We did the 90 minute ride and it was just long enough to enjoy the experience without being bow-legged. Im a big guy so they paired me up with Frank (the Tank), a very large and easy-going horse that does like to stop and eat the shrubs. My girlfriend got a more spirited horse since she fancies herself an equestrian aficionado. The guides were informative and the terrain was fairly diverse. I recommend this for just about anyone, regardless of experience on horseback. time can run a few minutes over so be patient.

The ride was awesome, and the prices are fairly cheap! It was a nice ride with beautiful horses that you can tell are taken care of. Our guide was super friendly and informative. The fact that they give you a saddle bag with water and storage to put your phone is also amazing. Will 100% be back on our next trip to Cottonwood. Cant beat the views! Even on a 95° day, it was fun!

I have been horseback riding since I was 9 years old, so I was a little worried about a nose-to-tail trail ride. But the horses were great, well-trained, and take care of. I was able to halt my horse and trot up to the group a couple times as well as walk up alongside my family at some point. It’s a perfect way to see the park!

This family owned business has generations of horse and cattle ranch experience. They easily paired the right horse to each rider. That was especially helpful since none of us in our group have riden in years!! Our guide, Christian, kept us informed of the trail ahead so we werent surprised by the horses reactions. He is very knowledgeable about the area and its history which made the ride even more interesting. The ranch was very easy to get to as its just outside of Cottonwood. We all enjoyed our ride tremendously! Id love to do this again for every season!

Went for a trail ride with my boyfriend and it was great!! We did the one hour trail, it was one of the most beautiful trails I’ve ever been on. I’m so used to the desert trail rides in Phoenix, but this place takes you into a beautiful forest-y area with a small creek you wade through.Horses seem very well taken-care-of. As soon as we dismounted, saddles we’re taken off and the horses returned to relax. They also have the easier horses that kids ride in hackamores, rather than bits, which I appreciate as an experienced rider myself.Would highly recommend!

We had such a blast! Our group of four riders had never been riding in our lives and we felt safe and sound the entire one hour ride (Outlaw Trail). Our horses were wonderful and so well behaved they knew what they were doing and there was never any fear at any point in time. Our two guides, Christian and Gilbert, were phenomenal and did an awesome job at making sure everyone was comfortable and safe the entire time. The Outlaw Trail was a fun and scenic one hour trail ride that had two points where you would get to tread through water the whole trail made for some awesome memories. We will definitely be back in the winter for another ride and to check out the scenery. Thank you again to Trail Horse Adventures! :)

The experience was great from the beginning to the end of it, the booking was super easy, directions on how to get there as well. Once there we were provided with water and a helmet for my 6 year old, the horses were beautiful to say the least, it shows they take great care of them and they were so nice and well behaved. During the ride the leaders where telling us stories about the places we were looking at and giving us tips on how to handle the horses. Overall it was an amazing experience that we will for sure repeat...for sure we will do it again when the heat goes down. Thank you so much for the amazing experience Trailhorse adventures!!

Wanted to expertise the horseback riding during my stay in Sedona. Because of Covid 19, the horseback ridings were closed in town. But, Im glad to find this place. Communication was nice and smooth, easy transaction. A short and quick demonstration for riding was really helpful. We rolled out in the state park for an hour, up and down the hill, and even went in the stream of creek thats surface reached about 2/3 of horse legs. The houses were all tamed well and the ride was really outlaw and chilling. Ppl there were awesome. I had a great riding experience!

I surprised my wife with a trail ride at Trail Horse Adventures. The family owned operation is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable people. Our guide was a funny older gentleman who assured us that we were in good hands. The horse were gentle and easy going, just have to make sure they’re not stopping to eat every 20 feet! I would suggest the pre-ride instructions be given a bit more detail and get confirmation that everyone understands what has been said before saddling up. One of the women in our group freaked out and asked to get off the horse before we even got out of the stables. I think this could have been avoided if our guide made sure everyone was comfortable with the instructions and reassured them of the safety of riding the horses. Overall I would recommend booking with these nice people.

Cash tipping the tour guide (15% - 20%) accepted and Im sure very much appreciated. Enjoy the park while youre there, just heads up theres a seven dollar fee, per carload, to enter the park, in order to get to the horses. Theyll have bottle water available. Dont forget sunscreen, closed toe shoes, long sleeve, and perhaps a hat. Younger kids required to wear helmet.

POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES. My grand daughter and I have enjoyed several rides at Trail Horse Adventures. I thought I was dealing with honest, reputable people, but when it came time for Trail Horse Adventures to step up and do the right thing, their true colors came out. We had a ride scheduled and paid for a ride 3/13/20, but due to weather the ride was cancelled. I was told I would be refunded the money the following week. At the end of that week - No Refund. When I called to check, I was assured the refund would be in my account by the end of the next week. End of week 2 - No Refund. This time when I called no one answered the phone and no one has returned my call. As of today, 17 days after the cancellation - still No Refund! WOW! Just called again and was told Trail Horse Adventures didnt have the money to give me a refund and was hung up on. I was told I didnt deserve to ride with Trail Horse Adventures.

Trail Horse Adventures is housed in dead horse State Park by Cornville and about 15 miles outside of Sedona. What they probably didnt tell you you have to pay a $7 Park entrance fee to get to the horseback ride. The owner, employees and guide are very nice people. The trail however was not that interesting. We went at 10 and it was already too hot. By the end of the 1.5 hr ride we were boiling hot. Youre not allowed to try or Gallop in the park and you must go with a guide. We walked the horses through sandy parts of a pretty flat park. We went through a little river went around and went across the river again with the horses. That was kind of the highlight of the ride. The trail is nothing to write home about. The trail was mostly out there in the boiling sun but there were little parts that had shady trees. I was hoping for some Red Rocks or some beautiful mountain scenery. Our tour was supposed to start at 10 we arrived at 9:45 I guess when we pulled up, the lady wrote down the time and started counting an hour and a half from the time the car pulled up. We got on the horse at 10am after we signed all the paperwork and got some riding helmets from her. She gave us a little carrying bag that goes over the horn and has two pockets on each side. She put a bottle of water in there and then I put my money, keys and phone in the other side pocket. They discourage you from keeping anything in your back jeans pocket. They have the horses already saddled up. I looked at that horse and I said I cant get up there from the ground do you have a stool or a loading ramp. We waited til they got a stool to get up onto the horse which helped. The western movies make it look so easy they just jump up on that saddle but I cant and I could barely swing my leg over once I got on this Earth. Which reminds me to stirrups were way too long for my feet and so the girl had to make them a lot shorter. We were somewhat needy so I bet you they were glad to see us go on our way. By 10 we were on the trail, but by 11:10 he was leading us back to the ranch. We were kind of gypped out of 20 minutes and we mentioned it and they said oh no you were here at 9:45 and now its 11:15 but that wasnt the case but it was so hot so I really didnt care. My riding partner was upset because she wanted the full 1 hour and 30 minutes. But since we won the tickets through a timeshare offer I didnt feel like complaining too much but of course it is coming in the review. The owner lady was very very sweet I must say and the guide who was 77 years old was really great too. We tipped them at the end. I gave him five and my friend gave him only three so Im sure he wasnt happy about that since there were only two of us in the party. The owner had two other girls who were helping lift us up onto the horse. My partner got a huge horse that I did not want and I got a middle-sized horse which was a beautiful brown color with a gorgeous black Mane. These horses look well cared for. It really hurts me when I go to a horseback riding place and the animals are half dead. This horse was so beautiful I just loved it. I would never go on this tour again because its so flat and boring but I think it was a good experience and if you do want to take a simple ride do it early in the morning. Dont go in at 10 anytime fro. May to October. Its already too hot. Maybe in the early spring or late fall the temperature will be perfect. I feel sorry for these people that run this table because something was wrong with their main cabin so they had to be outside under a picnic table. I dont know how they can make money because a lot of times there were commissioned through these timeshares and then the timeshare pays a reduced price. Normally its $89 a person. Think of all the upkeep and vet bills and food and clean up of horses. They have to move the horses every day to the park because theyre not allowed to keep them in the park overnight so they got to get horse trailers to move them everyday and every-night. See you on the trail cowpoke.

We are tourists who have ridden a few times before but are definitely novices. First of all, their administration needs to communicate better. We called the day before to schedule an 8am ride, they told us to get there at 730, which we did. However they did not record their call with us so I had to call them and remind them of our reservation. They showed up at 8:20.The horses and the trail were both very tame. Pretty wooded scenery (not at all like Sedona to warn you) on the Outlaw trail, but the horses just blandly follow each other, walking in the rut from previous rides. Its like a horse ride at the fair, but with prettier scenery. However, we enjoyed Jake, our guide. He was our age and was a good blend of the faux cowboy talk and actual frank conversation about life in the area, which we were more interested in.All and all though, a pretty average, three star ride.
