Great museum with lots of interactive exhibits. Kids will love this place! Good for adults, too - lots to read (alongside photos) on signage that clearly tells the story of northern Kentucky through various methods of transportation. Lots of non-transportation-related things to learn about, too. I spent about an hour and a half here without a kid. Pretty Christmas decorations and a fun train layout during the holidays!
Good content, but they could look across the river for ideas on how to better curate it.
Great place to go explore. My daughter and I decided to check it out on a rainy Saturday. The museum is tucked away in the Devou Park. Not real easy to find but there are signs. But it is worth it. We had a great time checking out all the exhibits. The train display and the trolley car from Covington, KY were a couple favorites. If you like history, especially local history, you should definitely stop by for a visit.
This is a hidden gem of a museum. Both train displays along with the other exhibits are very cool and informative. The level of detail is just incredible. Allow yourself 1 1/2 hours to see everything, longer if you have children as they definitely will want to spent extra time with the interactive train exhibits.
So, we went on the Smithsonian museum day pass. A little grateful for that, honestly. It needs a little attention. I feel like this is the type of place where the employees are just used to seeing it so they miss what we see. The kindergarten area was informative but really bare! Same with the drive in movie area. Mostly, the park outside. Whoa. It has obviously been forgotten. Overgrown. Unused. Sad.
We went during Christmas and saw an amazing train display. The staff was outstanding and very accommodating as we had Littles with lots of questions. I’m not sure what happens in this museum outside of Christmas but it will certainly be a tradition going forward for our family.
I was there with my grandson, his wife and two boys ages two and six months. We were there approx two hours. Came time to leave the two year old cried profusely. All of us were really impressed.
Nice displays and staff makes you feel welcomed. Not overwhelming, just a nice place to spend time.
Nice place, need nicer bathrooms!
Such a lovely opportunity to learn some local history and introduce the kids in a fun and interesting way. A great collection of rotating exibits and permmanent displays. Dont miss the holiday trains!
It was fun, just not MY favorite. You people may enjoy it, so go and try it out.
You can tell there was much hard work & love was put into the holiday train exhibit.
Great displays taking you through the history of transportation in Northern Kentucky.
Definitely worth visiting again! Visited during the holiday with the trains. Family and I enjoyed it immensely. We spent about 2 hours here and it was very affordable for the whole crew to visit.
Nice little museum of local history. Can get through in a short amount of time. $9 entry fee.
Really nice little museum.Really interesting artifacts and antiques, lots of interesting history, and it’s located in a very beautiful area.Perfect for families with kids, and it has just the right amount to see. I did not feel overwhelmed by the amount of items, nor did I feel like there was anything missing.Took about two hours to walk through, and a nice walking area outside that makes for a nice stroll.
Thursday night concerts. Tonight Leroy Ellington Sacred Hearts. Our friend Max Gise invited us to come. What a fantastic concert!!!
Great place for families! Trains, train tables, a replica of the front of a river boat. The rotating displays are interesting, too. Its been relatively quiet every time Ive been here, which is a nice contrast to the busy Cincinnati Museum Center. Its small enough that the adults can look around while the kids do their thing. All around, its a great place to get the kids out of the house for a few hours!
This is a wonderful place to go to learn about the history of Northern Kentucky. Easy to visit, easy too park, informative exhibits, friendly staff, a nice asset for the park and for all of us who live in KY. Try it!
The museum isfull of regional history and culture and the summer music series is outstanding.
Great local museum about the history of Northern Kentucky, the Ohio River and more. Permanent interactive train display and special Holiday Toy Train display from mid November to mid January.
Great place! Not huge, well run and awesome history! Friendly!
Very nice collection of historical artifacts
Hidden gem in Devou Park. Thursday night concerts are so much fun for the whole family!
The Museum is interesting. Also in the Summer each Thursday they have a concert in the park.
Beautiful museum! Loved hanging out at the playground right outside the doors!
I saw things I didnt know about . Really enjoyed the museum
A unique museum in a beautiful setting
Lots of stuff to look at. Little one loved the trains. Could be more for the kids to interact with.
Great historical collection of Northern KY. Rotation of exhibits throughout the year.
I enjoyed the Christmas trains
Great little space! They pack a lot into a beautiful museum inside and out. Always something fun to do with the kids and interesting exhibits for everyone. The Thursday night concerts are the place to be in the summer!
This place is great for children. All 4 floors each has playing section for children.
Its okay. More for children. Cool during the holidays.
Best museum in Kentucky
Hard to describe it in one sentence, but here goes... A really, really neat place!....AND A well done summer concert series on Thursday evenings.
A hidden gem in Devou Park. We went specifically for the trains display. As it was our first time we were pleasantly surprised at the museum sections as well.
Great place for a family to visit plenty to see with enough to keep adults and kids entertained pack a lunch and eat in the small closed in play area next door
Best museum in the area. Very friendly and ìn formative staff. It has four floors of displays of northern Kentucky history and civil war displays. Has a nice interactive train display on first floor. Museum has expanded quite a bit over the years and has a nice outdoor area for concerts through the summer.
This is a wonderful local history museum. It has great content, friendly staff, and is family friendly. My two daughters and I visited on Smithsonians Free Museum Day. I enjoy history and enjoyed reading a number of signs and displays covering various aspects of local history. My children were fascinated by some of the exhibits (the model city and trains on the first level were a highlight), but especially by the child-friendly activities to be found on each floor. I was quite impressed that each floor had at least one area for young children to play and interact with the theme of the area (i.e. train table, or fishing from a boat). My only complaint on the family friendly aspect is that the third floor mens room did not have a changing table. I didnt visit the restroom on the first floor to know if it had one. After going through the building we enjoyed visiting the small playground adjacent to the building. I was told that it was always free to visit. With free parking in the Museums lot I know well be back to the playground for sure, and well also go inside to see the Museums exhibits again.
Great exhibition of local history
Very well kept and really polite and helpful folks. I really enjoyed taking my toddler her
Excellent museum in a beautiful location
Cool exhibits, lots of random fun stuff, very nice area as well
Definitely a diamond in the rough. We had no idea this place existed, but it was fantastic for our toddler. So many things to play with and touch. The road has a few twists and turns, so you may want to be aware of people who get motion sick. But overall a great place to go.
Fun little museum with a lot of activities for children. If your children love trains, you have to check it out.
I love visiting here during the holidays!
Somewhat small museum - But the Cher exhibit !!!!
A hidden gem of a museum. A history museum of what river life was like and life in Cincinnati and surrounding area. Great for young and old alike.
Fantastic museum in Northern KY. Have been visiting since discovering the museum Im 2002. They have regular rotating exhibits and permanent exhibits that cover history and different forms of transportation in the tri state area.
Great small museum with great summer music program.
Best place for little ones. If you need to get out of the house during the long winter so your kids dont go crazy or you for that mater this is a great place, Prices are low and there is so much for the kids to do also educational the way a educational attraction should be.
Great place for adults and kids.
Thursday evening is the place to be. Great music in a wonderful atmosphere. One of Northern Kentuckys best kept secret.
It was fun; I enjoyed reading about the history of the tri-state and speaking with the workers, on staff.
Great place to take out of towners!
Very cool little museum of a lot of different items.
