Looking for a spot to learn what Cumberland and the Allegany County area in general area all about? This is the place! Very knowledgeable and kind staff.
Very interesting local museum. Attractive exhibits featuring local businesses and also highlights of the history of the local area. Lots to see here - definitely well worth a visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
This quiant museum posts a great overview of the history of the region, highlighting the beer production, whiskey rebellion, local artists, and the glass and rubber factories that helped the town survive. The loss of the industries is hard to overstate, but it us great seeing the history remembered while the town thrives.
Great place but the staff does not take care of their customer properly
Surprisingly interesting for a small little museum. Had a tour conducted by one of the enthusiastic volunteers that made it just great!
This place was neat we had 3 kids aged 7-13 and they loved it. Joe that works there can tell you everything you want to know about the town.
Im there all the time people are wonderful and gentle and very kind
Enjoyed my visit, had a great time and learned a lot of new things
We were there to dedicate the Arthur and Bernice Friedland Grand Courtroom. Excellent experience.

Places u back in time. Alot of history
A very nice collection of artifacts, from modern times and prehistoric. Ancient arrowheads, glass works, tire manufacturing, breweries, and a great place to learn the history of the area. Very helpful staff.
They had a lot of cool things
Great exhibit of Cumberland history and staff was knowledgeable and friendly...
I learned about the historical businesses in Cumberland. Very nice, free museum!
Small. Not too much to see. The docents will certainly talk your ear off. LOL
Was people watching as the snow fell
Lots of local history items. Not nearly as comprehensive as Allegheny implies. But the price is right!
Cute museum of local Maryland history. Highly recommend for any traveller in the area
Whenever my husband and I travel to Western Maryland to visit friends, we make sure we stop at the Allegany Museum to experience this gem of a museum. With each visit, we learn more of the significance of this area in the State of Maryland and nationwide. The oversight of this museum has been thoroughly and sensitively handled. The exhibits have been keenly developed to demonstrate the importance of Allegany County in the industrial revolution, as well as the crucial part it played in the development of the transportation system and coal industry of the United States. You will find that the Allegany Museum will appeal to both adults and children and you will come away with a fuller understanding and appreciation of this pristine, beautiful mountain area.
One word-Historic
Great building. this is the second event ive been to here, and this time the a/c was working much better than the first time. would book events there again.

Very cool stuff relating to Cumberland history
Bartenders at Chamber event are the best!
Quiet museum with a ton of local Kelly memorabilia.
Had a nice visit. The staff was very friendly
Nice museum exhibits that are well planed and executed.
Great little museum on local history
Very nice place
Terribly small and currently a massive construction maze. It was quite obvious who sponsored this museum. I hated that WAY too much was donated to one company. It shouldnt be called a county museum, instead it should be named after the only company they even acknowledge.
Family outing
I go to school there
This was a really neat place
