everywhere. The parents that have kids in leagues that play here should complain so they can get a better cleaning crew or something. Its terrible...just go to the Wayne location.

My family is new to Hype and I put my child in the winter league. I have noticed there is a lot of favoritism and the newer players aren’t given the attention and coaching that the that the players that have been there longer are given. I think that is completely unfair and doesn’t give the newer kids a chance to make it on the teams. Which is unacceptable everyone pays the same and should be treated the same as well.

Great place, awesome staff, 10/10 would recommend! Moe at the front desk was awesome. He showed me around the entire building with a very thorough tour and got me signed up.

I’ve been going to HYPE for about 6 years now and I would like to say it is a great center that offers the youth a place to have fun, play sports, and do what they enjoy. Staff is great, specifically, Br. Ali Faraj is very helpful. I had an issue at one point and with his expertise it was solved. I encourage everyone to go to HYPE!

They do great things for the community they need more support! Instead of spending money at a for profit gym/business spend it with an organization that helps the community!

The recreation center is awesome! It accommodates kids so well and your membership includes tons of extras! Alia was very helpful and always greets with a smile.

Ali Sayed goes out of his way to make sure every customer is happy. The facility has a professional atmosphere and everyone there are friendly and always greeting you with a positive attitude. They really care about your kids.

Went to cancel my wifes membership and they still charged me for a month of the membership will not be used. BAD business practice.

Amazing customer service and always clean. Workout rooms are spacious and machines are well taken care of and updated! Daycare center is big and well equipped with kid friendly toys and trained staff.

Nice facility for basketball tournaments. Admission was a bit too much at $10- per day for adults but overall the place is okay.

I joined Hype Athletics August 2017. Promotional membership. I love this gym. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I love that they have a private womans area. The workout classes are fun and challenging. I also noticed the cleaning staff keep it very clean. Thank you Hype!

The other day I posted a not so good review on here, that was because I was in my feelings.! Although there a few bumps in the road in the beginning, they did accommodate us, and give us more than ample time; and all of my guests and myself had a great time. The only thing is, that the air was not on in the room. Ali Faruj did call me numerous time to apologize for the misunderstanding.

Love this place with their staff. The problem is when I want to play basketball the courts are always loaded with people because all the other ones are being used for practice and games I think this is stupid because you go to play and there are people that are six Foot and others that are still 7/8 years old. I believe that they need to be divided into age groups. The good thing about this place is they respect you and your needs and provide free tutoring.

I purchased a membership for tutoring every time I go for tutoring tutoring is not available I cancel within the first 30 days and they kept all my money. The Arabic people think they run the place they are racist to Arabic woman pushed past me.

The employees here are garbage. Always on their phones. Not very intelligent. I didn’t get her name but there’s a blonde haired female with these deep eyes, overweight and just straight up nasty. Rude and has no professionalism at all. She was working the desk past the check in counter.

Ive been coming to this gym for about 4 years now. Only reason why Im still here is because they have a private women section.. even though about 2 years ago they said they were going to build a sauna and pool.. which still Im waiting on. Also why do only men get all the new gym equipment and machines while the ladies got all the old used ones?

Place is great! New Gym is awesome and has a lot of nice equipment, they are always cleaning, the employees are always friendly. Billy, Ali Sayed and Ali Faraj are some nice guys. They make you feel at home, I cancelled my other gym memberships, and the Wayne spot is nice also

Best place for training and playing basketball

Love Hype. Been a member and a part of the basketball program for years and its great. Very nice staff and nice facility.They offer all kinds of training, programs and sports for kids and adults. They also have a facility in Wayne with a very nice pool, banquet room, sauna, gym, and of course basketball courts and more. Oh and I cant forget about the good food!

I’ve been to many gyms and this was by far the worst experience of my life. I decided to try out the gym yesterday in the hopes to sign up since my relatives go there. There was woman, who i believe works there that was just sitting down as i was working she yelled across from the other room infront of everyone saying “you cant have this bench in that area and to speak to the front desk if you dont believe me”. If there was an issue and you have not seen me in the gym before, the way to communicate is to approach the person, start with apologizing and that no one may have told me but it is unsafe to have the bench of this side of the green turf. Not only did her calling me out across the gym while shes just sitting, ruin my workout but was very unprofessional. I decided to leave at that point, I actually work at a gym so i know im supposed to put my weights away AS a COURTESY so thats what idid. I went to get dresses and left with my headphones on and she stopped me asking if im done with the bench and asked for me to move it to the same exact spot another woman was using it on. Let you know, it wasnt even on the forbidden green turf, she just wanted it where the person before me was using it. I apologize but i came here to workout and not be disturbed multiple times, that is not how you communicate with people and tell them what to do when it is not in my needs to do so. So not only did she unprofessionally call me out infront of everyone, and catch me after i get dressed for wanting it where the previous women left the bench, as if theres a designated spot and as if i work there. But her and another woman, dark skinned chased me down the stairs, outside, to my car and asked for me to roll my windows down and i said i have work i need to get going, she then asked for my name i gave it and i told her i dont go to this gym, iwas trying it out and i am never coming back or giving my money to this organization that’s unprofessionally ran. She just smiled and said thank you bye. Never in my years have i encountered such unprofessional approach, communication & treatment. Im not sure what the women were named, but neither do i care. They just need to teach them how to communicate and handle situations professionally and kindly.

Staff is rude, most gym equipment is old, and almost anytime I want to play basketball 90% of their courts are being used for their basketball programs.

Im being real people. I joined a few months ago. This place cares about its members and the community. I read some complaints and I fully disagree. Some people cant and wont be happy with policy and structure. Its clean, safe, and has a great gym, track and bball courts. I love hype!

I love the women’s only area great equipment and classes

HYPE Athletics Community and both HYPE Recreation Centers offer individuals as well as families athletics, fitness, education such as tutoring, and social services. I highly recommend it to everyone. I have five (5) children and they participate in the basketball clinics as well as the girls volleyball league in the fall & summer.

The only good thing I can think of for this place is that it has 4 basketball courts. Other than that this place is always packed with unsupervised kids running around. The courts are always taken up by events or even practice. Not always basketball, but SOCCER. On a basketball court that doesnt make sense. The staff usually are on their phones and ignore you. You could easily walk in there without a membership. If this place was managed better then it could be good. But so far its not.

Very disappointed of their customer service, especially the lady at the front desk, was trying to get a membership,I asked for one day pass and she was firm that they don’t give free passes , she made me feel that she is working on commission and all she cared about is to get me hooked up with one year membership. went next day to life time canton and got a great service and a free pass, I am glad I made the right decision and did not join hype.

Worst gym ever owners are crooks, place is dirty, staff is unprofessional. Just a horrible place over all.The only thing Delinquent is your establishment. Funny how I took a tour and you claim I owe you money. This place dont even know who is and isnt a member and who does and doesnt owe them money haha.

I want to explain that there are very few facilities that exist for women to workout in private. Hype is a part of a Muslim community and knows this. Yet, it fails to serve the Muslim women of the community. They fail at providing a quality, clean and respectful place to workout. The womens area is much smaller even though its in high demand. There are only a couple of workout machines available to women. They are put in situations where they have to fight to go on one of the two machines available. Invest in your community, invest in the women in the community. We are paying for this service, not receiving it for free. Do your part. Get more workout machines. I will continue to advise against others joining this gym, and I am so angry at the disrespect my mother has received while going here. The staff is so disrespectful, and the treatment of the women at this facility is a representation of how little this organization values the community at large.

I had a membership at Hype for years. Left and tried other clubs around town. Came back to Hype because it felt like home. Super friendly staff, very well kept facility. Overall my experience is awesome. Ill definitely be staying

Moe on the front desk is the best

Its crazy to think that 2 of the men at the front desk are telling me “I can get you a free week membership if you give us 5 starts on google and leave a comment and say that *there name* deserve raises” it’s pretty weird asking your own visitors/customers that, that is disgusting honestly.

I strongly disagree with their cancellation rules. Got ripped off big time. And the gym always stinks and is very hot and dusty floors when we do the zumba classes. I won’t be coming here again unless I get my refund.

Huge disappointment. They treat their members as second class citizens when a third party rents out the basketball gym. They turn it’s monthly members away from using any of the other available basketball courts. TOTAL BS & the manger showed absolutely no concern whatsoever.

Initially came in as a guest and was surprised at the way the front desk staff spoke to me. I thought that as an individual considering to start a membership there that I would be spoken to respectfully and encouraged to join Hype. Instead, I was practically interrogated as if I was doing something wrong by the individual in charge of introducing people seeking membership. Horrible and rude service and this was only after one day of trying it out. Definitely not moving forward with any kind of membership at this unclean facility. Thankful to have had this experience as I am not going to waste my money on a membership here.

It is a great gym for a family and individuals who want to get back in shape. They are currently expanding the gym area and it has a womens gym as well as a co ed gym.

Great place for the family. Free tutoring, reading and math programs for kids. My wife loves it. Private womens gym and free fitness classes. Very clean.

Ima be honest with my experience, I give it a hot 1/10. I really wasnt happy with my time there. My 1st night there, my 4 year old niece got lost in their daycare center. I found her playing on the guard posts on the 2nd floor, god knows what would have happened had I not spotted her! I didnt get my moneys worth, honestly. I paid $128 then got unfairly kicked out 2 weeks into my membership (without a warning or suspension they just kicked me out & cancelled my membership) & I didnt even get a refund, all I got was a membership cancellation & a have a nice night. Owner hasnt called back which shows he doesnt care, no email no text no nothing but its all good Im not even stressing over it im just glad im out of there lol.Its depressing, feels like a prison. Its super boring. Theres just a weight room, basketball courts & a indoor track, thats it..no racketball no football no pool no sauna no indoor cycling no good customer service...speaking of the employees, they treat you like 2nd class garbage. I should of listened to my friends when they said this place sucked lol.

We went to a graduation party on 6/19/17. There were no working electrical outlets.Seem like if you are renting the place for a party things like that should have been working,or people should have been informed. Not happy.

Definitely a great recreational center with affordable membership services that are mainly for profit. An organization who focuses and cares about the future of the youth by providing innovating ideas to better our communitys youth.

Great for family fun activites

I thought this would be a good local gym! They have many signs up saying WIPE YOUR MACHINE DOWN AFTEE USE, yet many of the patrons men/women leave without doing so! Its very alarming I went in the other day and there were tons of nasty used paper towels laying in the womens area! Yet I watched their cleaning staff standing around laughing joking and gossiping! I wouldnt waste my money or time signing up here! Every weekend they allow the courts to be rented out instead of allowing at least two courts to be free for those who pay monthly like myself! I think its completely unfair that they charge u but half the month they send u letters saying courts are unavailable! Also Ive watched their so called trainers simply be on their phones and not really interact with the person theyre training! Overall pathetic then they trap u into a year membership

My hype athletics experience was the worst. First off the quality of work ethnic by its employees and volunteers was unsatisfying. Secondly the volunteers were disrespectful rude and unsatisfying.The worst part was the service of Volunteer Norman Butler my ex best friend. Hype took a free swim at the recreational center and turned it into a 6 dollar swim

It a great area for exercise. I think its very affordable and helpful
