Beautiful state park. We visited while on Vacation in Crossville. I love that they have kayaks and canoes for rent as well as multiple hiking options. We are novice hikers (like, as baby as you can get). We chose the Pioneer Trail Short Loop because it was marked as easy and we felt 2 miles wasnt too bad. Well, it was definitely more than I bargained for. Its very beautiful, and I loved it. My feet werent so thrilled, or my lower back. It took us 2 hrs to complete (yep, slow and steady wins the race) and was rocky in parts, definitely uneven in others. I think if Id had been in better shape it wouldnt have been so difficult for me. Or, if I was more experienced (jump in the deep end much?). All this to say, if youve hiked like twice in your life, maybe choose the paved trail.Either way, It was still a good hike and very beautiful and we loved it.

Bride and I did the Pioneer trail - long route. It was great! I would rank the trail as moderate vs. easy due to the rocks & roots. We enjoyed the visit and will plan a return trip.

This is a great park for hiking, camping, or just relaxing with your family and friends. There are cabins to rent for longer stays and you can rent paddle boats and canoes to use on the small lake. There are places for RVs and camping as well. The dam is nice and theres hiking in that area as well.My friend and I come here once a year to relax and reconnect.

I adore this park. There’s plenty to do there like, hiking, camping, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, outdoor movie area, and simply exploring. We took one of the hiking trails after checking out the waterfall. We then at lunch, they have an amazing buffet restaurant and gift place. If you’re in the area or looking for a place to vacation, you must visit here.

Ate lunch there yesterday. This is a very attractive restaurant with a wonderful lake view. The service was great. Right now, they seem to be suffering from some COVID19 constraints. Basically, they were serving plate lunches. The only options were meatloaf and ribs served in a meat and two style. If that suits you, this is a good option. If you are looking for a more extensive menu or a buffet type approach, it just wasnt happening.

Took a long weekend to the Cumberland Mountain area, and made time to hike some of the trails within the Cumberland Mountain State Park area, and it was lovely. The trails we hiked were so varying. They have easy and comfortable paved trails for calm strolls, or more trail-like paths that lead around the lake and allow you to see more nature, and enjoy crossing several cool bridges. The park also offers rentals for things like Kayaks and paddle boats, meaning you can take the fun to the water if you are tired of hiking. Overall it was a lovely visit, and I would happily go again.

My BF and I havent been camping in the whole 7 years we have been together, luckily this campground was the best place to chose for our first time. The park was quiet and relaxing, it was so easy to make the reservation and it took no time for us to hookup the R.V. to power and water and get to relaxing. We really needed to get back to a calm state of mind, this Park helped us to get to there. Highly recommended !!

Big place with lots of trails (up to 6 miles, I believe). They have a restaurant, a little inside museum, lake, 4 kids playgrounds, biking trail, swimming pool, recreational area, tennis court and camping area. Snack store and an owl “barn”. Even though we didn’t see them because of the timing. They also have a small outside movie theater right by the lake. The bridge is beautiful and trails around it are very green and gorgeous. I went on a hike right after rain and it was just magical. Camping spots are clean. Fire ring and stone table with benches at every site. Red cardinals and other birds all over. Gooses at the lake by the restaurant.Very impressive. Good place for family vacation.

A great State Park with very helpful Personnel nestled on top the Cumberland plateau. The campground hosts kept our section of the campground (Section 5) in impeccable condition. Beautiful campgrounds, excellent trails, and a reasonably stocked boat dock with rental equipment are some of the amenities to be found. The pool was closed presumably for health reasons. Theyre highly rated restaurant was in pandemic mode. Normally an all you can eat buffet which changes daily was now a sit-down restaurant where the waitresses would go to the buffet to obtain the food that you requested. One of the jewels of the Tennessee Park system.

Lovely park. We enjoy the trails with our children. They were very well marked. We traveled in a 43 foot motorhome and we were able to get in without issues. Some campsites are better than others and there are some sewer sites. Area 1 might be tight for big rigs. Keep that in mind. T-Mobile and AT&T signals in campsites ok. Didnt use their bathrooms so cant make any comments. No easy mountain bike trails for the children.

I finally made it back to the cabins at Cumberland Mountain State Park. I visited twice before with my family in 1967 and 1971. We only traveled in the dead of winter, which we all enjoyed being from South Florida. We enjoyed staying in the cabins both times. We hiked the woods and crossed rivers. The lake was always frozen when we were there in December. I always wanted to go back and visit in the Summer Time to see the difference. I revisited in the Summer of July 2016 and just noticed I did not make a post then. It was amazing to come back to see the difference. Nothing has really changed in the years since except there is more greenery and the paths are overgrown. It was fun to revisit a place from childhood memories.

My family really enjoyed our weekend at CMSP. We rented a rustic cabin which had more perks than I was expecting: fridge, stove, dishes and utensils, towels, blankets, heaters in each room, and a cozy fireplace. We came in late fall when its not busy and the kids enjoyed smores and hot cocoa by the fire and lots of hiking. There are several kid play areas nearby and the Homestead Harvest restaurant with a buffet is just a short walk away. Overall a great last-minute weekend getaway for the family!

Positives- the campground and lake are very nice. There is a water pump and electrical hookup on site. The bathrooms are clean with hot water and private shower stalls. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The campsite was very quiet and family-friendly. The camp store and visitors area are a short walk from the camping sites. Negatives- camping is really set up for RVs. If youre tent camping you have to figure out how to pitch the tent over a gravel area and asphalt parking. It requires something else like a bungie cord to anchor the tent to a stake in the grass or something else solid. I wouldnt want to be in a tent here during a windy thunderstorm. You are also within 15 feet of the next camp site, so so on top of each other you can hear the neighbors conversations.

Mountian bike course one of the most challenging in Middle TN. Small aviary and lots of trails. It has been many many years since weve been to Cumberland Mountain State Park. But I do have a childhood memory of a family incident that happened there. Our parents took us to Cumberland Mountain State Park one weekend on our way to Chattanooga, where we used to live. Mom and the three children climbed up into the woods and, for some reason, Dad was not with us. All of sudden, we heard a animal cry like a lynx or a mountain lion, so the four of us hurtled down the hill, back toward the car, running as fast we could. When we reached the car, there was our Dad, laughing his head off, for it had been him who was making the animal noises. My mother was furious because she had been scared so bad that she had peed in her pants. We all used to recall with humor and alacrity that story of Cumberland Mountain State Park. We never went back to visit, by the way.

Compared to the other TN state parks this one is very close in proximity in RV sites. A lot of dogs and children in a close space. We are dog people but the barking was constant. The bathhouse is closed 9-1030 am and pm for cleaning. The camp host does an excellent job of checking on people ,asking if she can help, and cleaning the bathouse. The smell of bleach is a wonderful thing. My review is based on the closeness of sites and weekend was very loud the quite hours were respected but daytime was very boisterous.
