This is a pretty great campground. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful. The facilities were very clean and well maintained. Most of the sites are pretty good with hedges separating each spot except for in the middle. Check the satellite view on Google to see. Each site is a little small but worked just fine. The entire beach area is really nice too. Great having multiple access points directly to the beach in the campground. There are also sites directly on the beach but cost about $20 more. There is also drinking water access all over the campground. Never seen anything like it! There are bathrooms and showers (for an extra fee). The picnic tables and green spaces in the park are a must visit! Well done California.

Beach camping is much different with all the sand. After going here for week 2 years in a row I’d say I’m getting not only used to it but kind of hooked. You know that feeling when you’re about to leave to the hotel with all the beach stuff... that doesn’t happen with beach camping. The waves here at Doheny beach are descent to boogie board and better surfing is just a walk north a half a mile.I recommend bringing water shoes if you plan of playing in the waves near the beach since some areas are rocky. There are showers and plenty of bathrooms.Very fun with the family and extended family.

Doheny state beach camping: $40 a night regular, $60 per night for beach front. Its a nice beach, and they have fire rings at each campsite that you can burn wood or coal in. The horrible parts of this great location are the train tracks that run right next to the campground. During the day, commuter trains go by about every 30 minutes. At night those trains stop running... only to be replaced by extremely long freight trains. I thought my chest was going to explode the rumbling was so intense and loud. I couldnt get more than an hour of sleep in a row because this beach is so loud. The waves are some of the loudest crashers Ive ever heard, probably because along the length of the beach they crest and crash in one giant wave. So, either wear really good ear plugs or find another coastal beach camp site thats quieter.

The beach is very steep, rocky and overall hazardous for small kids. I wouldnt camp here, unless you wanna camp in a parking lot that just happens to be close to a beach.

This camping spot is obviously about the beach. So unfortunately, unless you get one of the amazing spots right on the beach, your basically camping in a parking lot with some dirt and a few bushes. Youre very close to your neighbors and have laughable space for tent camping. But if your neighbors are nice and you plan on being at the beach most of the time then this place is great. If you have a camper or RV even better. My friends and I brought our young kids here and they loved it. Though you might want to bring earplugs for the night time because my friends who were in a tent could here our neighbors in their tent just talking. Also the bathrooms were fine. They had real toilets, light at night, no bajillion bugs hanging on the ceiling, mirrors and running water (no soap), so cant complain. Ive experienced a lot worse. They looked like they did get some daily maintenance and cleaning.

Did not camp here - stayed at Doubletree across the highway but this is a beautiful spot to both surf and longboard - freshly paved with awesome exposure to the ocean - not overly crowded and some awesome food trucks at various times - had a great time and met some very good ppl

40 $ a night. No hookups. The passing trains are terrible. Shower with tokens and toilets are available. Right at the beach. Leave until 12:00.

Love beach camping here!! I would give it 5 stars but the rocks on the beach really hurt our feet!! We have nicknamed this beach “lego beach” because your feet will feel like you have been walking on legos! We ran into a local famous skimboarder here... Austin Keen!! Also, try not to get a spot in the back, there’s a train that runs at night and it’s hard to sleep through if you’re in a tent.
