An excellent preservation of the headquarters George Washington used inside Fort Cumberland. Previously relocated outside of Cumberland and then reassembled on this site. Even when its not open to the public, theres a historical message one can access and listen to that is very informative about Washingtons visits to the Cumberland area and use of this cabin. Very well done!
This is a historic site. George Washington used this post at the time of war. This is a small lag cabin and you have to make an appointment to see from inside. You can go there in any time 24/7 and watch from outside. There is no parking space in here. You can spend max half an hour over there. Enjoy.
The cabin is an interesting oddity and the historic info trail is neat. Its kind of in an odd location, but has nice views of a nearby spillway. Its a 15 minute stop.
The George Washington Headquarters is an interesting stop along the Cumberland trail. There is a fair amount of information along the way.The headquarters themsleves are rather small and you cant go inside to see what it may have been like to live back then and I couldnt get the audio to work to explain his story, though it worked a bit for someone else when Id gone on to see another part of the trail. Its worth stopping as you walk the trail through the history of Cumberland and learn about the C&O canal and trains, the role Cumberland played in history and just get some excercise while taking in some beautiful and intersting sites and knowlwdge.
Fascinating look at the quarters occupied by George Washington while he was stationed here. The building has been lovingly restored and there are beautiful gardens surrounding it. The cabin itself was locked when we stopped by, but you could look through the windows to see the displays inside. Worth a visit if you are in town.
Small, locked when I visited. Hard to see inside but peering through the windows one gets a good sense of how LTC Washington would have slept, eaten, and worked. Worth a quick visit.
This is the house George Washington stayed in when in Cumberland, although it has been moved from its original location. It is a very small cabin with a few interesting displays inside. Its only open on special occasions or by appointment, but there are plaques in the area explaining the history.
Quiet little Park
A humble place of American History the cozy quarters of our first elected president. Stop by but dont be surprised if hes not home.

Pleasant little parklet. A bit of history.
Cool little bit of history hidden in here. There are several other stops along this little historic trail, but just be careful as it heads toward some odd areas of town
A neat little building of George Washingtons headquarters .
It is a very quaint building on a small patch of land. If you blink, you might miss it. Nothing extravagant, but it is worth a visit to learn a little bit of history about one of our Founding Fathers.
Very small place but amazing to see a headquarters of our 1st president during the war. Unfortunatly, Cumberland has fallen under hard times. Many shops are closed and the town looks very tired.
An interesting left-over from when Washington served at Fort Cumberland before the Revolution.
Very cute and informative.
Cool to see. They have a button you can press to hear a narrator talk about the historic place.
Great historic place for the family. Would recommend to anyone visiting.

Might be small but a great learning experience

General George Washingtons HQ.
Wish it was open but seems like the whole town is sort of struggling. There is an audio presentation you can listen to along with the Fort Cumberland trail markers.
