Dana Point headland.....Well I have lived in the area for over 40 years so Im week qualified to comment. Overall they have done a good job of preserving a small snippet of what was once a natural bit of the southern California coast (to bad they didnt consider that when they built the harbor). There are plenty of carefully constructed trails (stay within the lines) with wonderful views looking North West and South. Spectacular sunsets and whale watching too, theres even a visitor center with (stinky bathrooms) stuffed native wildlife for the kids to see how weve displaced the local fauna with our $10,000,000 lots and beach mansions for the elite. Enjoy the views and fresh air.

Cute place to take a walk. Youll have the ocean breeze, birds chirping away, and the sun on your face. Make sure to bring sand friendly shoes as the entirety of the path is sandy. The only negative is that the path is quite narrow and you have to hug a side to let people pass you; Its a conservation area, so I understand why it cant be wider.

One of the many great places in SoCal to see stunning sunsets. This time of the year all flowers are blooming, creating and incredible sightseeing experience. Bring a light sweater or a jacket because it can get a little bit chilly especially on a windy day.

The views are gorgeous. Its a very easy hike. We were only able to do a small amount of the trail, but what we saw was beautiful. It even says you may be able to spot whales from one area. The trail is wide enough for two people and is fenced off so that you may not explore.

Family and I took the little hike along the shore that has piles of rock along the way there we were able to see crabs, slugs left over lobster tails...as you enter the cave its nice and cool brezz then you walk around going into it more you look out into the ocean as it was coming in a lot and high..my youngest slipped on the rock as the tide came toward us so be careful its slippery.

One of the most accessible, preserved, untouched, ecologically pristine stretches of coastline in all of Orange County! The walks around the headlands are very scenic, during the spring the flowers bloom like crazy, and the gray whales can be seen from the bluffs during their winter migration season. The walks arent at all strenuous, theyre suitable for nearly anyone (even the little kiddies would like it) and well worth your time.

Excellent and well tended trail. Throughout most of the walk you are able to see the Pacific ocean. There are very vocal seal colonies nearby and the occasional seal barks really make it fun for kids. There is a red buoy out there with seals that often rest on it. Not a strenuous hike.

Because its the ocean and its beautiful. If you stand on the pier and look at the hills where all those houses and that restaurant is at, the cement thing that is at the bottom of the hill tells you where the quake fault line isLooking at the hillside from the pier you can totally see it in the rock...one side is gray and the other side is brown...thats a fault lineI think nature is coolI wouldnt wanna be those people who live and work up there

A great hike that connects to a public street with access to the strands beach. We love strolling the paths, sitting on the benches and taking in the views. The path is somewhat narrow so you are having to constantly move around people, but it really depends on the season and time of day. Still the views are amazing and if you hike from here to strands and back its a great exercise path that is sure to burn lots of calories. I highly recommend this for visitors as a free activity, even parking is free in most of the areas to enter (just check the signs). There are bathrooms at the park entrance with a museum shop that is open some times. A public water fountain too, just in case you left you water supply at home.
